many fisherman i have fished with have cut up tuna right when we've caught them i dont know which people you talked too. and the japanese do have the longest life spans because of the mainly sushi/rice diet they abide to. dont get me wrong, i am a bbq man. just dont think you should bash sushi cause you dont like it. i have to be drunk to eat it.

I have never seen a fisherman eat raw fish. I know guys who have eaten earth worms, house flys, and a trantula live, but no raw fish yet. Wait, I watched a guy swallow a goldfish once, but he wasn't a fisherman.

Back to the topic. Go Darius!

Oh God... I am so old.

Yes, he means an entire goldfish. They were swallowed whole - it was disgusting but a huge fad a long, long time ago in a world far away from what you now know.

LMAO! 'Fraid I'll have to join you in the "old" category VF21. I remember too. How about piling into VWs! ;)

Imagine the poor fools who get suckered into this thread thinking its about Darius! :D

What is wrong with sushi, let me count the reasons:

1) Raw fish has invertibrate parasites, and some of these parasites kill humans. In fact, two U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers and a federal politician died last year from eating sushi in Tokyo. It took a couple of years for them to die. They each contracted a parasite for which there is no cure or treatment. I think it attacks the brain.

2) As any fisherman will tell you, raw fish and invertibrates should be used exclusively for bait to catch fish that you intend to clean, filet, and cook well before eating.

3) Sushi is more expensive than truly edible fish.

4) Speculation. I think people eat sushi largely because it is cool. Much like eastern tourists and Hollywood bozos might eat Rocky Mountain Oysters while staying at a dude ranch.

5) Sushi should not be eaten when there are BBQ grills, broilers, pans, deep fryers, crushed garlic, cracked pepper, drawn butter, and tasty marinades readily available.

Darius probably left the sushi place because he initially thought that he had walked into a proper fish-and-chips joint.

I love sushi and believe me, there are lot of worse thing you can catch eating than sushi. It could be because i work with parasites on a daily basis. So i feel differently about it.

Fish is one of the healthiest forms of protein and its healty. About the parasite. I believe these risks may be considered minimal as long as the restaurant is reputable and obtains and maintains its fish according to high quality standard.

Your # 4. I think people eat sushi because they like it. I don't think it has anything to do with being cool. Since I'm Japanese, I grew up eating raw fish.

By the way, I think Darius left because he was hungry and didn't want to wait. Sometimes Mikuni's is a very long wait.

That or its so damn expensive. I prefer Botan Sushi.

Don't forget to mention that it was VW Beetles...not the vans. Oh, but I'm too young to remember that........................NOT! I think my friends and I could only get 11 piled into ours. hehehehe

I went ocean fishing last summer, caught a yellow-fin tuna, and while cleaning it the captain of the boat was slicing off pieces that we ate right there at the dock. That was the best sashimi I have ever had.

Yes! Now that's what I'm talking about.

haha, no. I used to do research with the Public Health Dept at UC Berkeley. Have moved on to bigger badder stuff (cancer) at LBL.

I see most of the kings players on a regular basis... from my work I can see arco (Round table pizza) also see players from other teams around alot too. bibby likes to park in handicap spots or just sit in the middle of the parking lot with his car... ive also delivered a pizza to cuttino mobley several times... maybe all the unhealthy food was part of the problem eh?

Not exactly last night, but this was Mike Bibby June 2003 at Bonehead Tattoo, my buddy Mike is on the far left.

If we're gonna post king's player sightings here's one... Mike Bibby's son plays baseball in my son's league and if available he is out there every Saturday watching. Team Dime usually keeps him away from the crowd, but he walks around and says hi. He sometimes will sign stuff after the game , but usually is talking on a cell phone. This could be a ploy though since he's usually holding it up to his head about 99% of the time. Also, we see him at Albertson's buying Krispy-Kremes and Gatorade. No Kiddin' I've seen it myself several times the last few years.

Yea.... well back in '93 I saw Jim Les filling up his mini-van at the Shell gas station on the corner of Douglas and Sierra College. How bout them apples!!!

Does that Bibby group-photo looks as though it were taken down at Castro and Market? A little theatrical?

I must admit that Mike looks tough and tan.

I guess I'm just not a tattoo-and-costume sort of guy.

I had Brad over in my backyard once and all of the ducks and pheasants dissappeared for some reason. :\ He left shortly after saying he "had nothing to shoot at". Oh well.

When Jerome James had his knee surgery he came into the movie theater and SAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!! He had two nice looking ladies with him. The movie was The Blair Witch Project...

You should've put a garbage bag over his head...

I'm NOT one of the, as someone put it, Bibby-stalkers on this board....

but there ain't nothing wrong with the wifebeater look. Took me by surprise, actually.

That's a good pic of Bibby, he must love that bracelet. That's cool he'll sign at his son's games. A lot of famous people act like they're too good for that when it's not related directly to what they do.

I saw some Kings player today

Alot of people know that I work at the airport. After getting coffee, I was going down the escalutor and this guy in front of me was pretty tall. I thought "man, he could be a basketball player" and then realized it was Matt Barnes. In front of him was Mike Bibby and Eddie House. They were with a group of guys arriving from Burbank.

Just thought I would share!

^^ cool. thanks for sharing :)

stories about player encounters are great, especially during the offseason!

i get SO BORED cause there's no news about them for so long, so stuff like this is good to know.

maybe someone should start an "official player encounter thread."

i hate TDOS!!!
