[Game] Kings versus Bucks, 12/23/10 Game Thread

I know it's depressing but I can't help finding it a little bit funny when our two "franchise players" score a total of 6 points on a combined 3-17 shooting.

There was something just so off in the demeanor of both of those guys. In the feel of the whole team in fact, Some individual good efforts...but this was a bad thing, whatever it was. Maybe if we had pulled it off somehow it could have been healed/overlooked. But this felt like time for a team meeting sort of stuff out there.

I was really enjoying the effort on defense and the offense up until the 4th quarter. I just need to turn off the TV after 3. My fault, really.

Actually, Tyreke's personality seems to be very similar to mine when it comes to competition. He probably is only emotive around some people, which is how I am. Pretty sure you're someone who has no understanding whatsoever of that personality type.

I'm the same way and I've had people mistake my quietness/calmness for not caring before, too. People just assume that if they can't read your body language or facial expressions that you don't care.

Maybe so, but that doesn't mean he's a scrub, like you've been saying. It just means that we need to find someone who can be an emotional leader for everyone else. I don't feel special for having that personality. It sucks ***. I would never choose to be like that.

In all honesty, the guy needs a new coach that going to get it in his head that he's not a SHOOTER and just a drive and kick player while he develops a shot. Last year was the real Tyreke but the critics kept saying "He needs a jumper or he'll be to easy to defend" so he took to his head now he thinks he shooter McGavin... NOOOO! Go back to the guy teams feared because you were going to attack the basket at all costs.

If the coaching isn't getting through to the players to fix these mistakes, then it's time for a player's only meeting where they can own up to themselves to play better (especially offensively). The issue is: who on this team would lead that meeting? That's one of the biggest problems we have. No substantial veteran leadership exists at all.

I think it's Chauncey Billups time. Do it Petrie.

At this point, it appears that "some" of our players play with out any care or fire so why should the fans care? Just go through the motions until you see something out there that resembles a team that maybe wants to play (together) and communicate.

OUr rookie certinaly has personality, but nobody is going to listen to his bunk. We have several vets with low levels of leadership in Beno, Cisco, Landry, but they clearly aren't team leaders. Jason has some influence wiht the kids, but can he call the vets out? There's just nobody to do it unless some large part of the team recruits Tyreke to stand with them, muter a few things, and tries to hash it out.

I don't remember anything about a player meeting, and I follow the Kings very closely. Google news search also failed me. I think you're mistaking the Kings for a team with actual leadership.

Hmmm...I can't remember us having one since last season. I do remember us having one last year after a big loss at home, but this season? Don't think so..

I think you're confusing it with the time our Dance Team had a dancers only meeting after a few timing mishaps over several halftime shows. It was led by Slamson. Other than that, no player's meetings that I recall.

Yea I think I remember something like that. IIRC it was after Miami's player only meeting. They probably thought if it worked for Miami it will probably work for us...

Yeah it was right after The Heat did it. Glad someone else remembers it. I was starting to think I dreamed it up.

Funny isn't it how some teams always seem to do well even when they dont have the best talent. There are coaches out there that could do something with these Kings. Obviously Westfail cant seem to come up with combination to get it done.

Westphal does not know what he's doing. I can't remember the last time the Kings ran a good play coming out of a timeout. Even last year at the end of games Westphal kept running the same play over and over...1-4 iso. The man just relies on Tyreke to make him look good.
