[Game] Kings @ Spurs

So are you saying he is being punished?

Well he fell out of the rotation before the column. But given what has happened with the column, and yet more comments to the Bee yesterday, I wouldn't be suprised if we don't see much, if any of him the rest of the year. But his play dictated the switch in the rotations, and that happened well before Omri went public with any of this.

I almost forgot Taylor was still on the team until I saw his little sound bite at the half. He's odd man out in backcourt behind Reke, Thornton, Beno and even Pooh.

He's the same guy with the same competition that started games last year and started games this year. So now the starter is ****. I don't think any of them are very good except I like the way Greene waves his towel and dances. I'm done.

We're seemingly not doing enough things well to win this, and really are still where we are basically jsut by not runing it over and by controling the offensive glass. But while I typically don't have anything against the Spurs, listening to their announcers and suddenly inspired in me a great desire to stuff their smugness down their microphones.

Does anyone truly belive Casspi is the worst of the lot? Then look at Dally and Cuz. 15 rbds, 7 for 12 and 15 pts.

Nope.

Cisco, for all his inconsistency, is the most consistent. But I really think Omri deserves minutes just as much as Greene, who gives slightly above average defense, and not much else. At least Casspi can rebound and hit his shots a little bit better.

That's twice now cousins got his man in the air, and then faded away from the contact. He's got to learn to lean in a draw the contact. Sure he will though.

So are you saying he is being punished? It seems like it. Dally has his agent ***** and becomes a starter. So the big deal is that he should have had his agent give the inteview to the Israeli reporter?

Punished for what-for telling the truth?
For me he is better than Donte.

Donte plays the role. Omri does not. Its really that simple.

Omri got plenty of chances this year. He failed. There's not much else to be said.

Are we talking about this Donte that was totaly useless 1month ago and where all the BM´s complained?

I think Omri got worse by playing the role. He became more passive, tried to involve teammates and his offense suffered. He still rebounded and hustled, but it didn't always work.

Not that it matters, because it's all opinion, but I've seen many more fans asking for Donte to play when not in the rotation, than fans asking for Omri to play when not in the rotation. Also hard to argue that Omri didn't have a longer stretch, and more of a chance to solidify the starting sf spot than the other two.

Man, these Spurs sure play a beautiful brand of basketball. Everything is easy because of execution and excellent ball movement. They rotate well on defense and every understands their role. It's perfect. It's pissing me off that they are still shooting 3's though.

I am not argueing on any of the points-the only thing that bothers me is that you let a guy play a certain role in your organisation for the whole season and now at once you dump him.
Not very logical.

But who knows maybe something else occured between PW and Casspi that led him to take him out of his rotation.
You want Donte, now you have him.

You are right, they play as a team and swing the ball.
Something our guys could learn.

Old Spurs are moving quicker than the Kings right now.

I cant argue with the fact that Donte is much more willing to be a roleplayer.

I think I just dont like him because at 6' 11, his rebounding is so bad he makes Landry look like Rodman.

I don't know who the bowel movements are, but Donte was only useless to those who cannot see. He always had a use and a side of he ball where he could be an impact player. But there is no doubt he failed too. But he didn't fail to play the role. He failed to execute the role becasue he cannot shoot. There is a difference.

It's not about dumping him, and really we shouldn't even be talking about Omri. His play was regressing and had been for close to a month, coach decided to give Donte a shot, and the team went on to win 7 of 10 since then. It's about the team, and how well the team is playing.

It's only a damn 10 game stretch. Who cares if Omri is unhappy? This team is finally starting to turn the corner, and the guys collectively are playing better, that's what matters. Not how Omri feels about being wronged during a 10 game stretch. And to be honest, for a while there while Omri wasn't playing well, Taylor was absolutely balling, and showing a lot of talent, and much more of an all around game than Omri. i would also argue Taylor deserves more of a shot to prove himself right now than Omri does, but you don't hear a peep out of Taylor.

I agree, Donte is a good role player.
A player that never expects too much and is happy when he gets some minutes and sees his name on his NBA jersey.
Is this the player we would like to build something around for the future?
I personally say no.
We need players with strong characters that want to play and prove themselves.
If a player is unhappy about not playing and expresses it in a certain "normal tone" without insulting his teammates or the organisation it simply means that he is hungry for minutes and success nothing more.
I think Casspi now has to shut up and work harder but expressing his unhappiness is nothing unusual and not always negative.

If and when Cousins starts drawing lots of fouls or at least gets a few more whistles his way, it's going to be huge. Aside from getting in better shape and stopping the sloppiness, that's the main thing I want him to work on. Whenever he did draw fouls this season, the Kings had a very good chance of winning the game.

No, at a certain point you don't need those guys. In fact they are disruptive. You need your stars to be those guys. But once you have those in place, and we do, then what you need are Derek Fishers, Robert Horrys, Udonis Haslems, PJ Browns, Bruce Bowens and a host of other people who understand their role, execute it, and stay out of the way of the stars.

Before Cousins began to come into his own, and before we picked up Thornton, we were holding open auditions for main weapons #2 and #3. Now I felt that Westphal missed that early, made it difficult for our SFs to be those guys. But regardless, they failed to show that stuff. Nobody stepped forward. And then Cousins came on, and Thronton arrived, and that opportunity is now closed. We no longer need them to step forward. That portion of the rebuild has been completed. We found our guns. Now we are onto the "surround them with strong roleplayers" stage. Dalembert is a strong roleplayer. Beno and JT may be strong enough roleplayers. Cisco and Donte are at least willing roleplayers. But Omri is now an odd man out. He wasn't able to step forward in the role he coveted and where it was hoped he might fill in -- as weapon #2 or #3, and by neither game nor mentality is he particularly well suited to the roles we need now, as a defend/move the ball/spot shoot roleplayer.
