Hard to believe he won't revert back to the mean. No slight on him though, I just don't see him being around in any reasonable timeline for this team.

You never know. For a guy who has never had a major injury, the assumption that a player will drop off in his early 30's is blown way out of proportion

Haliburton with his hand on Doug's shoulder as they called for the replay. I think he has a unique connection with the players as a head coach
I respected my coaches that were former players more then the ones that weren’t cause they could relate better to me

I could easily see him doing it. He's that type of person. Teams have sandbagged him before and he still acted like a pro.
I don't think we need to rid of Gentry. Christie still got a lot to learn working behind a real veteran NBA headcoach.

Don't get overhyped. Everyone got health and safety protocol and Christie was mostly doing a good job wrangling our kids. Not to discount him as a head coach but we simply got no data yet.

As long as Christie gets to be as vocal as he has been as the head coach (It's not uncommon to see assistant screaming their lungs out). I think it might be beneficial to his growth as a coach in this league to remain the assistant for this season at least.

I tend to think of his contract length being more of an issue. Surely he isn't likely to re-sign if we are still a lottery or play in team at best? But behind Barnes he might have the most value around the league for a team needing a quick fix that might have a younger player stuck behind another in a position we need.

Got back from the game….sat low in the corner behind Spurs bench. I’m 2-0 on the year.

A heck of an effort from the team. Awesome game by Damian Jones. Hali and Hield were tremendous, contributions by the others. Even Swag had a stint where he contributed.

I’m positive that if Swag was just given consistent time every game, we would see a rotation contributor. He’s physical, looks like he could be good on D, is able to take guys off the dribble. He needs to get comfortable against NBA talent and length as he’s used to G League guys.

Doug Christie has potential to be along term head coach here

I can see it now. Coach Pop retires after this season. Spurs hire Doug Christie as head coach - Kangzzz!!!
If Becky Hammon hasn't gotten a HC stint elsewhere and she gets passed over for the job I can almost guarantee the Spurs will get savaged for it in ways unimaginable right now.

Doug's making a good case right now and I don't think Gentry wants the gig. I can see him handing it over by season's end if that's the direction Monte wants to go. Definitely high risk/high reward for a young GM to bring in a team legend here though.

The wrinkle in this situation, is that Ranadive already wanted Doug to be the coach. It was reported that he was talked out of it, right before they settled on the conventional safe choice of Gentry as the interim

Kings need a guy that can create his own shot and score. Facts. Who says it HAS to be fox. How many years do fox and hali need together to figure out whether they can play well together. So far it has looked mehhh. Good GMs make moves proactively.

Why not trade Fox and a 1st for Jaylen Brown ?

Seems like that would open up our guard glut

Help significantly with wing defense too

Remember guys, this is the same team that got destroyed on Friday. As soon as you start thinking DC is the coach of the future or Hali is the star player, they'll get crushed again.

We've been through this about 10,000 times since 2006.
So because they could get crushed next game the kings should keep the same squad together and just do nothing? Brilliant.

Although hali does give you some hope being a true pg it's more about a fox led team never being close to 500.

I'm not really sure what it'd take for me to believe this team actually has turned a corner at this point

If these reports are true, Doug’s tenure thus far is reinforcing Ranadive’s mindset of how right he was… a rare opportunity may indeed open up for DC.
