Anthony Davis...

Casspi and Rudy should have taken turns on Anderson. The matchup against him is to use long players who play the 3 position. For us that's Casspi and Gay.

I think in certain matchups, we should try using Rudy as a stretch 4

I'm a hater for saying AD is overrated?
Pretty much, yeah. Overrated would be if Davis were getting this kind of hype and putting up Serge Ibaka numbers; that would be overrated. You're not overrated when the media says that you're great, and your numbers back it up.

Opinions are invalid here too I guess.
Only incorrect ones. I mean, it's still a free country, though; you have the right to be wrong.

I'm going to chug on my haterade tonight!
Cheers!

The argument against him seems to be, if I may paraphrase here, "he dunks too much."

Also, the media likes him too much.
He wide open dunks too much, yes. His FG% is a bit of an illusion. He gets 3-4 freebies a game. Then when it comes time to win the game, the question really becomes can you stop Reke and Jrue. Because you stop them, you largely stop AD. He's just not going to beat you himself at the level his stardom suggests he would. There's a lot of Blake Griffin/Chris Paul in what he does offensively.

This minimizes Davis' impact, because it implies that if, say, Tyson Chandler or DeAndre Jordan or Kenneth Faried or Taj Gibson got seventeen shots a game as the focal point of an offense, that they could average twenty-five points. And I don't really think that's true.

Woah, opinions can be incorrect? Alright.............. alright....... good night Mr Citrus.

Maybe he's not aware of the numbers? Here goes - Anthony Davis currently leads the NBA in Blocks and Steals, is #2 in Plus/Minus, #3 in points, #4 in rebounds. He is #1 in PER with 36, which is 8 points higher than the next player and 11 points higher than Lebron. So yes, these numbers will probably drop a bit, but he's in no way overrated. He deserves all the credit.

He deserves credit, but Bricklayer rightfully pointed out, that you need a specific supporting cast and playstyle in order to get these numbers out of AD. You need Guards, that can break down the defense and make room for AD's rolls to the basket, lobs and open midrange jumpers. You have to play uptempo basketball, to make use of his insane quickness. Force AD in the halfcourt and do a decent job containing his guards and he will lose some of his effectivness.
But what makes him so special, is that he shows signs of developing a very fluid 1vs1 game, by using his quick first step and beautiful half-hooks and fade-aways.

He is the opposite of DMC. A modern, skilled and quick PF fitting perfectly into todays fast paced, PG-heavy playstyle. I guess that's where all the hype is coming from.
I would still prefer DMC for my franchise, just because i m a supporter of a slow-paced playstyle where you get to work inside the paint.

Davis sucks. He's too skinny, by far. Doesn't create his own offense. Needs great players around him to succeed. And if he were on the Kings, OMG, we would be talking about NBA Championship, not the 8th seed.

Davis and Blake share that problem of awful/awkward footwork in the post. Both could so much better if they ever sort that out, suspect Davis will.

Can't get too high on wins or too low on losses. I'm just glad we've reached respectable level now, with some more seasoning and added shooters(maybe Stauskus and Ben become that for us) we can be a dangerous team in a couple of years.

Pretty much. He fits the vision. A sort of super Marcus Camby.

I don't think anyone dislikes Davis. Some just dislike the nonsense that follows him around.

I hate this lazy super pick and roll player nonsense. His perimeter skills are so far ahead of the names being thrown around. Chandler with a over a decade on Davis doesn't even bare comparison, unless you choose, due to ignorance or bias, to only focus on one aspect of his game.

Neither has awful footwork. Davis actually has good footwork for his age, and has come a long way since he was actually awful just a few years ago.

Well I'm going on the limited viewings I've had. Blake is notoriously bad. Always shooting with his back to the basket and Davis was very awkward last night. just my opinion they both look out of place in the post.

Media on Cuz- "Cousins is mature now?"
Media on AD- "Best big man in the NBA"
Last night on ESPN first take while they were discussing that Okafor kid, both Stephan. A Smith and Skip went out of there way to call DMC the best big man (Center) in the NBA , this whole DMC is not getting attention thing is a load of rubbish. They bought him up while discussing someone completely different.

While I acknowledge ESPN first take is rubbish (I watch it cause it's on late at night here and there's literally nothing better), at least they are talking about the Kings a bit now. Skip still seemed a bit salty about Cuz destroying as he like to put it "My Spurs"

Yes, its all turned very fast. I spent much of last season haranguing many of the same voices which are now suddenly rushing to congratulate Cuz. It really goes to show you just how artificial and ridiculous hype is. Last season even with the massive numbers there was no argument I could make that could garner much more than yeah, that's interesting from almost any talking head. then boom, Cuz makes the US team, helps them win gold, we win a few games to start the season, and people are piling over themselves to acknowledge what they should have already been acknowledging.

Reminds me of the Noah nonsense last year. Or the DRose MVP (think Chicago must be particularly good at working these things). Still, cool as it is, its still too new and too fresh to be secure in it. We absolutely need to build on this and hang in there as a team to be reckoned with. Hang in long enough, get Cuz to the All Star game, keep people talking, and eventually it becomes secure. His image becomes well known, and people will just prattle on from that point with the new narrative set in their heads. This is his moment now, you don't want to blow it.

Great comment, end of day it's all about getting those W's (imo staying at 500. in the West is tough) and actually allowing more people to watch the team and realize how talented some of the players on the team are.
