And per usual a Kings double team is guaranteed points for the other team. They did great on that last switch where Haliburton held up Porzingis. Keeping doing that until it doesn't work.

Can we see Fox/Haliburton/Davion out there together Gentry? Please? Doug did it in the only game he had all 3. And IIRC, it wasn't that terrible.
Listen to Kayte here, she's spot on. Get the ball in the paint and score so they can't overplay their perimeter defense. Then you start raining threes when they actually give you open looks. These guys think they're open every time down the floor and they're not.

The Mavs let everyone in on their opinion of Metu and it cost them the game last time. So far, the averages are working out in their favor. They will pack it in and let Metu keeping launching.
I liked Jones taking them when he was within 5 feet. The 10 foot jumper is a different story though. And Metu shooting straight away threes should not be the first option in our offense. He can take them from the corners or at the end of the shot clock but running down and iso'ing to set up a low percentage three is just bad offense.

Well not looking great but I got to say that Bagley’s on ball defense is significantly improved. His whole defensive position and footwork is much better. He still has some work playing in a defensive scheme but I am impressed he doesn’t get blown by because his balance and footwork are poor.

I think they don't really know how to double team. As far as rotations go when the ball gets out of the double. I've noticed that with past coaches too.
I've got to give credit to Dallas. They are not a team that will beat themselves, even with half the roster out on health and safety protocols. It was a hard fought game until the third and they kept the intensity up even when they had the big lead. That's what good teams do.

Yeah, and they simply aren't good at it, but honestly, you don't rely on double teams in the modern game. Even the best teams will get eaten alive. Sometimes you just have realize your failures then figure out how to minimize them. The Kings either play big, or super small. Always stuck somewhere in between a mismatch.
There's talent here but they don't play well together. I don't know who's fault that is exactly, probably a lot of people. I want Buddy gone like tomorrow if possible. All he does is force up shots now. He was barely a factor in today's game though. We had three possessions in a row where Jones got position right under the basket and scored and then we never went back to him down there again. Force Dallas to adjust if you've found a mismatch you can exploit. We've also stopped running plays for Holmes almost entirely since he had the eye issue and missed a couple of weeks. He was automatic offense in the first part of the season. Haliburton was on fire -- we need to recognize that and feed him the ball more. Also 12 FTA for the entire team is horrible. I understand the refs aren't showing us much respect but if you keep going hard to the basket they'll have to call something eventually.
These are the types of losses that hurt the most. We just didn't compete for 10 minutes and gave away the game. We seem to do that about every 4 or 5 games which is why we never managed to get up to .500 when we do play hard.

And somebody actually wondered why interest in this team was still low after the game winning 3 the other night.
As I said it’s because performances like tonight are sure to follow and most every fan knows it.
It’s impossible to get excited about this team for the long term.
They had one fleeting moment under Joerger when they were over .500 at the all-star break but drama between the coach and front office tanked that season and it‘s been back downhill ever since.

Some will say we’re 2/3 in the last 2 games, but others will say we were almost 1-3 and the mavs played people I’ve never heard of.
Both are right and both are wrong.
Regardless I’m spending thousands of dollars annually to watch this crap show.
I’m now just rooting for drama in 2022, because good basketball doesn’t seem possible.
