Doug asking the same question. Why did Marc Davis make the initial call from 45 feet away when the two officials actually in the picture didn't? There were six seconds left and Rondo got a delay of game technical for not inbounding the ball quickly enough? The ball was inbounds before Davis came into the frame.

My complaint - and Doug apparently agrees - is that Rondo shouldn't have been called for the foul in the first place.
I don't think that it was a foul call. I think the official called an inbounding violation. I think they ruled that he crossed the extension of the baseline and went up the sideline before inbounding it.

Not defending the refs here but I think the initial call was a delay of game T, probably not really warranted and obviously not necessary. The applause thing was stupid, but was it disrespectful enough for a T? SMH
How was it a delay of game? I keep watching it over and see no infraction. Not 5 seconds. No one was fouled. Why was whistle blown?

I'm still trying to understand what the hell happened?
I am guessing that whoever was supposed to bring the ball in dicked around and stalled a bit and the official called a foul. (WHAT??) Then Rondo and Cuz mocked the official for making the call by applauding him as they walked towards him. They both got techs. Now I agree that they were mocking and shouldn't have done that. I just don't get the original call.

And then to pour salt on the wound, Grant has to open his damn mouth and point out how unsportsmanlike it was. I'm more pissed at Grant than anything else. Of course now Cuz won't play the next game because he has hit the magic number of techs. I don't care as if we lose, we have less a chance of losing our draft pick.

It's just bizarre.

I don't know. I also don't understand how Marc Davis FROM MIDCOURT could have seen something the two officials right there didn't.

Thanks. I don't think I could have slept without some type of explanation. I kinda see it now that you pointed it out. He was blocked by fans from my angle.

What a wonderful game again! Love this team. So much talent and good chemistry. I really hope this team comes back basically unchanged next season. You see, scoring is not a problem for this team. They practically score at will against just about any team. Love to see the developing chemistry between Casspi and Collison. I didn't want Rondo, but I have changed my mind 180 degrees. He has proven to be a great baller and something that makes big Cuz so much more efficient. Quincy fights for the boards and hits his shots from anywhere. Willie is a gem and Rudy is very effective when he is not trying to overdue it. This team doesn't need a offensive coach. They simply are naturally talented at it. Bring in a good defensive coach and this will be a really scary team for just about anybody to meet.

Not sure what was on the popcorn Carmichael Dave was eating tonight...

He apparently thinks DMC may have that procedure before the end of the season. I think Dave is wrong. I cannot imagine DMC not wanting to be a part of the April 9 events. Not be on the court in front of all those former Kings? Makes no sense whatsoever. I'm challenging Dave on this one.

I see that technical becoming rescinded

It's funny how everybody always flips out on the refs for just doing their job. I ask you, at what point is it the players faults for being idiots at the end of a game that has been decided? First of all, it was a VIOLATION that was called, not a foul, not a delay of game. Instead of just inbounding the damn ball, Rondo was being a jackass and moving out of the area he was supposed to throw it in from. I have no idea why the other officials didn't call it. Was the game over? Yes it was. But Rondo is making a mockery of the game.

The T's were easy. You come over to an official and sarcastically clap like that then you're going to get a T. Just act like f'ing professionals for once in your life, inbound the ball, let the time run out, and walk off the court a winner. I swear to God, this team is just completely incompetent, even in a win.

After a made basket, a player can throw it in from anywhere along the base line. The ball had rolled all the way to one side. The Ref took exception to the fact that Rondo didn't hurry to get the ball. There is no set rule that dictates how quickly a player has to get the ball; only that he has 5 seconds after he picks it up. 5 seconds hadn't even elapsed since the basket was made from what I could tell.

There's no doubt that Rondo and Cousins shouldn't have clapped at the Ref, but it was a bogus call and everyone knows it.

Are people really arguing with you? I'm not.

I have now been treated to two of the most bizarre out of bounds incidents courtesy of Rondo. There was that one a month or so ago where he fiddled with the ball a couple times for no reason whatsoever. This was on the sidelines. This thing last night made no sense either. I can understand Boogie losing his temper as it is something I have done. I am not defending him but just saying it at least makes a little sense. (Please let's not start another Boogie is a child argument.) What Rondo has done makes no sense whatsoever.

Do Rondo's actions in these two incidents make sense to anyone? Any guesses?

Er, but still, it was odd. You may be right. The claim was that he walked up the sideline. I didn't know that was wrong. He disappeared from view on my tv. I hope there is something on Youtube so it can be reviewed just for the heck of it. I am not defending Rondo or Cousins but just want to review what actually happened. Telemachus might be right.

I'm aware of the rule. The problem was he was no longer on the endline, but started going up the sideline.

Sorry Glenn but I'm just so frustrated with this team. It seemed like in this thread a lot of posters were putting the blame on the official.

I just wish our team wasn't filled with unprofessional guys who have no idea how to win.

I don't want this to be a battle to the death but I am curious if there is a rule against going up the sideline. Perhaps he also had used up his 5 seconds of possession. Weird.

I'm positive it was for going up the sideline. After a made basket you have to inbound from the end line.

Rondo, Belinelli, Butler, Collison, Casspi have all been on either playoff teams or championship teams so it's not as if they all of a sudden forgot what it takes to win. I have watched a number of Collison post game interviews and he is spot on every time, basically preaching what we all have been saying here on these boards for months.

Koufos too. Even Gay.

You seem to be the only one who is sure of that. I have heard several people speculate that he went up the sideline, but none who actually saw it.

Whistle blows as Rondo moves into the passing motion shown above, so it's quite possible that Rondo took a step onto the sideline as he moved to pass. Picture isn't clear but you can see he appears to not be completely behind the baseline
