[Game] Kings vs. Suns 3/8/13

I find you all amusing. IT is always at fault, no matter the situation or how well he's playing. I'd hate to see the board reaction if it had been IT who had the 3 straight TO's earlier in the 4th

We all have our scapegoats. It's part of being a fan.

Well ... you don't think that was a dumb play coming out of a timeout? I'm blaming both Smart and IT for that one.

Jamal, go back and read the reaction people had when Reke had his 3 TOs. Also, many players can put up big stats while simultaneously hurting an offense.

Of course it was. Our coach is an idiot. Its just an interesting observation that IT gets demolished for any little mistake he makes, no matter how well he's playing.

so looking at the 2nd half compared to the 1st, you can conclude that things go much better when: A) Chuck Hayes doensn't play. B) Douglas plays instead of Jimmer

You know what sucks?

Keith Smart is a good guy. He actually has a personality, and I know he loves basketball.

He's just a bad head coach. After this season is over and he is gone, I don't think i'll have any hard feelings for him. I can't say that about Muss, Theus, or Westy.

I did. A whole lot of "Oh, 3 TO's. Gosh darn it!" Type of responses. An angry mob would have formed by IT's car after the game if he was the one who had the 3 TO's. I'm a firm believer that Reke and IT CAN coexist and would make an absolute deadly duo with a proper coach. Thus, I'm not in favor of bashing him into the ground for every little thing he does wrong

Again, just an interesting observation.

i agree. he should have stayed an assistant

That's not true. Well... to a certain extent. People didn't demolish IT for his TOs in the first half that resulted in fast breaks the other way. It's all about the timing and circumstance if you ask me. At least, that's how I approach it. DMC gets criticized too. Tyreke as well. Outlaw gets demolished the second he checks into the game. If you choose to focus on one player it'll always appear that that player is getting picked on. Personally I tend to pick on IT and MT when they just run down the court and pullup for 3s. I don't care who does that or whether that goes in, that's a bad shot, and those guys would be killed if they were on winning veteran teams. It's not my fault that IT and MT tend to be the ones taking those shots. Does that mean I'm intentionally picking on IT? Tyreke took a similarly bad shot the other night, and I yelled at my screen "wtf was that?!".

That said, Glenn is spot-on in that as fans, we all probably have our favorite players and our scapegoats. As long as you keep your criticism within the confines of the game and base it on stuff that actually happens I don't see a big problem with it. As far as I can remember, IT at least hasn't been criticized for some sort of personal problem or being mentally unstable or stupid or anything like that. Tyreke and DMC have received such criticism over the years. At the end of the day, we all want the team to win and we simply differ in how we think the team should be run.

Totally disagree. I actually liked Muss. I think he unfortunately followed a great coach in Adelman when we hadn't fully come to grips with the fact that we were done. I think he'll be back in the NBA and will be successful. I think Smart may be a nice guy and a hard worker but he's a moron. Those other guys didn't have the young talent we did and spend 2 seasons repeating the same mistakes while stubbornly acting like he had it all figured it.

I think he would make a great assistant. He's great with the palyers (or was before he got his extended look as a head coach) and he's a film rat which is certainly beneficial to have. He just can't do anything a head coach needs to be able to do at an NBA level

I agree with you, he's a very nice guy that seems to genuinely care but his coaching isn't so sharp.

I'm ok with this as well. I'd be shocked if he ever got another head coaching gig in the nba and would be especially blown away if he was anything but incompetent should that happen.

Again, just an interesting observation.

IT's got a bad habit of forcing the issue, over and over again - whether he's playing well or not. I think that's where alot of the frustration comes from. When he's on it looks nice, but when he's not - he's still trying to do too much, often at the expense of others.

For Reke, it's the opposite - he's rarely aggressive. So, while the 3 TOs were terrible, it was a rarity for Reke to even be that aggressive in the first place.

When it comes to how people react whenever IT does something stupid, I'd argue that on this board - numerous players create a strong negative reaction when they make a dumb play. DMC, no matter how great he's playing, will always evoke a strong negative reaction from certain people. Same goes for Reke, IT, Jimmer, etc. etc.

He gets paid nearly 1M to be an idiot. He'll get paid that same amount next year for doing nothing but being an idiot the year before.

Wish life was that rough for all of us.
