Oh Keith Smart, how you frustrate me. We had this game in our clutches. Cuz, T-Rob, and Reke were all clearly better than anyone on the Suns. We had the lead and were at least playing consistent if not smooth basketball to close out the third quarter.

So what does our esteemed genius team runner do? Start out the fourth quarter with a line-up of back ups. So then this brilliant decision leads to a massive momentum shift in which the Suns are clearly beating the snot out of the guys on the floor. A smart coach would realize this and call a timeout to stall and regroup (or at the very least put his good players back in). But what does Smart do? If your answer was nothing, give yourself a gold star.

Waiting until we’re down by seven and momentum has shifted completely to the Sun’s side, Smart calls a timeout but then fails to reinsert any of his good players out of the timeout. Instead waiting a whopping one or two plays to put them back in. WHAT THE HELL?

Keith Smart: Making Kenny Natt look like a viable NBA coach with every additional game.

Thanks Joe and Gavin.

In other news, T-Rob is coming on strong whilst JT is fading fast. How soon will he enter the starting line-up? With Smart as coach? Probably never.

When he’s on, Thomas Robinson is a force of nature, wreaking havoc on the boards with his combination of dazzling athleticism and ridiculous hustle. Will he ever be a superstar? Probably not. Will he be worth the fifth overall pick? I vote yes.

AWARD TIME

TDM- Michael Beasley. Playing for the team on which Delk once scored over fifty points against us in a single game. Beasley played a 4th quarter that would make the Delkster proud.

JHA- Aaron Brooks. On a team with three score-first point guards, he certainly played the worst. Which makes the fact that Smart decided to stick with him through most of the fourth quarter until things were irreversibly dire all the more frustrating. Seriously. After a relatively good start of the season, the man has partnered with MT to form the most frustrating backcourt in the NBA

SAR- Chuck Hayes. Against a team without a scoring big man to stop, the Chuckwagon is pretty much a wagon without wheels. In other words, useless.

LW-VC- Keith Smart. I know this is reserved for players but Smart is honestly that frustrating.

WTF Moment- Keith Smart’s rotations. Always.

Quincy Douby Bust of the Game- Wesley Johnson.
i

Statline: 2 rebounds, 1 foul, three missed shots in 7 minutes.
Putting up stats that would make Donte Greene laugh Johnson was picked 4th overall by the T-Wolves in the 2010 draft. The guy we picked up at 5th overall? Some scrub named Demarcus Cousins. Thank you David Kahn.

Tonight we play OKC. I could tell you about the history of that franchise but I think you guys already know.

Not much to say here except that this team is really really good.

Isaiah on Westbrook would be a pretty dumb strategy, yet a dumb strategy I fully expect to see, even though putting Reke on Westbrook for the opening tip and hiding Isaiah on Sefolosha would probably give us our best chance, however little that may be.

And putting the ball in Reke's hands tonight and him having a good game is important given how Cuz usually struggles against Ibaka, who's even better than he was last year.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a few of us will be pulling our hair out at Smart's decisions tonight.

Good news though: Burkle!

Judging by your avatar, you might have a short evening.

My avatar hates poor defense, and what my avatar hates even more than poor defense is poor defensive strategy which gives the defense less of a chance to be anything but poor.

We need your avatar to coach our team.

No kidding. He must make a lot of money as an announcer as he must be in demand as a coach. Maybe he's just waiting for a Western Conference team to get bought out and have unlimited money to play with. Oh, and also be in a conference where the Lakers are sinking rapidly. :)

One hope is his Bay Area roots. Was raised in Martinez until his family moved to NY when he was in HS.

Another of course if Burkle pans out, is new ownership willing to cut a big check to make their mark and turn the team around, a new arena, and a roster centered around the best up and coming center in the league. With a new owner with deep pockets who wants to spend and a new arena the job looks much more attractive than many in the NBA. When looking at legacies and the legacy a coach would want to leave behind, being the coach of a team who helped turn a franchise around, from a joke to a contender might be attractive as well. Similar to the NJ job before this season. A new arena with a deeeeeeeeeep pocketed owner who wants to turn the franchise around is attractive.

Completely forgot about his "local" roots

Smarts game plan:

Have IT completely shut down Westbrook.
Have Tyreke play 12 minutes in the 1st half, and then play 8 minutes in the second half.
Have Salmons completely shut down Durant.
Have IT attempt more field goals than anyone else on the team...Because he's our best scorer or something.
Have Cousins do whatever he wants (and hopefully make Smart look good).
Go smallball for extended periods of time.

A new owner has to overcome a reputation that is so bad that FAs are willing to go elsewhere and make less money. Burkle spent a couple hours with Stern. If I were Stern I would tell Burkle that he has to spend money on coaches, etc. to over come the reputation. It's the only way this franchise can turn the corner. If that is what is said, JVG might as well wait it out and see if he can return to his NorCal roots. Some of that is wishful thinking, of course, but the Kings will have to overpay to get a decent coach and without a decent coach, they are going nowhere. My personal feelings about the Kings future is that it can be pretty good because of all the young guys. What they need are veteran FAs and a coach which are going to take and investment of money.

If I were Stern, I would also tell Burkle that once he gets the reputation turned around, gets a new arena, and the nutty fan base is simply waiting for better days, he may start making money although not a fortune. If I remember correctly, in the Divac and Webb years, the team lost money. All of that has to be discussed up front and I am sure most has already been discussed. The only change from a couple years ago is that the team can now say it has one of the top centers in the league and the team looks to be a few roster moves and a change of coaches to be a success. JVG might also be VERY interested in Tyreke, JJ, and TRob especially if the shot blocking hole is filled.

Smart's post-game plan:
Say that we didn't come out with energy
Shun questions about his rotation, attributing them to things such as fatigue and effectiveness
Acknowledge that fans had the right to boo the team
Say that he'll continue coaching to win games

We can't stop Durant anyway, so that's why we had Jimmer on him hoping to make OKC pay on the other end.
I'm being sarcastic, but Smart has earned this reputation.

I wonder if Oden really would have been better than Durant. Seems unlikely, huh? I suspect Oden went first because of his build as compared to Duranr. I mean really, how could such a skinny guy like Durant be very good on offense. :)

Dont forget about...

-Playing our starters the entire 1st quarter resulting in a competitive game.
-Insert entire bench to start second.
-Bring starters back in w/ 30 seconds left in the half... down by 20.
-Play starters the entire 2nd half to get within 5 with 3 minutes to go.
-With the game back in reach, insert secret weapons - Travis Outlaw and Cisco Garcia for Reke and JT.
-Lose game by 12.

Would you really give the starters so much time in the 2nd quarter? Sheeesh!

Really unfortunate that Oden couldn't stay healthy. He was an absolute monster when he was on the floor and I would have loved seeing him and Boogie duke it out the next 10 years.

and i bet if you got the stats for all of these players over the last 4 weeks, DeMarcus numbers would be the best

Problem is other than Aldridge and Dwight those guys are on winning teams and are one of their teams' best players. Many felt that Curry should have made it instead of Aldridge, and Dwight was voted in so can't be helped there.

Keith Smart is so dumb that we probably wont even see James Johnson tonight. even though hes been playing better than most people on the team and he should be our #1 choice to guard Durant

Keith Smarts Keys to the Game
1. Get Tyreke off to a quick start, then sit him for the rest of the game.
2.Get the 3pt master into the game... Travis Outlaw.
3.Find a lineup that go's on a run, then sit them after 2 minutes and never play them again.
4.Use our size advantage... a lineup of IT Brooks Salmons Johnson and Chuck Hayes will dominate the Thunder with size.

ahhahaha matchup of the game Isaiah vs Westbrook?? ya thats a great matchup........

The matchup of the game is a joke. They are consistently matching up guys like John Salmons vs LeBron James. I mean ... sometimes the stat comparisons aren't even close.

LP showing the Thunder broadcast. This should be interesting

Lol I just choked laughing. The Thunder announcers said Keith Smart's strong point is that he has a plan and follows it. Oh god if only they knew..

im getting to the point where id rather see T-Rob out there with DeMarcus. Thompson is just garbage lately and T-Rob looks like a totally different player when hes on the floor with Cuz instead of Hayes
