at least they didn't sit on busting the over for a few games. the end came quick.Somewhere out there Kb02 is watching the game thinking they should have traded Fox for Lu Dorts. All kidding aside, he would look pretty good with this team

When this dude was hired I didn’t for a second think I’d love and appreciate this guy like I do.
Is it just me or is Fox still getting better?

This truly makes my purple and black heart cry tears of joy and happiness.

Jesus 'N hookers!
Exactly why the players did what they did. The guy absolutely loved it and enjoyed his well deserved recognition. In the grand scheme of things, it’s very minor, but the recognition he got from the team is worth many times more than the chain around his neck.

Vote of confidence; that's a very good way to put it.The bench has responded to the trade deadline vote of confidence
Agree. The maturity of this approach is that he seems to recognize this is the top skill needed for playoff basketball. It's like he's using the regular season to prepare his game for the playoffs. We see you Mr. Fox.I think Fox is getting better at recognizing When he needs to get us a bucket for sure. And the fact he can do it is what makes him elite.

I'm a big fan of Trey Liles. And TD is right behind. Invaluable players off your bench.
Everyone assumed it was Donte DiVincenzo that Monte was after in the Marvin trade but it was Trey Lyles all alonghe might be a top 15 most valuable bench player in the league this year. His advanced stats and the eye test match. We really need to find a way to bring him back next year.

He's at 77 games in Kings Uni in his career and everything just points to him figuring something out in that span after a rough couple seasons. He's just a rock solid role player. Weird to say, but I think he's made himself apart of the core and someone the Kings need to bring back. It'd be a big hole to fill if he walks.
TD is another guy trending in that direction too, although not as much of a quality sample that Lyles has given us. But we've spent 2 years into TD's development, we're starting to see some real returns and we just let him walk? That'd suck too.
Also makes you question what the heck do we do with Davion? Is this a team that can support all 5 of Fox/Huerter/Monk/Davion/TD? Can Monk move to PG so we can move TD up and bring in another wing? If we shopped Davion, what would his actual market be? Could you get a real impact piece for like Davion+FRP+Holmes (for salary)?
Lots of interesting questions to answer with how this season is shaking out. But maybe the most surprising is Lyles playing himself into being a long-term core piece and TD right on his heels to be in that conversation. And unfortunately, Davion continuing to play himself out of the core.
Monks contract is another question. We only have him for next year, will he sign an extension? Will he play his way into a Huerter type contract? If so, can we afford that? Will we need to move KVon to make that happen? Obviously we have some time, but we are reaching the point where we are going to be in a position to lose players we actually want which has not happened much in Kings history.

I want Davis on next season's roster
The good news is we'll have early bird rights on Trey, TD and Monk to pay them up to 175% of their salary as an over the cap team. So for Monk, that's somewhere in the 16mil/season range, which seems about right with where the cap is supposed to be in a few years.
That Monk off-season is also the year that Domas gets his max. And then you have to start thinking about Fox's extension too, who will only have 1 more year after the 24-25 season.
1 more year+PO for Holmes is just so absolutely killer. Hate that a contract that was such a bargain when it was signed went all the way downhill so fast.
Right now he's invaluable because he's been the only other guy willing to create plays for himself but the playoffs tell that story as well as cost. This is the same process that keeps putting bench anchor contracts on the cap like Holmes since if they don't play, they tank. Davis wasn't even in the lineup for most of the year and we'll see what happens once the postseason begins. Contenders have non-expendable guys that deep on the bench but if you aren't quite there, they make it much harder to get there.
