Anthony Davis...

Mm you misunderstand my post. It was brought up by a particular poster in another thread that Davis couldn't create his own offense, and the Pelicans not going to him down the stretch for a bucket was proof of that.
How many times did Davis create his shot tonight? Rewatch the game. I'll be here. How many shots out of the many did he take, came from himself creating his own shot? Ok, I'm here waiting. Since you act like you know everything and watch every Pelicans game. Please tell me?

Still trying to figure out why Kings Fans seem incapable of appreciating the greatness of DeMarcus Cousins while also acknowledging that Anthony Davis is also great? Is it more of that small market inferiority complex showing itself?
It's not just Kings fans..... you do realize that it's the media right? Best NEXT big man in the NBA... Cousins or Davis? You do realize that right?

PDA...Get us a bench!

We need another big. Another bench scorer. And some defenders.

Roleplayers.

We are close, but our bench is costing us games.

Malone should just go full Adelman and play all of our starters 38 mpg, and only go 8 deep on the rotation...

...Fouls permitting of course :p

We can blame the bad rotations but our bench backcourt once again was a net negative tonight, with Nik providing a little offense whilst simultaneously making Eric Gordon look like Blake Griffin rookie year Eric Gordon and Ray generally doing a bit of an IT impression on offense (he did do some good work on defense, to his credit).

Also, what the hell was Landry doing on defense? His reluctance to guard Anderson led to nine essentially free points for New Orleans

Nowadays, we call that a Thibodeau. Poor Jimmy Butler's legs are going to fall off from all those minutes he's playing.

WOW that game really sucked. Poor effort by the whole team.
Rudy Gay - played like he was injured
Cuz - Played like he was injured
JT - Took the 2nd half off
Ben - will the real Ben Mac please stand up. That was last year Ben
Collison - not a good game. Was not a factor
Casspi = for all the praise they were giving him on tv, he sure played some horrible defense
Landry - looked VERY OLD trying to guard Anderson on the perimeter. Probably cost us the game.
Nic - cant have him on the floor when he plays that badly.

I would not be surprised if there were not a couple of people go on the injury report after this game. It sure looked like the Pelicans had rested last night and the Kings were on a back to back. They all played like their shoes were in mud. Loss this video and will somebody PLEASE teach Nik and Ben to stay with an outside shooter.

I'll take your little rant as an act of emotion even if there was no cursing...

I disagree. I can't put a guy who scores 71% of his buckets from assists as an MVP candidate. If you consider top 5 or top 10 a candidate, fine. Personally, I call them candidates if they have a legitimate shot at winning the MVP.

He is an excellent pick and roll player and is lucky enough to be blessed with freakish athleticism and length to help him finish above the rim. Once he refines his game and can consistently score without relying on others, there's no doubt he's going to be an easy candidate for MVP, but right now? No.

If you want to argue semantics about what qualifies as a "candidate," feel free to talk until you're blue in the face. In my eyes, you're a candidate if you have a chance at winning, and with the current talent we have in the league, I don't think he has a chance.
There's no way playing better. There just isn't. He is the leading contender becuse the media says he is, and they vote on such things last I checked.

Scoring isn't even his biggest strength, btw. He leads the league in blocks and steals. That's never been done. That alone will dazzle the people who vote on such things. That's if leading the league in win shares does nothing for you.

I'm just a casual observer of this whole Davis MVP argument but had to respond to your post here. Let's be real, there are two players that are legitimate threats to be MVP: Lebron and A healthy Durant. Those two guys are going to get most of the votes and consideration.
However, there are guys that are putting up MVP level numbers night-in and night-out and will deserve to be considered. Anthony Davis is one of them.

I just think the "they're only MVP candidates if they have a chance to win it" argument is just silly. That demeans the nightly performances of everyone outside of Lebron and Durant simply because they aren't one of the two best players in the world.

What we desperately need is shooting in the starting lineup. We need a Ryan Anderson or a Kevin Martin. If we picked up a defensive big alongside Cuz, I would be all for it to get Kevin Martin. Give them Nik instead of Ben with Williams expiring.. anything. We have a lot of difficulty scoring when it counts the most. We are a bad shooting team and they pack the paint hard which is why Rudy has a hard time finishing in the paint. Desperately need someone to start shooting well or get a shooter.

Davis gets easy buckets because of his engine, athleticism and freakish length. The guy sprints up and down the floor for 38 minutes, and when your that tall and athletic buckets will just come easy. He also has great IQ. Cant see how anyone can hate on him.

Lol their main 4 starters played a tough close road game last night while our guys had 2 days rest off a home game and they all played more minutes than ours.

Hate to say it but Sessions in there over Stauskas would have been much better for us

I don't hate on Davis. He still has weaknesses though. I really liked him in college and like him now. I just critique his game like I do anyone.

I mostly hate how the media anointed him the next savior before making the playoffs. Boogie has had to beast just to remind the media who he is and what he does. It's not like NO or Sac are worlds apart in media attention. The media just took one and gave it love, and then ignored the other. Treating Boogie like Devito in Twins.

Nobody in 'the media' is saying that either Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins is overrated. Or did you not understand the question? Nobody was asking whether or not the media was gassing up Davis.

How many open ****ing looks are they going to give Ryan Anderson and how many open dunks is Davis going to get I mean seriously, they was pathetic the amount of rubbish baskets we gave up, Davis was air balling when not getting wide open dunks. Comes back to basketball IQ just crap basketball on the pick n roll D. Mclemore should have been defending in the 4th on Gordon, Staskus might right now be the worst perimeter defender in the L.

I agree. I'd rather just trade Nik straight up for K-Mart. If we're serious about the playoffs this year, Nik shouldn't be a part of our team. He's been such a liability on both ends of the floor. He has 0 confidence in his shot... any time he gets the ball, he hesitates for a good 2s before he can decide what he wants to do with it. He's so indecisive.. it's worse than Ben on offense last year.

His defense has been terrible too. He didn't have Ben's problem last year, but Ben didn't have his problems last year. Almost EVERY SG he goes against, they attack him knowing it's a easy 2 for them. Nik is terrible. Right now, he gives us 0. I won't be upset if he gets benched for the next few games. He's hurting the team rather than helping. It's ridiculous to see how terrible Nik has been struggling. 2nd rounder Joe Harris is outplaying Nik.

Collison had a +7 in a 6 point loss. McCallum -16 and Stauskas -15.
And Collison only plays 30 mins? Less than 4 in the 4th quarter? What the hell was Malone doing

The argument against him seems to be, if I may paraphrase here, "he dunks too much."

Also, the media likes him too much.

It's been Davis vs. Cousins in terms of the future best big man in the NBA. The only one who keeps Cousins relevant is Shaq. No one acknowledges Cousins at all. I'm watching ESPN right now, and they had a segment on Anthony Davis.. The question for them was, "Would you rather watch Kobe, or Anthony Davis?" Cousins get 0 love from the media..

Why can't we be like the media and not care about Anthony Davis? That's what they do to Cousins.

We actually needed Sessions in that game as another scorer/rim attacker, I'm sure he could have done something against Austin Rivers.
