Wow ugly, really ugly. I would feel alot beter about the season if the Kings had at least hung in there but thye got smoked... Ok sure it was preseason, sure Webber did not play, Tag did not play and DC played 7 min (0-3 shooting). But even so this was ugly. Not the feeling you want to see the team drag into the season. Of course this might motivate them to work harder and play harder.

OK tonights bright spots... Mo Evan.. the MO I see the Mo I like... It's not jsut his dunks, but his energy and movemnt with out the ball. That opp of His from Miller was picture perfect. His strenth give him an edge on some fo the other prospects. Daniels played a few serious min, but picked up garbage time as well. MOre good hustle but with Evans and Barnes ahead of him for a slot this might be the last time we see Daniels in a Kings jersey. Pdja definatly ahs his stroke back and Bobby is ready and able to lead the second squad... now if we can get a healthy crew the second squad may not be as bad as some folks feared. Bobby, Martin, Evans/Barnes, Songlia and Tag is not a bad second unit... really! I KNOW the starters can pull it together, but that does not mean that they don't have to... they do. The past 2 games havebeen relay bad for the starters and it is now up to them to pick it up pronto and head into Texas with an attitude and an arsenal.

Could this be right? NBA.com has Phoenix with 58 rebounds to a pathetic 26 from us. Nice to see we addressed our weaknesses coming into this season. Yikes.

I just realized that the finale was played in Arco Arena. It looked like the Kings took the night off. If they get blown away by the Mavs in the opener, that would be a cause for legitimate concern. But even then, it's still just 1 out of 82. It's a long season.

One question: Are the Kings still hungry?

Okay, everyone quit panicking! ;)

My impressions of the game? We stunk. But we stunk for a variety of reasons that don't really have me sending up disaster flares quite yet.

First, the Suns were hitting everything from everywhere. At one point, their FG% was 72%. That was, in and of itself, unbelievable.

Second, the Kings just looked like they want the pre-season to be over and done with. In the Skyline Lounge after the game, after the initial crowd left, there were pretty much just a few of us - Koz on the air with Coach T and Scott Marsh. The consensus was that the China trip REALLY took its toil on the team and disrupted their whole routine of getting into game shape. I have to agree. They looked just slightly out of focus.

I have to give major props to Peja and Darius. I don't know how much you saw on TV and I don't know, of course, what the broadcasters had to say, but Peja was pretty much being mugged the entire time he was on the court. For the most part, I think he must have been invisible to the officials because he certainly didn't get the calls.

Darius didn't play perfect ball (none of them did) BUT he did play with hustle, intensity and - after one particularly nasty non-call in the second half - he played with a lot of focus. It was refreshing to see on a night when there wasn't a lot to be celebrating.

IMHO Matt Barnes has earned the right to continue to play for the Kings, as has Evans. I was not impressed with Daniels, who just didn't seem to be part of the flow. (Although considering the outcome of the game, that might not have been so bad...) He just didn't look good.

All in all, although it was an abysmal game if you just look at the score, I'm not going to throw in the towel. The veterans didn't play well and I think it was just mental exhaustion.

Speaking of exhaustion, I just realized I'm tired.

I'll catch up the prediction game results after I get some sleep...

Tidbit: When we left, we walked out next to Geoff Petrie. Unless I'm mistaken, he wears English Leather cologne.

Good points. The Rockets don't seem to be playing well either. If they are just going through the motions, I'm glad it's now rather than later. But I wonder, as Lamar Odom put it, "are the Kings still hungry?"

too late.

imagine how bad our D would be with Vlade still playing. We do not have a PG in our team. Absolutely braindead.
Vlade was never a terrible defender... I seem to remember he used to play pretty good defense on shaq back in the day.

We NEED to get back on track soon. I really don't want our guys to let the China trip be an excuse. I hope they are not.
I didn't say the team was using the trip to China as an excuse. While it may be one, I'm quite sure the team won't be using it.
