Kings sign Mikki Moore!!!

this makes me sick...
listening to all these bandwagon fans on here whining about how they want their money back for their season tickects...give me a break
Have patience....If you dont have the patience go jump on the Warriors bandwagon
Personally, Im going to continue to support the Kings, and Petrie...

I think this might just be a way of making the next two years while we're bad more bearable. Bringing in someone who plays with passion is going to go a long way toward making games watchable. And he's not going to make us that much better. I wouldn't be surprsied if he had team option for the third season so we could still make that 2009 splash.

Yes. I'm talking myself into this one.
The press keep changing their story, some are saying 3rd year is team option, while others have switched to saying 3 years, with 2.5 guaranteed. But it's probably something like one of those.

Hey, Mikki Moore might be the hard working, good work ethics, role model veteran we need. Our kids might be able to pick up a few things from playing with him.

I've never heard of 2.5 years being guaranteed, it looks as if the shrewd Petrie is getting pushed around by these agents. Moore is a journeyman forward who barely deserves the veterans exception let alone the MLE. And with all that money we can't even get a team option for the third year...you know, the year Petrie wants to clear cap space!

I don't believe Petrie has anything else going on, he has proven as much lately. My expectations have hit rock bottom, I personally think we will go into camp with this exact roster. If anything Artest or Bibby will be moved for "flexible pieces" ala Chris Webber. Either the Maloofs are firmly in control and trying to move this team or Petrie has lost it completely.

If they offered my money back right now, I would take them up on it. In a heartbeat. I think they fraudulently represented that they would improve the team, and it is just deteriorating before our eyes. I may even try to figure out a way to have my tix "revoked" if something positive does not break soon.
No need for anything special. You are AOK.

New rule this year...you can get a full refund at any time up until you take possession of the tickets.

So you can retrieve that hard earned money on Monday and apply it to better pursuits.

and its november right now...right?
The season is starting tomorrow? Right?

Or...maybe he signed this guy for a REASON. Meaning one of our other bigs are about to get taped up and shipped out.

You guys are naming all the bigs on our team with the thought that the offseason is over and we arent trading ANYBODY.

Petrie probably has something in the works already. Maybe a couple big men are gonna get shipped out in which this signing would actually look good.

Patience.
It CAN'T look good for all the reaosn I listed if that 3rd year is there.

It can however look less moronic if there is at least a place for him that does not directly steal minutes from Hawes and Williams.

I agree with you, but the problem is, unless he's the new waterboy how does he not steal minutes from Hawes and Williams? Who elses minutes are there to steal?

Let's take a look at some stats, Mikki Moore averaged 26.4 minutes per game which are pretty significant...let's see how he did.

9.8 Points, 5.1 Rebounds, and 0.8 Blocks

I could swear I've seen stats like these before.

Shareef: 25.2 minutes, 9.9 Points, 5.0 Rebounds, 0.5 Blocks

Coincidence...you tell me...

Yeah I know. Was looking at that earlier this offseason. Does put in perspective Moore's "breakout" year. He is/was such a scrub that his breakout year actually ends up looking a whole lot like a guy liek Reef's worst year.

Petrie signing this guy gives me a sick feeling as if a nasty-looking flying saucer just landed on the White House lawn and the door has not opened.

This decision appears to defy reality, and just does not look right.

Oh well, it's not his money.

Ya I kinda like this move Moore is an athletic 7 foot big and he can back up at the 4 and 5 spot. With this signing though we have to be moving Miller,Thomas,Rahim. At least 1 of the three and hopefully two. Because with Hawes,Moore, and Justin there now and we can't possibly go into camp with six big men for what four spots basically. I think Rahim will be moved just because I think he will be the easiest to move out of Miller,Thomas and Rahim. We probably go into camp with I am hoping if they can move both Thomas and Rahim with Miller and Moore starting at the 4 and 5 spot and Hawes and Williams backing up or Hawes at the 5 and Miller at the 4 with Moore and Williams backing up.

I was responding to the idea that if there were more trades. If, for instance, we magically traded ALL of the Brad/Reef/KT trio, then Moore would actually be necessary (or somebody would) to be that third big. If we trade two of them, then he's a 4th big who steals minutes from the kids but may not ocmpletely bench them. If we trade one or fewer then we are back to a 5 or 6 man frontcourt and Justin gets to watch the game from the bench while Spenser gets to improve with his 15 minutes a game while Reggie tries to dazzle us with a "thrilling" playoff run full of mediocre old vets.

Here's a thing: by signing Moore, yet another big, it sure does make it hard to see any other young addition ala a Yi or whatnot. So many bodies.

The only thing I can think of is that they are considering buying out Thomas' contract to get his cancerous attitude out of the lockerroom. Then maybe including Shareef in the potential Bibby or Artest deals.

Another problem though is that Moore is not a starter in this league and neither is Williams yet. If Williams is to develop he needs significant minutes off the bench but if Moore is the first big man off the bench then Williams minutes get cut severly. As Brick pointed out above, Moore's best year was about the same as Shareef's worst. Having Moore start would not be good for us.

My best guess is that either Thomas is bought out or Shareef is traded, whichever one is still here will start and Moore will be the backup. Hawes will back up Miller. Williams will get whatever minutes are left at each position which will be slim to none.

Hey, it sounds like you love the Kings. Feel free to keep posting. A Kingsfan at Kingsfan.com should keep right on posting.

If I have till I take posession to get my money back, then I will sleep this off and see what happens in the next week or so. :)

I know I am emotional right now. This signing was like a kick in the head. If we shed Miller and/or KT's contracts I'll relax a bit. Right now I just feel really bad.

I really don't have a problem with Moore...If he can channel what he did against us into a nightly thing he instantly becomes one of our top frontcourt players.

And he is also defaultly our best power forward now.

And he's fun to watch.
No he isn't. The sad thing is KT and Reef are still the better players. Even if we got rid of one of them, Mikki Moore's mid-level is still right there eating up capspace.

Yeah, I forgot about Yi, I actually thought that the Bucks might have been that third team involved with the Bibby trade but now that's looking less and less likely.

Although if you think about it we say that we probably won't get another big man because we're full there. But we also tend to say a lot that we're loaded at swingman. And can't forget Bibby, Price, and Shakur/Jeter at the point. If we're loaded at every position then what are we going to trade Bibby and/or Artest and/or Shareef for?

Something might still be in the works, I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hoping.

Season ticket buyers are bandwagon fans huh? SYSPH (shut your stinkin' pie hole).Anyways, I think the Maloofs want an entertaining product on the floor. This guy is a solid player if overpaid. Seems GP is seriously wanting to deal KT or Miller and do not forget, it may be his back up plan to pay out KT (please please please) if none of his other plans play out. This thread reminds me of the Salmons pickup thread. You guys were all wrong then....

Okay, folks. No need to let this dissolve into the old, never productive and always pointless argument about who is a real fan and who isn't.

If you take a look at Mikki's game log, in November and December he was receiving low to limited inconsistent minutes. It was not until January that he started getting the CONSISTENT 20-30 minutes a game in which he then thrived.

Maybe Petrie was intrigued to ga-ga by Mikki Moore's playoff performance against the Cavs in which he averaged 15 pts and 5 boards. As backup center to Krstic until he went down in December with knee injury Moore filled in nicely right into the playoffs. I'm neutral on the deal at this point expecting other moves by the Kings FO. For sure Moore is very mobile and brings some decent rebounding and defensive intensity. If other move fail to materialize bringing in Moore could be ridiculous considering MLE and his age.

All three of them are capable of playing the 4 and 5. Hawes is probably not strong enough, but hes working.

Hall of Famer
Well I've thought about this other than my original "I like him because he's cool and energetic" post.

And Im on board with a lot of everyone else...This deal will look pretty decent and ONLY if two, or preferably all three of the incumbents gets shipped out. My thoughts have me thinking Brad and SAR will be the ones traded, while no one will even touch Kenny Thomas...Leaving us with a frontcourt looking something like this.

PF: Moore / Williams / K9
C: Hawes / Williams / Moore

...

If it ends up looking like that, this deal comes out as a positive for me.

HOWEVER, If we end up looking something like this...

PF: Moore / SAR / Williams / K9
C: Miller / Hawes / Moore / Williams

I'll be pissed (to say the least) and wonder what happened to the Geoff Petrie that engineered our teams from our little 'golden era.'

This deal needs to be judged when and if the moves are eventually made.

LOL....I havent earned the right to express my feelings.
Brick...youre better than that
I know Im not the only diehard fan whos sick of the whining

No, you haven't earned the right to come on THIS board and call other fans who have invested vast amounts of times in the team and/or board bandwagon fans. Not even close. Don't go there.

Sweet- I like the signing...NOW, I personally think the most logical trade out there for the Kings is a SAR for Duhon/Khryapa type of deal. Duhon could man the back-up PG behind Bibby...and I think Petrie is in the mode now where he says, screw the blockbuster trades at this point, I'm only getting pathetic offers. Let Bibby/Ron play better over the course of the season and then I'll re-evaluate trade options at the deadline. It's not like Mikki Moore contract is going to screw up our cap situation much anyways. We're already at the cap, we have the wiggle room and his deal comes off completely with Brad/Kenny/SAR and if we want, it come come off at 50% with Bibby. Great move by Petrie, Moore could also be an additional trading chip down the road.Moore's a good player, very underrated. He'll rebound and block shots for us and is a good signing IMO.
