Only reason I didn't bring up Gay was that his teams got better after his departure. Which might be the case here too, history does repeat itself.

Rondo went to the corner because the ball rolled over there. It was either go get it or let someone else get it. And while you can see his near the sidelines, it is inconclusive whether or not he went up the sideline. Especially when you consider that the 2 Refs close to him didn't make the call. They had a better view and didn't seem to think that Rondo had made a violation.
Look, the call may be inconclusive but there is absolutely ZERO ways in which you can excuse Rondo for not just inbounding the ball. He picks up the ball at the "O" of Sacramento. He gets called for the violation standing outside where the 3 point line would extend to. He picks the ball up, takes a good two or three steps towards the corner for absolutely no reason and may or may not have stepped up the sideline. I mean, someone in this thread or the grades thread said "maybe he was upset that (the Wizards) scored instead of dribbling it out". The Wizards were down, it's perfectly normal to not dribble it out. Rondo seemed to be looking to set up someone for one more quick shot in a 14 point victory.

Exactly! I mean, look at Collison and Omri...they are both standing there calling for the ball. It's just stupidity. These are the kinds of things that Rondo does that takes away from a lot of the positives he does on the court.

He has these incidents more often than we would like but the fact still remains that you don't let a player of his talent just walk. The Kings have been way too good at just letting talent walk, if Rondo isn't coming back at least have a PG or two in line to pursue instead.

Here's what I saw on the replay and there is a slight chance I don't know where Rondo's feet are when he throws the ball in. Rondo follows the ball to the corner. He picks it up behind the baseline and he is not up the side line. He is not up the sideline at any point. He does not hold the ball longer than 5 seconds. Rondo gently tosses the ball in.
I don't think Rondo did anything wrong. Maybe Grant has an opinion on the original violation call. I'd love to hear it. Sure, you go with the call on the court but really, occasionally refs make mistakes.

I too think the call was kinda ??? but more important to me is the fact that Rondo put himself in that position for no reason whatsoever. Glenn's account of the events is simply not accurate. Rondo picked up the ball then took a few steps to the side looking to do a baseball pass. There was no need for that. He could have literally picked up the ball at the O as he did and tossed it in there and then. If he does that none of this even becomes as issue.

You can see it on that nba feed, as well (it may or may not be the CSN feed) - he creeps along the baseline, looking downcourt, then steps up the baseline with his left foot before dropping the ball awkwardly to Collison. It was stupid of him not to just inbound the ball, and his mental peculiarities are hard to defend this year, after this incident and the previous double-tech inbounding incident.
It doesn;t mean he shouldn;t be re-signed - it means that he should be talked to, and asked what is going on, why he's screwing around so much, and he'd better be convincing when saying he wouldn;t pull this crap in a serious season during serious games. I don;t think he would be pulling this crap if the front office didn't torpedo the season by not getting rid of Karl either during the off-season or at All-Star break. This was a wasted season, all the players knew it, and Rondo is the kind of personality type that has to be fully engaged in the competitive endeavor or else he will demonstrate negative behaviors.
That all said, the ref demonstrated the exact kind of behavior that the league has been punishing their refs for, and have repeatedly stated they don;t want them doing - injecting themselves into the game.
The ref had NO BUSINESS making that call, since the two others who's responsibility it was chose to let that little violation go.
The ref very clearly was having no business with letting Rondo get away with ANY violation, no matter how small or unimportant.
This shows an unbalanced, personal bias of the ref which I would predict would be mentioned/reprimanded by the league (privately, of course, since they never reveal internal disciplinary ref actions).
But after looking at that clip for the 5th time, I noticed something weird - the two guys closest to the coaches in the front row are out-and-out laughing with glee when Demarcus is reacting to getting the tech.
Those two guys, who are either involved with the team, or have THE MOST PREMIER SEATS IN THE ENTIRE ARENA, are openly deriving much pleasure at Demarcus getting screwed by a biased ref's collateral damage.

Cuz did not "get himself suspended." That petty ref did it cause his poor feelings got hurt and he called a few Ts at the end of a game just to be a tough guy. Good for him. He robbed fans the chance to see Demarcus tonight. So, good for him. Bad for the league though. Bad for business.

ESPN said the violation was delay of game. Clearly no one seems to know what triggered this whole fiasco. I presume that Rondo didn't run fast enough to get the ball. It's a curiosity, that's all. We have discussed a lot of subjects that bore the crap out of me. Now let it be my turn.

My wife is one of those people who got robbed of seeing a good game by this ref, so I'm personally pissed at him letting his personal bias get in the way of calling the game properly.
This will be her last game at the arena, and the only one she's seen in years, and this incident made a mockery of tonight's game.
That said, the pre-game tonight showed the opposite baseline angle, which showed Rondo clearly stepping up the baseline before he let go of the ball (like I described before).
This is likely a clear violation of the rules.
There are TONS of rules violations that are not called during the game.
When inbounding the ball particularly, there are frequent violations that aren't called, to allow the game to continue when no benefit is gained.
James Ham said during tonight's pre-game, that Marc Davis "has history with both Demarcus AND Rondo."
What I don;t get is - when a ref calls fouls differently against players they "have had history with", why aren't they publicly questioned/reprimanded?

The taunting of the ref (who was already angry) was certainly intentional. Maybe Cousins didn't think the ref would actually T him up, but he should have known better and it was certainly his own fault.
Let me tell you a little story, true story, actually happened. I was in 7th or 8th grade and the math class I was in was getting *very* unruly. I wasn't really a part of it, because I was a "good" kid, but it was getting out of control, and finally the teacher snapped enough to get the attention of the entire class. "ALL RIGHT!" she yelled, "WHOEVER WANTS A DETENTION, RAISE YOUR HAND!" And despite not even being part of the original problem, me being a smart ass I raised my hand.
Guess what? I got a detention.
I didn't actually want that detention, I didn't think she would give me the detention, but she did, and it was my own fault.
The thing is, I recognized that it was my own fault and I never did anything like that again. And I was only 13 or so, and it only took once.
Cousins has had six years in this league as a grown man to learn how to not get a "detention", yet he still gets 10+ a year. He's already missed one "field trip" because of too many "detentions", yet despite having been told that one more would cause him to miss another "field trip" he raised his hand for another "detention". Lesson not learned. And it's really frustrating.

Maybe if he is here long enough to go through some winning with this team, I can see him toning it down. Until then, this is what you will get out of him, whether we like it or not. It's time to accept him for what he is.

Good for you. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cousins upbringing was quite different than yours. Expecting the same learning curve and maturation process is only going to disappoint.
