several on twitter saying we're signing orlando johnson to a 10 day contract.

Source: Sacramento Kings will sign Orlando Johnson tomorrow. Pretty sure it's a 10-day contract. #NBAKings

arent there other shooting guards worth signing over a seldom used player waived by the pacers?

Also known as the guy the Maloofs sold to Indiana for cash considerations in the 2012 draft.

This front office really is intent on undoing everything the Maloofs did.

As a UCSB Alum (same class as Orlando), I am so excited! Was happy to see him play the way he did in Indiana, and I hope he earns some PT here in Sac.

I was bummed to see we drafted him a couple years back only to have a prearranged trade with Indiana

Hahaha! We are signing a kid whose draft rights we sold to Indiana a couple of drafts ago and probably funded George's bender for the night!

Best SG on our roster via landslide, I really liked his game and think he's a legit good fit bit undersized but he's as strong as a oxe has game. If he improves his shooting a bit more could be something like a Courtney Lee type player. Interesting to see if we give him a shot I hope we do I like his demanour and he gives good effort.

Apprentely I just read on draft express he has a 7'0 wingspan

Oh, and just on the whole "character guy" front:

Jonathan Feigen: Soon to have a roster spot, heard Kings worked out former Rockets 1st-round pick Royce White. Could sign him after Fredette clears waivers. Twitter @Jonathan_Feigen - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.ibZL9ohg.dpuf

No idea if that was before or after the Orlando Johnson signing but...oh my. People are upset about our Cousins crazy? Wait until you get a load of them Royce apples. Well...whenever he arrives I guess since I think he needs to travel by stagecoach or some such.

It's actually a brilliant ploy by our FO. Take media attention of our crazy dude by signing an even more crazy dude.

He's extremely long and a solid defender. Nothing else has really translated to the NBA though. At the very least, he adds length to a length-deprived back-court

He was a pretty good player in college. He played a lot SF at UCSB and I always felt he was better suited to play SG. However, as pointed out, he has a huge wingspan, so he plays a lot taller than his 6'5" height. He was a good shooter at Santa Barbara and shot very well from behind the arc. He's a pretty good athlete that can play above the rim. The question was whether he could defend in the NBA. His long arms certainly help in that regard.

I'd actually say his 3 pt shot has improved since college. He looked pretty good in the minutes he got in Indy. After trading away basically every backup to Ben, I'd love to see OJ get a shot at some decent minutes

Oh, and I do love the fact he's spent 2 years in a dominant defensive system in Indy.

Indiana and the Thunder are probably the two premier systems for developing young talent. In the end, though, it's all about work ethic, natural ability and what's between the ears for these kids.

He's shooting 19% on 3's (1 attempt/game) this year. Not sure that's a sign of improvement.

I was basing that off of last season, which he was averaging 38%. Still not great, but it was an improvement since college.

As far as his 19% this year, I have no come back for that.

I didn't mean it as a dig. I just checked it out after reading through here and winced a bit.

Good interview, I thought.

Random notes: Quincy Acy was selected right after Orlando Johnson in the 2012 draft. Kinda cool!...?

Great interview. Dunno if it's blowing smoke or not, but sounds like he had several offers from teams and wanted to come here. Certainly, he doesn't sound like someone who is going to waste his opportunity.

Def like what he said about helping apply the defensive principles he learned in Indy here.

OJ? Let's use Johnson at SG as a backup to Ben. We can't lose and maybe we can gain. Maybe we decide to have Ben be a backup to Orlando the Guacho!
