For the non-Fox side of the game, I felt like JMac showed exactly why the T-Wolves have been missing him all season tonight. Gritty gritty defensive hustle, smart ball mover on offense, and absolutely willing to nail the big shot if so called upon. Monte had himself another great offseason and Devin hasn’t even played yet.
Too bad he couldn't have shown the Timberwolves why they were missing him last night.

Season-defining type of win here. Sort of game you look back on at the end of the year and are REALLY glad you were able to pull off. Every excuse in the book to just pack this game up as a loss and move on. Gritty win from the top down with multiple unsung hero types stepping up

-Have to lead off with Fox here. 49 on 30 shots, 9 assists and only 4 turnovers. I don't want our guys hurt, but if this little 2-game stretch unlocks THIS Fox the rest of the season? There's your shot at winning a playoff series or two. Need this aggression to stay once the rest of the guys are back.

-Massive shout-out to O-Rob/JMac/Len off the bench. They all gave a spark at different times in this game and showed up to fill a much needed void. 20 points on 12 shots from that trio, great energy and defense. We don't win without them. Def intrigued by O-Rob, he's got a real comfort level on offense and think he can be a real asset once he's more integrated with the team.

-Huerter and Lyles gave JUST enough shooting support for Foxy here. 10-19 from 3 combined, and we finally outshot a team being +7 in 3PM. 35 points on 23 shots is excellent.

-Rough game for Keegan and Keon, two guys we'd all hope would be able to step up a bit more here being short-handed. Happens though and have to remember they're still only in their 3rd season and going through growing pains. Still the best defensive players on the team by a good margin.

Big win. I don’t think the Kings are significantly better than Utah without Domas, Monk, and DDR. So it’s a nice win on a b2b

Fox is usually average to sub par on the second night of back to backs so to follow up 60 with a much needed 49 was huge. He stepped up big time despite his legs probably being gone most of the second half.

Big game from Trey

McLaughlin, Len, Robinson, Huerter with strong games.

Weird game for Keegan. I harped on it enough through the game thread. I was hoping for more aggression from him obviously. I don’t expect him to hit his full offensive potential until his second contract(that’s how it works for most guys), but I do expect him not to have these type of games offensively anymore.

Also Keon has negative confidence as well. Afraid to shoot and making poor decisions. He’s needed out there and he shoots well. So he shouldn’t give Brown reasons to dog him. McLaughlin playing well

I was also impressed with Isaac Jones even if the refs weren’t. I would like to see more of him. 6’9, athletic, and lengthy. Brown should take any excuse to play somebody like that

Good win. 8-6 seems pretty disappointing but throughout the league it’s how most of the other good teams are starting except for about 4 teams. Kings are in good shape once we get everybody back

Any losses the Kings can stave off right now is a great thing. This might be a race to 32 in the loss column this season. Over that might mean play in or even not depending on how things shake out.

The Game Thread Dude
Trey Lyles also rediscovering his offense has helped us weather the storm a ton too. Dude’s never looked worse/slower on defense but him contributing like he has the last week or so is big to our overall success.

Always start to get real weary of older role players with a lot of NBA mileage. This is around the time they really start to hit the age cliff and fall off.
Sorry I had to dip out of the game, but 29? 29 is when players with less than 11K minutes start to hit the age cliff?

Lyles was never an NBA athlete. Just the way it goes. He's a skill player - and not a skill-enough-to-be-a-star player, just a skill-enough-to-hang-around player. Always has been.

To me, the only goal in the West is just to keep pace. Always expected a "feeling out" period getting DDR integrated and the bright side is I think we've flipped literally like 4 or 5 games this year that would be expected losses in the last 2 seasons into wins this year. 8-6 as basically the worst 3pt defense and the worst 3pt shooting team is honestly a damn miracle. But that also shows the upside of this team because it suggests we're actually playing really damn well in every other facet.

How the hell are they 11th in DRTG with such bad 3pt defense is what I wanna know.

With Brown, it takes injuries to get the bench to get some minutes and also see how they contribute (Jmac-Orob-IJones). I hope now when Domas/DDR/Monk come back, he can count on those guys some.
Why wouldn't it take injuries? You don't typically delve into your 12th, 13th and 14th men just at a moment's notice.

Pretty remarkable with how chippy this game got and for a guy often in the middle of the chippyness.

Kyle Flopowski had ZERO personal fouls in this game lol

I have a new player I really don’t like. I hope he doesn’t become really good
Easy to hate but give him credit, he was pissed out there and played like it

Maybe Monk's absence will be a Blessing in disguise going forward, with us discovering and trusting more of our bench depth. Lyles looks SO much better and more comfortable.

Hawks on Monday. Then, no game till Friday. A much needed three day break to heal up and hopefully get back to full strength. It couldn’t have come at a better time.
Absolutely. Although i do hope we get at least one of our guys back, in DeMar or Sabonis. I'm getting nervous about DeRozan because i assumed it was even more minor than they seem to be treating it. Better to be cautious i suppose
