[Game] Kings v. Bulls - Monday, Feb. 5 - 7 PT

So this game will feature the home debut of the new City Edition jerseys for the Kings (aka powder blue redux). I, for one, am not impressed with these jerseys which the Kings actually wore for the first time in Miami. The cute little white yoke looks like something you'd find on a parochial school uniform. As I said at the time, all they need to complete the ensemble is the saddle oxfords.

The Bulls on paper should be a lot better than what they've been this year. But it is what it is. Lots of teams have had injuries to key players all season long and the Bulls seem to be no exception. Here's what the injury report says as of Sunday afternoon:

Lauri, of course, meaning Lauri Markkanen, whom if memory serves (and it might not ) was the topic of interest for several around here before the draft.

On the other side of the coin, the only change to the Kings injury report is that Malachi is now listed as a game-time decision.

After this game, the Kings get another chance to focus honing their skills with three days off before they face Portland on Friday.

This might be a good game to rest ALL the vets. With the gutted Bulls dropping like Wynn stock prices this is a game the kids might be able to win on their own and play time is more important than a win. Normally I DO want a vet on the court to help teach HOW the game should be played but this might be a good tie to just let the kids be kids and then learn form the tape.

Lauri Markkanen's flight to Sacramento got canceled due to weather in Chicago. Rather than have him fly 4 hours and play on same day after being home for birth of his kid, he will re-join Bulls in Chicago. So no Markkanen vs. Kings.

This might be a good game to rest ALL the vets. With the gutted Bulls dropping like Wynn stock prices this is a game the kids might be able to win on their own and play time is more important than a win. Normally I DO want a vet on the court to help teach HOW the game should be played but this might be a good tie to just let the kids be kids and then learn form the tape.

If anything, I suspect we may see the vets play MORE than usual. I can't find the quote right now, but Joerger is talking about the kids hitting a wall and looking forward to the break. We certainly don't need any of them breaking down right before they get a chance to take a breath.

I'm more than a little concerned about the new City Edition court, considering the ongoing slippery surface problems they've had with the Statement Edition court. Don't get me wrong - I'm incredibly impressed with the different looks the Kings are floating out (none of which are cheap, BTW). This is what it looks like when your team owner(s) aren't broke and looking for ways to cut corners.
