Coach Brown isn’t just setting up a good culture here. He’s setting up a CHAMPIONSHIP culture. He is setting standards of excellence and this wall pay off huge dividends down the line for this team. I’m so happy we hired Brown man.

Like the Domas trade, I wasn't initially happy with the Brown hiring. I mean, there weren't really any candidates I was crazy about. But Brown just seemed like a re-tread to me. And certainly wasn't known for his inventive offenses.

But like the trade, I couldn't have been more wrong about Brown. I realize the KINGS also added some new pieces that weren't here before, like Huerter and Monk, but there's no doubt in my mind anymore that Brown was the PERFECT guy for this job. And he's hired some very good assistants in Fernandez and Triano (among others) and is allowing them to flourish in their roles.

Further kudos to McNair for his decision making in assembling this crew and ultimate kudos to the players and coaches for producing.

That is true. Our defense, especially 4th quarter/late-in-game, has been pretty good.

Really, I think the most important thing we are missing to become a true Playoffs contender is consistency.

Last season Brunson had one of the better postseasons I've seen in a while from a player that's not considered an elite talent.

His offense reminds me of Davion's defense.

I can't absolve them from all of the 23 offensive rebounds, as there were many instances when I was yelling at my TV for KINGS players to attack the ball on the rebound, but there were several points during the game where the ball was seemingly rebounding right to a Knicks player every single time. I mean, there would be 4-5 KINGS players around the lane and the ball would carom right to the lone Knicks player that was in frame.

Can't do much about that.

We can't be outscoring everyone in the Playoffs when they slow the games down, which is why it is frustrating to see how inconsistent our defense is. But being it our (potential) first Playoffs in 16 years, maybe it is enough for our kids to go in and get a feel for it first. Maybe that'll make them understand the importance of being consistent.

Yes. I think it's inevitable this team will learn many lessons in the playoffs. In the regular season a team can take a few plays or quarters off and win a game, but In the playoffs the mistakes are magnified and taking off quarters or even a few possessions will cost you bigtime. I see a LOT of potential with this team, which makes it very frustrating at times when they don't play to their potential. But to be realistic, this is the kind of thing you see with younger immature teams. Typically they need to experience some pain before they grow up and become professional basketball "adults." Such is life.

Hali is showing out even better in Indy, yet his team is 30-37 and not a winning team either.

Perhaps that'll eventually change. But certainly not this season like it has for us.

To be fair, they went on a huge losing streak after Hali went down with an injury. They were doing quite well before that.

I'm not sure if that's completely accurate. Seems like Brunson wanted to go to NY and was gone no matter what. His dad or uncle is in the FO there, it's about as clear cut a tampering case that you can't do a thing about because what are you supposed to tell a guy he can't talk to his family?

IIRC Cuban said Brunson didn't give them the chance to match let alone beat the offer.

In the current playoff/playin standings, I count 4 teams that are old and injury prone. Another one who isn't old but injury prone because they build around the human blimp and twig combo, and 2 more liable to being crazy and/or stupid.

Huh... I did not know that. After his post-season performance, I just thought he wanted a big contract but the Mavs wouldn't budge.

Its interesting the Knicks became more competitive when he went out for the 2nd half. Since he didn't play though, no way to know what the outcome would've been anyway. Kings did their familiar let the other team back in the game to inject much skepticism on the outcome

I agree with Brown. The Kings weren't very good, which is why the game was so close. Sabonis and Monk were excellent. Murray started the game very well. Fox deigned to show up in the 4th. Otherwise, it was a pretty meh effort that fortunately yielded a win.

Brown was spot on, by torching the guards a bit- they were not boxing and getting back on defensive rebounding consistently. There was alot of ball watching and lack of movement helping to erase their lead. Brown got angry, but I thought more of the bench needed to come in earlier on his part - the team looked outhustled and tired for large swaths of the 3rdQ. There was one thing refreshing at least, the Kings didn't have to dig themselves out of bad 1stH play like against Twolves and Mavs, but that was also due to Knicks shooting abysmally. Without their stellar 2ndQ, the Kings probably take a loss. Fox and Monk keyed the victory offensively. And although Brown and everyone noticed the rebounding, the Kings had 10 steals......a solid number. My general observation, that the Kings win when they have 6+ players in double figures was true, but was pushed to the brink - Davis and Metu had goose eggs which didn't help. Unfortunately Davis is in a full-on slump. The team needs him to break out of it, but Brown has him on a short leash now. He has the ability to put up a bunch of points, but more concerning is his getting lost and outhustled on defense more regularly than before. The game broke right for the Kings, but their 10 steals factored in. Meanwhile the FT shooting was pedestrian, so no nice 26/26 like the Clipper win. Move on and prep for OK Corral with Suns.
