Kings trying to move up for McLemore?

Or maybe they think Reke can go back to the PG spot and McLemore, being a great shooter, could be a nice fit.

I like to see we are aggressive and trying to make things happen. It's a new feeling, considering the last lazy years.

uhhh...not sure how I feel about that. also, which pick are they targetting? damn. gonna have to follow the draft live after all.

I'd much prefer Oladipo too. And if this means letting Tyreke go, it's really not worth it. How about trading up for either of them (preferably Oladipo) and then keeping 'Reke and putting him at the one. Oladipo doesn't need the ball to be effective and he's an elite defender, great character and leadership too. Bring IT off the bench and trade Thornton/Jimmer. Of course, the latter two could easily be used to move up in the first place.

Finally a rumor that makes sense. I hope we're at least trying to trade up because that means we have a target in mind. I hate how Geoff would simply sit back and wait every year and let other teams dictate which players were going to be available. I have McLemore at #3 on my board so I'd be thrilled with the pick. Like I said before though, I don't trust any rumors being circulated about our team right now because it's very likely that some deliberate misinformation is involved.

I'd prefer Oladipo as well, but it's not like McLemore needs the ball to be effective. His whole game is moving off the ball and spotting up or cutting to the basket.

I guess it could be the 4th pick. If Charlotte really wants Zeller, I'm pretty sure he will be available at 7. And If the Magic pick Oladipo, the Wizard Porter, McLemore would be available at 4. Well, Noel could be available as well.

The reason I made the 'Reke comment is due to the tweet by CD earlier. If they're drafting a SG, I'd love to believe it's to move Tyreke back to PG, but I don't think they will. Can always hope. Either of those guys would be a good fit next to him in theory, but I'd prefer Oladipo for his defense and leadership. McLemore might be a superior talent, though Oladipo is guaranteed to max out on his, and I think the extra space in the NBA will benefit him.

More likely Evans at SF.

when has an s&t ever netted an asset as valuable as a lottery pick? would have to be something else, I guess. some really toxic asset or somesuch.

Both DX and ND.net have Oladipo and Porter as #2 and #3 after multiple rounds of shuffling. I think these two are locked in.

if Noel is available and we draft McLemore instead, I'm going to shoot someone.

Glad to see we are actually in some rumors for trading up, not down (or not trading at all). We have a target, and we are going after that, good mindset. By the way, going after Ben McLemore doesn't necessarily mean the end of Tryeke at Sacramento. The front office might see Tyreke best as a PG (could be understandable if they looked at his stats as a rookie), so they nw want McLemore as Reke's partner in the back.

Actually, going forward this lineup would be really nice:

PG: Evans/IT/Douglas
SG: McLemore/Thornton
SF: Free agency?/Salmons (for the time being)/Outlaw
PF: Patterson/Thompson/Hayes
C: Cousins/Draft? (if not, resign Aldrich)

We have a potential all star duo of Evans and Demarcus, McLemore could become a very good starter, and Patterson can help spread the floor with his shooting. A nice bench that has two guards who can provide great scoring in IT and MT, along with Thompson who can provide scrappiness, effort, good rebounding etc. We have soon-to-be expired contracts with Hayes, Outlaw, and Salmons to free up some salary cap and make some moves in future offseasons.

And now Amick:

Kings have had one conversation about moving up, with Phoenix at No. 5. As Yahoo! reported, they are indeed targeting Ben McLemore.

Seems this is legit. Ken Berger also tweeted the same thing, though I think they're going on the original Woj tweet. But no reason to doubt it, Woj gets everything spot on.

If reports are correct, we're aiming to move up to number five so i don't think Noel will be available anyways.

Len, Oladipo, Porter/Bennett, Zeller. It's not out of the question that both Noel and McLemore are still on the board at 5.

Unlikely, but possible. And though I do like McLemore, I'd also be furious at passing on the perfect partner for Cuz in favour of another guard. If he's gone, fine, take Ben. But not over Noel!!

Woj is pretty much spot-on with everything. One of the few NBA sources I follow closely for rumors.

Anyway this is very interesting. Means 1 of 2 things in my book.

1. We're moving Reke to PG or SF. With Thornton on the bench, you don't go target a pure SG if you believed that Reke was our future SG.

2. We're moving on totally from Reke. Team gains cap flexibility and starts over with a Boogie-McLemore core.

I think it's a win-win situation. If Noel slides to #5 you take him. If he's not on the board, you take McLemore. Either way it's better than waiting and settling for Bennett or Burke. Well, I think so anyway. :)

As Phoenix looks to move down and Sacramento up in the lottery, teams getting clear message from the Wizards: They're keeping their pick.

Rumours that McLemore bombed his Suns workout must be true.

The Phoenix-Sacramento situation is dependant on how draft unfolds, but unclear who the Suns are after and what scenarios lead to pick swap.

depending on what Cleveland does with their pick, it's not inconceivable that one of Noel or Porter is available. putting yourself in the position to draft one of those two is easily worth the "price" of trading Thornton for Dudley (long contract, but cheap and an infinitely better fit than Thornton).
