Also, seeing Swipa so calm and composed during these tight and stressful games is such a treat to watch.
Some people on twitter who read the clippings but didn't see the Monk/Fox presser think Fox is acting like Ja now, but no. Dude is 100% chill on the court.

Stupid reporters kept asking them about everyone on the Clippers and every other player in the NBA/team that loaded up and their response was "we only care about us" and now suddenly they are crazy flex douchebags?

I can't wait until we make some teams cry in the postseason.

We may be talking about months right here, and not years...

This is a great point. Quite honestly, as well as Malik and De’Aaron played, a strong argument could be made that the late-game trapping and aggressive defense is what changed the game and won it for the KINGS.

IIRC they had not one, but two instances of coming back from 9 or 10 points in an instant when the outcome seemed like it might have been decided.

At the end, they got down 6 yet scored the last 7, I believe, to steal the game.

Swipa’s steal from Plumlee might have been the play of the game. All from the pressure defense.
And that's why he gets to wear that DPOG chain! According to the ESPN recap the Kings were down 14 in the 4th and down 6 in both overtimes which means it really did come down to stringing together multiple stops when it mattered most. I feel like most of those 18 steals came i the last 5 minutes of regulation and the OT periods. I don't know how else you can beat a team who just refused to miss all game long. That had to be the best defense ever played by a team that gave up 175 points! :)

Everybody showing up to dunk on Kawhi after this! He was unreal in this game as a shot maker, but I don't recall even noticing him on defense tonight which has got to be a first for him. Is his trademark defense slipping now that he's got to shoulder more of the offensive load or is it just that the Kings move the ball so much that there's no one for him to defend one-on-one?
He had 2 huge plays on Fox in second ot

**** Tony Brothers. You can't tell me he didn't have some coin on this game in some fashion. Dude is 2 feet away and misses the travel?
There are calls to argue but the ball left his hands before his feet came down. Wasn't a travel. The blocking call on Metu in crunch time was the worst. 100% textbook charge foul and they called it a block. That's the one to highlight.

Questionable is being super kind.

Inept is probably a better word.

We can say it now and not have it be ”sour grapes”. But that was DISGRACEFUL.

I realize that the FT numbers and total foul numbers ended up nearly identical between the teams, but at one point late in the 1st half the Clippers had like 20 attempts to the KINGS 8.

Domas continues to get hammered consistently w/o many calls then on the other end the slightest bump is called against him. The illegal screen was BS. And so was the late foul they called on him against Kawhi.

The blocking call against Metu — who was clearly set — was the point where I was completely convinced the officials were going to gift the game to the Clips.

But Malik and De’Aaron gave them a gigantic FU!
That blocking call was exceptionally painful knowing that they called a charge on Domas on way way less set Plumlee a quarter ago

Domas: 31 min 8-14 fg 0-1 3pt 4-4 ft 4 oreb 6 dreb 10 reb 4 ast 1 stl 1 blk 5 to 6 pf -2 +/- 20 pts
Fox: 45 min 17-27 fg 2-4 3pt 6-11 ft 0 oreb 5 dreb 5 reb 12 ast 5 stl 0 blk 3 to 3 pf -2 +/- 42 pts
Monk: 41 min 15-24 fg 6-12 3pt 9-10 ft 0 oreb 2 dreb 2 reb 6 ast 0 stl 0 blk 2 to 3 pf +22 +/- 45 pts

Those numbers, my friends, are WILD...

There was this great sequence with a few minutes to go in the 3rd quarter:

-Trey Lyles on defense while playing midground between covering the corner 3 and the elbow 3 on the weakside baits Norman Powell into a terrible pass.

-Lyles quickly snatches the pass for the steal and basically all in one motion as he hits the ground outlets the ball to De'Aaron

-Fox takes 3 dribbles in the blink of an eye and throws the ball up to Monk who's now at the ft line with a full head of steam.

-As Monk dunks that ball the shotclock reads 20 seconds.

Trey Lyles needs to be resigned! That above play is one of the first I'd cite as to why, he fits so well here..

Metu was particularly excellent tonight. He has added some good strength too really. Coach Brown deserves a lot of credit, I'm sure behind the scenes he's a big Metu advocate and on a night like tonight where Sabonis is on the bench with 6 fouls it makes him look really smart. If Metu's resigned I'll probably think of his contributions tonight. Though if I'm being totally objective the Clippers sure coulda used Zubac tonight.

Domas foul #2: bullcrap.
Domas foul #3: bullcrap.
Domas foul #4: bullcrap. Reviewed. Still bullcrap.
Domas foul #5: bullcrap.

Rough to foul out on 2 fouls. I'd be more angry except for the game result.
we need a Natasha Lyonne montage to get through this but she says "bullcrap" a little more forcefully.

You can't jump and begin a dribble when your feet are off the floor. Brothers indicated his foot was still on the ground but it doesn't look like it.
