[Game] Kings v. Blazers 11/09/13

I think this team is even worse than 4 years ago. At least the draft seems to be pretty good next year. Season is already over after 6 games.

I don't know behind the scenes, but to me it just seems lack of heart - or will to play the game. Lack of work ethic to improve, it seems like basketball is a job and not a passion to him, and I'm thinking of calling Grant about it

He'll just yell at you and tell you players go through slumps and that MT is a great guy with a great attitude.

I feel like a broken record, but this team needs Isaiah offense. Yes, offense. Shooting. Taking it to the rim. All of that. And a lot of it.

We don't need him to be the point guard we needed him to be last year. Evans is gone, he's not stealing anyones shots anymore. He is our second best scorer and it isn't close. The shots are his to take.

And that isn't ideal. It isn't good, of course we WANT a better second option, but it is reality.

Here's my one issue with that perspective. We aren't really going to win more games by focusing on DMC and then letting IT play hero ball when he's in. But we will continue with the selfish, dysfunctional offense we've ingrained in our team for years. I'd rather see us continue to lose by more while trying to develop a real offense and roles.

Lets not forget we dumped our second best player in the offseason.

This roster IS worse than its ever been. I think we all just thought new ownership, coaching staff, and another year of DeMarcus Cousins' development would be enough to improve the team.

Exactly what I've been trying to say. Want some brandy? ;)

The problem is Marcus Thornton, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson, Jason Thompson were given credit before the season for being good players, and all are now scrubs. No coach can deal with half your rotation turning to duds

Exactly.

Nah, Salmons was always a scrub

With the exception of Salmons, I don't think those guys are scrubs. They are just playing like scrubs right now. I keep hoping its leftover crap from the old era and that people will settle in to the players they've shown they can be in the past.

On the bright side, I am very thankful we are going to have another lottery season just based on the fact that I'm banking on the potential of this draft and getting a sidekick for 15.

We may have dumped our second best player, but he's not doing that well with his new team.

I agree the roster is worse, but I think not starting Thornton and Salmons could make a big difference. It's disheartening to watch them suck the life out of the team at the beginning of the game.

time to just start worrying about our future. develop the young guys. Start Ben and play him 35mpg and even give Ray Mac some minutes. no more Salmons minutes EVER

I don't know how you know that. I don't know that. We've never seen Isaiah Thomas play when the team is structured around him being the secondary scoring option. I happen to think that there are enough shots to go around in one starting session of minutes for both players, especially when you consider the fact that they play completely different positions.

Most middling teams have an IT in the starting lineup. Monta Ellis, Rudy Gay, Brandon Jennings, etc. Again, you don't win a championship featuring those guys, but they bring you to a certain spot in the standings, then you trade them or move them to their intended role once you are contending. You have to walk before you can run, or however that saying goes.

I can't stress it enough how not 'ideal' this whole team is. The pieces don't fit, but we owe it to this city, to DeMarcus Cousins, to the new ownership to TRY and win as many games as we can. Or at least I thought that was the plan. I think starting Isaiah Thomas gives us a better chance to win games, period. It has its pro's and con's, but I think the pro's outweigh the con's. That's my take in a nutshell.

But we know how each other feels about this whole situation at this point.
