VF,,you were so close but not correct. I don't like BIbby as a p.g. because he allows too much penetration, is nearly a shoot first p.g. and picks his finger nails during every free moment. Can you honestly say that Bibby is an average defender?

Can I honestly say Bibby is an average defender? Well, yes...

but not with a straight face.

;)

Seriously? Mike Bibby's albatross is Bruce Bowen. I don't even want to remember all the times Bowen has simply disappeared right in front of Bibby's face, only to drop another corner three. (I say disappeared because it's the only excuse I've been able to come up with...)

Martin also had no rebounds, steals, or assists (and 3 TOs, 2 from offensive fouls). Bibby still contributed in other ways, although if he passed more and shot less this game we mighta been able to actually steal it.

Martin had 4 rebounds and 3 steals this game.

Cut Bibby or add shotblocker?

I choose getting Bibby the help he needs.

Yes VF: as protective of my boy Shareef and quite often I will admit that I wear rose-colored glasses. Though I honestly do not know why he was benched for nearly the entire second half. Reef came out aggressive and hit all but one shot (I think) while rebounding fairly well. I know Muss is in love with Corliss, but I think Reef and/or Kt should have replaced him by the 9:00 mark of the 4th. They must be wondering what they have to do. They got benched for playing poorly in Dallas (they deserved the bench, and today got benched for playing well. The entire team fell apart in the 3rd quarter yet they were the only two singled out. They are probably developing a relationship of frustration (odd for two who do not seem to enjoy one anothers company. IMO Reef, KT and Miller should take nearly all of the minutes at the 4 and 5. Play them eache 32 minutes and avoid any contraversy. Maybe that is too simple a plan for Muss,

P.S. DId anyone else notice Muss seemingly trying out for Dancing with Stars. I mean he was simply going crazy on the sideline. Though it goes without saying, but I prefer someone like Popavich (spelled wrong) who will verbally blast any player for playing stupid basketball. Pop did just that when Duncan made the wrong read on an inbounds play. He simply raged at Duncan and Tim seemed a little shocked.

And there's another conceptual difference between us. Pop could have made the same point to Duncan without raging at him. To me, when a grown man allows himself to lose control like that, he's showing a basic character flaw. Grown-ups don't lose their tempers like that. They express themselves clearly - which Popovich could have done.

As far as SAR being benched, I made a comment in the PBP about a bone-headed play I thought SAR made. If I recall, and I could well be mistaken, I think Reef was taken out soon afterwards.

EDIT: http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16630&page=3 Start with post #25 or so...

Huh.

I have to admit that I come in on the other side of that point of view, but that could also be a function of eleven years in the military... To quote Red Foreman, "What kind of man can't handle fifteen minutes of yelling?"

In my experience, some people just can't be gotten through to "reasonably." Hell, I've worked with some people whose general philosphy on the subject equated to, "If you're not yelling, then how do I know when to listen to you?"

While I hear what you're saying, Slim, can you honestly say that you think Tim Duncan is the type of player who can't be gotten through to reasonably?

Seeing Pop go off on hm like that just seemed wrong...on so many levels. Maybe it's Duncan's cute little cocker spaniel face or something. He always looks so naive and innocent.

;)

Gargamel would probably beg to differ... Then again, he seems to hate Tim Duncan only slightly less than he hates LeBron James.

I think Muss threw the Mavs game to give us a better shot here. He correctly assessed the Mavs were unbeatable at the moment and kept powder dry for the Ginobili-less Spurs. It almost worked too, we were a lucky bounce or two away from winning it. Not bad considering the circumstances.
