Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

I like the Beverly fit. We don't need a creator at the 1, just someone who can get the ball in to cuz and hit open shots. Combine that with an affordable price tag and him being the best defensive pg in the league and we're talking. He has interest from several teams, however so we'd have to overpay probably. Also im not sure you can start him over collison. How much of his elite defensiveness is given up if he's guarding sg? Theres a dearth of full sized sg in the league right now so you could potentially run collison and him together, but youd still need pg depth if you did that.
I like his toughness, competitiveness, and defense. The guy takes the game personally, and he has no character issues.

For real

im not understanding how the Cavs can give Love & Thompson a combined 190m, still be able to pay Kyrie, still be able to give LeBron a new contract, and then still fill out the rest of the roster
You can exceed the cap to re-sign your own guys. You can't do so for new free agents like what we're doing

I'm not sure about the relationships between the parties but there was also this:

Maybe not "Kings on the court" related?
Doubt it. His tweets were to Kings specific questions.

My guess, reading between the lines is we may pass on Rondo and his 10M demand, and then due to the need to make a splash might resort to doing something stupid in the trade market, and he's heard word of it.

Dave, if you're reading this, don't leave us hanging, man.

If we whiff on Rondo, we will probably come away empty-handed. All those scrubs can get just as good a nickel/dime deal on a better team (any team but ours). There's this part in The Godfather where Sonny says to Vito "won't they take that as a sign of weakness". And Vito says "it IS a sign of weakness".

Hell, we're weak - we don't have a lot of plays here. I say give Rondo his effing money. It improves the team $10M worth. I like the idea of a 3/30 with protection for the team on the third year.

Same.. If some of those players that are worse than Rondo are getting 15m a year then it's a deal to get him at 10m. Sign him asap... Don't let him get away.

Quite possible. However there were references along the lines (paraphrasing) 'another day and same ol' bleep.' That is the Kings flagship station so who knows who pulls what strings?

Rondo doesn't improve the team. Can't stress that enough. He's been atrocious for 2 years now with all of his skills declining. We're paying for a name, not a player, which is the worst mistake a young FO can do.

Go get someone like Pat Beverly with the money, who we know will greatly improve this team and not have major character/effort concerns. Young guy who hasn't been allowed to tap into his offensive potential due to playing with Harden. But there isn't a better defensive PG in the NBA than him and he plays with big time fire.

Rondo camp is just taking advantage of us needing to make a splash.

So it seems Dave heard something.

@5kingsfan @carmichaeldave Splashes may be necessary, but the one thing Kings can ill-afford is yet more drama.

It seems more than just something pertaining to Rondo. I don't think not signing Rondo brings more drama. Has to be something we're doing. Trade?

More attention seeking from Dave.

Either say something tangible or don't say anything at all.

Oh my!!

I looked at dave's twitters and looked like to me he was generaly bummed that only big FA splash might only be Rondo
and if not then we would be left out in cold and end up with scraps

He didn't seem very thrilled with getting Rondo either and worried about more drama

Then maybe he heard about the 10mil demand and got bummed again then signed off

Personally I think if we were going to go after Rondo you just keep negociating
vlade Offers 8 mil, Rondo come back with 9 Mil, Vlade come back with 8.5 Mil and Team option yr 2 for 10mil

you just don't can the visit then say kings are exploring other PG options? Really vlade? Just keep working towards a deal
keep counter offers going keep telling him Kings Really Want him!!!

I just want to say if that article is true and Rondo is with the program in Sacramento AND the Kings can stay mostly healthy. The Kings make the Playoffs next season.
We all see what we want to see. What I saw was a player that needs to be handled with kid gloves. A player that doesn't like to be told what to do. How well do you think that will go over with Karl. Yeah, he talented, but he comes with a ton of baggage. Yeah, it could be great, but it could also be one of the most drama packed seasons in the history of the Kings. Personally I think we've had enough drama around here.

We aren't going to sign Rondo for $10million just to make a splash signing.. It's not the end of the world if he doesn't sign with us.

Either this CD tweet means "Where there is smoke there is fire" or "Where there is smoke there is NO fire"

We signed Landry just to make a "splash"

I'm sure Dave just had that momentary tinge of excitement about free agency starting and then remembered he was a Kings fan, and the crushing weight of emptiness flooded down on him.

Who else are we going to sign if we don't sign Rondo? No one else is going to come here unless we overpay. At least we would only be overpaying for one year. It's a gamble I'm willing to take.

Sometimes the best move is no move at all. Collison is better than Rondo at everything but passing. Even then, Rondo requires a ton of ball and is extremely turnover prone. So that's not really an addition either.

Spend money to improve the team, not take a flier on someone trying to rebuild their career after steeply declining production wise and has significant character issues with a long history with clashing with coaches/players on his team.

Reading between the lines it does seem to go along the lines of "Where there is smoke there is no fire" in my opinion. That's what the picture seems to indicate as well as saying, "Except the opposite" which I think he meant to say "Expect the opposite" probably. He also keeps alluding to things that aren't the truth. Bottom line is that it seems that things we are hearing are not the truth. Perhaps Rondo isn't interested in being here after all.

I don't know what "B.O.B." means, I'm not savvy with internet acronyms, perhaps "Bomb on Board", that would seem to fit Rondo. If someone knows what that stands for please educate me.

B.O.B was simply just the username of the user Dave was responding to.

I'm thinking of it more as Rondo vs. McCallum and Miller. We absolutely have to upgrade from McCallum. Rondo has faults but he brings a playmaking ability that no one on this team brings.

What's so bad about Rondo requiring the ball a lot? He's not controlling the ball to be a chucker. He's controlling it to set guys up for easy baskets. The guy hasn't averaged 11 assists multiple times for nothing. If you can take the ball out of Cousins' and Gay's hands and put it in the hands of a guy who can set them up for easier shots than they could get on their own, then you take a chance on that. Cousins and Gay are pretty good at 1 on 1 iso plays but getting them easy dunks and wide open shots is even better.

Signing Rondo gives us a chance to improve the team. Say we make the playoffs and he bounces next year, well Sacramento doesn't seem like such a wasteland anymore. Free agents may want to come here because they know we are a playoff team. Like the old Sac teams, we had guys wanting to come here after we started to be successful.

We aren't going to ride into the playoffs on the coattails of Rodney Stuckey and the like.

Really Jason Jones? Quite an observation and relevant fact that he was on our summer league team in 09.
Indeed, this must mean that he has been desperate for a reunion since 2009! Now he finally comes home!

All that shows is how poor our talent evaluation was during that summer league if he couldn't make our stacked roster of 2009.

Rajon Rondo is as good as signed. He will be formally introduced soon, the only reason he hasn't made the trip for a face to face visit with Vlade is because he's currently traveling.
