5 assists 1 TO is passive from Stauskas? To me, that's more impressive than dropping 20 in summer league. Shows discipline and knowing that the right play was to get looks to McLemore and Brooks tonight.
Feels like we're also gearing up to go into the season with Acy as back-up C. And TBH, I don't mind it. He's more than held his own here in SL, and back-up bigs, especially C's, aren't a whole lot more talented than what he's faced with so far. Landry operates as your 6th man post presence with the bench unit. Should work out.

I kinda want the Pelicans to make the playoffs with Evans Jimmer and Omri... Just to support my point that "Maloofery" is overblown, at least in terms of team construction (and not organisational management)

Stauskas was the most consistent guy on the roster this SL, coaching stuff saw, what he can do already, time to give him a bit of rest, and use the time to evaluate other guys for training camp invite. Ben was having a great game, sorely needed for his confidence, so between him and Nik it was obvious, whose minutes would be cut. Plus they are experimenting all the time: it feels for a part of this game he was asked to play a limited PG - just facilitate.

Stauskas did look tired today but he did other things to help the team, kept ball movement going and racked up some assists. Also him just being out there provides floor spacing. Got burned a few times on defense(more than past games), could be due to fatigue or just playing against better players.

If you think you have two starters, you are deluding yourself. A starter should stand out head and shoulders above any other player.
Either you had some sort of weird cut-and-paste issue with the quote function, or you were trying to do something with my post that I'm not privy to...
Obviously I'm not saying they're the exact same team, but rather that the pieces were there, i.e. maybe the Maloofs weren't actively trying to field the worst team ever (as some seem to imply) and maybe the coach/ fit of some players/ pure youth and inexperience was a bigger issue. Omri is probably going to be waived anyway so it's not like I'm really being serious here. I'm personally looking forward to seeing Jimmer and Tyreke actually playing proper minutes together, but that will probably be very dependent on how much Jimmer has improved.

Why must we go there? Ben had a good game and Nik didn't, yet you still take a shot at Ben.
Ben is a freakish athlete, with a smooth jumper. Until he got to the NBA, whenever he stepped on the court, he could easily out athlete people and do what he wanted on the court. So much so, that he was drafted in the lottery in the NBA. Now that Ben is here, all those things he didn't HAVE to do, he is now working on. In other words, he is raw. But all indications are that he's a hard worker and coachable. He's not dumb. He lacks game experience with certain things and that will take time. There are already flashes.
Nik has a different situation. He's had to work on his body and game at an earlier point in his career. He's a very good athlete, but not freakish. So as far as fine tuning his game, he's at a different place. He's not smarter than Ben. He has more in game application of the things Ben is working on right now.
Freakish athletes win titles more often than basketball IQ guys. Whatever bbiq means. That is why big time athletes get drafted so high on potential. NBA execs know you need them to win. Before anyone brings up San Antonio, I would argue that Ginobli is freakish as is Leonard. We don't what Ben's ceiling is, but it would benefit the team for him to reach it, because he's that type of athlete.
We all want Nik to do well, but let's be honest about our observations. When we tear down another player to prop up our favorites, that's weak. So is the excuse that some have made that Nik is tired. Nik will have lots more good games. But making excuses for him when he doesn't. is going polarize the board for sure.

How is it a "shot?" Ben was historically awful last year, history is in the books. I think even he would admit he hurt us last year. Moreover it's simply speculation, Nik might end up being even worse than Ben in his rookie year but from limited viewings I think, It's likely he'll be able to do other things to help the team than Ben simply couldn't (last year.) Things that when Ben attempted to do, he hurt us.
I think you're reaching a bit suggesting I'm attempting to "tear down" someone to "prop up" someone else.
As for Nik being tired, I think he was, obviously these games stacking up have tested him, he'll have to work on his conditioning big time. (thats not a shot)
I know you're talking generally but I'm certainly not being dishonest with my observations, if someone plays badly I'm gonna say it, whether it's Cuz or Cunningham.

Ugh if you can't play basketball athleticism means little skilled + athletic > skilled > athletic.

Skill can be developed, athleticism can't . Which again is why NBA execs draft super athletes and work to develop their skill set. They don't draft skilled players with high bbiq and work on their athleticism.
Ben can play ball. You don't accidentally score 30 in an NBA game or 20 in summer league.

Many 19-20-year olds just can't handle huge amounts of money, fame and expectations thrown at them basically overnight. Nobody comes into the League ready to compete for a championship. They must come, work on their game, get experience and then you can talk about leading the team, and quite a few just lose the focus on the way with all the distractions. And Mclemore hasn't played as a guard for very long (I believe, he started as a HS senior or even in Kansas the year, he was redshirted), same with guys like JT or Moreland, who started learning big man play in college. So, yeah, BMac had a pretty low foundation, but the only comment, I had last year after the draft, was "Whatever his ceiling is, he will likely reach it"...
He may not have enough time to do it, while on Kings roster though...

Think about it this way. Duke has great bbiq players and good athletes. Smart guys. They consitently win at the college level. Yet Kentucky produces more quality NBA talent despite not being hi bbiq guys. The reason is they recruit elite athletes.

I think that's one thing we do need to give Ben credit for. He's been a model citizen since we've acquired him and has done tons of work in the community (having dinner with kids, etc.). Considering the fact one of the knocks against him coming into the league was his supposed immaturity and off-the-court demeanor, Ben's pretty much exceeded expectations on that count.
