How many stops did the Kings get in the last 6 minutes of the game? I can only think of one and that was Giannis missing a layup.

The pattern to the Kings losses is normally the same. They'll go for really long stretches without getting a single stop. Usually their losses have a 6-9 minute stretch where the opposition seemingly scores every single time down the court. They've kept up a couple times in those situations, most notably the crazy Clippers game, but usually those stretches put the game in the loss column.

Sabonis had 23 FGA without a single FT tonight. It was an extremely physical game. I really didn't mind the refs holding their whistle at all. The flow was pretty good and I felt like they let both sides play. The only weak call was the one where Keegan got pushed into Middleton on the 3.
I thought Brown should’ve challenged that. I know there was over 7 minutes left but we were down only 3 and that made it 6. Wouldn’t have been the worse challenge he’s made. Never recouped after that.

I’d think at this point in the season and with the success, that Fox and Brown and some others would get a little bit of leash in regards to criticism from some. Fox was pretty good and he did it against Jrue who is extremely good. I thought Brown was doing everything he could to bring it home. Bucks are tough. Long as hell in the paint, big and physical. GA is the toughest guy to guard in the league. On to the next one

That "more" is going to be Monte's job is my guess. Fox one manning this team to greatness every game come crunch time is too much to ask and not a reasonable scenario when you're staring at 4 series of 7 games. The team needs another player that can carry the offense every night when needed because Domas at heart is the PG/C, not Shaq.
It doesn't matter whether another player is added to the roster or not. Fox needs to do more and he can do more regardless of whether there is another player on the roster. I guess I see a higher ceiling to Fox than you do.

It looks to me like he's tired. Not sure if it's just this point in the season, new baby at home, or what. But body language between plays is what I'm looking at. I'm sure our world class training staff is working with him.

Agree he's earned a longer leash though.

Tough loss, but the Bucks are the best team in the NBA with, in my opinion, the best player in the NBA, and they're pretty much the consensus pick for winning it all this year. No shame in putting up a fight against a squad like that and losing. The Kings are for real, but they're not in the championship contender conversation yet. That said, I think it's fantastic that our expectations have gotten so high this season that we recognize the Kings have a legitimate chance to win on any given night, even against the league's best.

Presented without comment:

edit: Actually do have a comment.

I don't condone fighting, BUT... :p

I got such a kick out of Matt Barnes' lightning quick response to the whole "I don't condone fighting, but..." deal. Don't remember his exact words but his vibe was like "Yes I fully agree with the "BUT" part of Katie's statement" lol you love to see it.

It's a fair point. We are our own worst enemy. I'm not sure that the rest of the NBA has an answer for Giannis either though. That dude is just unguardable.

We reduced Jrue to a non-factor, it was Middleton's insane 3 point shooting and Giannis being Giannis that doomed us.

Can you imagine we're talking about being ill prepared for a potential Finals matchup at this stage of our trajectory? We won 30 games last season. There's like 3 other teams that can beat you inside and out as soundly as the Bucks just did, and one is only a theoretical at this point.

Great game... bucks are tremendous. Lopez seemed a bit out of control/roid-raged, but I do have to say this is the first year it seems to me that he's totally put everything together. Great inside game, deadly with the three, and now leading contender for defensive player of the year (not sure if that's warranted or not statistically, but that's certainly the narrative and I would think for the most part well deserved.) He doesn't get thrown into the top tier or two of centers, but the guy is now totally a beast that I think that's what makes the bucks the likely champion this year. Reminds me a bit of Marc Gasol and his overall impact on those grizzlies teams, except the bucks also have Giannis.

I haven't seen any announcements, but my guess is Trey gets a three game suspension. The league isn't going to condone violently grabbing someone by the throat with a death grip. Hopefully Keegan steps back up in his absence and we get some more run with Edwards.

He's got to get in better shape. He's had a ton of down time just before the All Star break and after. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Brown had a conversation with him after the season about improving his cardio, a la Stephen Curry. If he can get better cardio he could take that last big step to greatness.

I think the glass is half full and this extra pt for Keegan and Edwards is going to help the Kings going into the playoffs. Lyles should be well rested as well.

And the KINGS have had many games where they rode their starts to victory. They did so by outlasting a classic Kawhi performance, with PG also playing well. They just did it against against PHX the other night. And against #77 and Kyrie not that long ago.

Tonight the Bucks were the team that stayed hot. If we played them again tomorrow, it's possible the exact opposite happens.

It was one of 82. And strange things happen over 82. The key is to have it happen for you more times than against you.

So far the KINGS have been doing just that.
Yes, that star was named De'Aaron Fox.

A higher ceiling? Dude's already playing like a superstar. Not just an allstar, a superstar. Superstars need reinforcements. If Jordan eventually needed help, everyone does.

Considering Marcus Smart got off with a $25k fine for essentially tackling Trae Young, I don't know that Lyles will get suspended when no punches were thrown and no one got hurt.

We play with this energy and intensity in Chicago and we'll blow them out. I continue to be encouraged - also, Fox is back in a good rhythm. It's not easy to miss a week and jump right back in. Over the last few weeks he's continued to miss a game or two here and there, and it can throw anyone off a bit. Im looking forward to him staying healthy going into the playoffs.

Did Giannis say or do anything that caused Trey to shove him? I love Trey and the message he sent that the Kings will not back down, however, to be fair, it looked like Trey started the whole thing. Did I miss something? Was Giannis talking to the Kings bench? Was there anything Giannis did to instigate?

Giannis was kind of being a brat. He dribbled in front of Trey and it looks like he hooked him a little with his arm when he stopped in front of Lyles and Lyles didn't like it. Lyles certainly overreacted but Giannis knew what he was doing.

here is a question that I haven’t seen answered. If you were dribbling out the clock and then all of a sudden an opposing player tries to steal the ball and then pushes you with some force, what would your reaction be? If it was me, I’d either me surprised or pissed. Giannis did not seem surprised he was pushed nor was he angry. He seemed like he knew why it happened. That’s suspect.

do they normally dole out suspensions inside of 24 hours? I assumed there was an automatic appeal and they typically announce on the second day.
I think the only guideline the NBA has is to dole out any suspension before the next game that particular player plays.

Assuming Brook is not getting suspended for his game today, Lyles will be on the hot seat until the Kings game tomorrow.

Also to be fair, matching up Chimezie Metu on him for stretches, is a recipe for a 45+ point game.
I just don't see anyone on our roster who can do the job. Maybe KZ when we still had him, but even that is a stretch. Monte is going to have to go out and find a defensive specialist at the PF/C position at some point over the next few years. We can get stops against guards and wing creators somewhat reliably when the whole team is engaged defensively and guys are putting forth the level of effort needed but we have no answers for mobile and skilled bigs.
