I think we can conclude a lot from this game. Fox didn’t even have to play to show that he’s better then Haliburton
I mean, watching anyone not named Domantas struggle to dribble the ball into the arc is proof enough of how much this team needs Swipa as currently constructed.

Boston is just red hot. I don't even think the Kings played that bad.

May have been a different game with De'Aaron Fox playing

Tatum and Brown being physically incapable of missing certain made it hard to picture any scenario in which the Kings would have been able to win this game.

Indiana has a woseable game tomorrow vs Portland and is coming off a big woss vs Houston

things are getting interesting only a half game up. Don’t think we can catch the lowly four but I’ll take the 5 slot

if anything I think 6 is becoming entirely possible. Portland has a mega soft remaining schedule. Even with scrubs they should be able to win a 2-3 Of them

Between Domantas rubbing his knee all game and Swipa’s hand, we clearly have a path to a gentleman’s tank to end the season. Then again, we’re still in the play-in race technically.

Barnes for whatever reason is a guy that gets gassed from time to time. If Gentry wanted to win he would sit Barnes for a game or two when he is trending down.

Either way, tomorrows game is good for us. The Blazers almost stole a game vs BKN tonight and putting some distance between us and them is just as good as catching Indy in the 5 slot.

Agreed on the 4 slot. they're now 3.5 up on Indy at 5. But 5-8 are all within 3 games of each other; winning a few meaningless games at the end of the year could easily be the difference between the 5 slot and 8 slot. Not only protects staying in that tier 2 range (Davis, Murray, Mathurin, Griffin), but the 5 slot was a 42% chance at a top 4 with a 9% chance at 1. The 8 slot has a 26% chance at top 4 and 6% at 1. That's a huge difference in potential outcomes.

McNair just needs to step in and give himself the best odds to land a top pick. He has to know this summer needs to be a home-run if he wants to keep his job. Just can't afford the Walton special of 3 meaningless wins to close the season and drop draft position.

Missed the second half but looks like it ended like it started so happy for the tank

weirdly looking at the 2021 odds, Cavs were the 5th worse but only had a 2% chance of picking at 5. It was roughly 45% odds of top 4 and 53% 6-8, <1% of falling to 9, which seems like a pretty good place to be. Better than 90% odds of #7 or better, 65% of #6 or higher - and while getting a top 3 pick is the dream, there are historically tons of elite and all-NBA players who go in that range

So was it Swipa’s fault the KINGS lost by almost 30 tonight?!

I ask because I’ve been told his outstanding production of late has been meaningless and empty.

Same must apply to Sabonis and his monster stats tonight I suppose.

I’ll gladly take a couple more players just like them — and their empty stats ;)

Here is the KF.com circle of life.

Kings will win 1 in 10.

During the 9 losses, people talk about so and so's numbers being empty stats.

After the 1 win, people post passive aggressive "I told you so" posts about so and so's numbers not being empty.

If so and so misses a game and the Kings lose, you get snarky posts about so and so's numbers being meaningful after all.

Kings lose 4 of the next 5 with so and so playing and we start the whole cycle over again.

No, it’s about recognizing and acknowledging who is pulling their weight and who isn’t.

Fox and Sabonis are more than pulling their own weight.

Unfortunately there are a ton of so called fans that can’t see that their play isn’t meaningless or empty. Only meaningless from the standpoint that the team/org around them isn’t good enough to benefit from it.

That’s not on Fox and Sabonis. And it wasn’t on Tyrese while he was here either.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but it basically just means that our best players are almost never as good as the playoff teams best players. To me, all of our players stats for the last 16 years have been empty stats because not a single player or group of players have been able to get this team into the playoffs. The difference in having good players like Fox, Cousins, Sabonis, Gay, Hali etc only seems to amount to a few more meaningless wins each season. It's not their fault necessarily but it goes to show that our players have never really impacted wins and losses as much as a lot of other good players do.
