[Game] Kings @ Rockets - 4/14/13

Actually there is a very reasonable explanation. The season is over and a win does almost nothing to change anything. Playing Reke 40 min serves no purpose. We all know that he can play and has been given every opportunity to show who he is and what he is capable of. Same goes for most of the other starters. We know who they are. Cole, Jimmer, PP and Douglas haven't had minutes. It makes sense to let them play and see what you have with them.
If Reke played 35-40 most nights I might agree. However, he's been d***ed around all year and has not been given every opportunity to show who he is. He's had a shorter leash than any other starter. He either plays the entire 2nd half, 24 straight minutes, or ends up playing 32 mins or under. It's only the random 24 min straight second halves which are why he's averaging above 30 mins a night.

Other aspect is Smart won't be here next year, nor will our current FO, and likely many of our players, so why would Smart test out the new guys or youngsters when he has no future here? As well as that is contradicted by Salmons playing huge mins and Reke being subbed out for Outlaw.

How has he given Reke or any of the starters a chance to succeed? He plays them for less than 30 minutes except for John ****ing Salmons who always ends up with like 35+ minutes a night. Not even older players who are the best on their teams play that little in a game, your starters should average at least 34-38 minutes a game. Whenever a player has a good 1st quarter, what does Smart do, benches them for the rest of the ****ing half and icing them for when they come back in. How does that help them get better? It doesn't, it shows them that even when they're playing well, you will get sat down for no reason, except Smart has to make everybody happy. This ain't no ****ing pee wee league, play the people who give you the best shot to win and get the **** out of their way.

2 more games until his *** is ****canned and he can get the **** out of Sacramento, he doesn't deserve to be the ****ing ballboy

No, that's bull****.
He's given starter's minutes to journeymen during his entire tenure. He doesn't understand that in order to succeed, you have to follow the hierarchy. Starters play starter's minutes, unless they are no longer starters. One of the reasons people foolishly believe Evans isn't a star is because they don't see what he can do given even 30 minutes a game. 30 goddamn minutes.

With few games left, you absolutely want your stars feeling confident about the offseason. Logging heavy minutes knowing that they're earning a break is the right thing to do. It sucks that Jimmer didn't get his chance to develop this year, for your sake, so I know you were excited to see him play, but moving this team forward falls on Evans and Cousins, not IT, certainly not ****ing Outlaw.
What really pisses me off is that as flawed as this team was, there was potential for quite a bit of growth, but Smart decided to try and kumbayah his way to equality even though everyone knows a pecking order needs to exist for success. A wise man once said, "know your role and shut your mouth." Had we a competent coach, we would have had roles. We would have had structure. We would have had growth.

He pulled the same crap in golden state. I'll toast his departure heavily. Glad to see his smallball crap, playing 12th man like star player bull**** out of here.
Mods, let me know if I've overstepped my bounds. If not, I've got some more that I've been holding back. I already edited this thrice.

****ing exactly, i'm suprised Reke actually averages 30 minutes a game, most nights he plays 27-29 minutes a game and then he's on the bench for Travis ****ing Outlaw or James "Predator Hair" Johnson.

You saw my rant and I haven't been banned yet. Let loose, Smart's judged on wins and losses and he's failed miserably with his bull**** mini me line ups and other ****ery. **** him, I hope he gets to read what I put he deserves to get called out for his bull****

With the possible exception of the occasional ****, I would have pretty much said the same thing. You have not overstepped your bounds. As long as you keep the language family-friendly, I'd say let it out. It's good for the soul. If it's too much, I can fix it. :D

Actually, I was typing my response on my phone, which can be both time consuming and challenging...especially with auto correct. By the time I finished, there were about three other responses.
As long as smart is out and the kings stay I'll be happy. If it costs Evans/Cousins, then my little Jack Russell will be working overtime to fill some paper bags...

i might have a theory on why smart plays reke low minutes.
maybe its because reke doesnt fit his type of game plan. rke is just a layup guy and smart likes shooter, ex small ball. when reke is missing his layups he takes him out. then he subs in a scorer off the bench. maybe?

It's not a "very reasonable explanation" when he's been pulling this crap for the last 5 months.

I was tempted to agree with you... then I remembered that Smart doesn't have a game plan. I hate Keith Dumb.

The game plan is to lose, and Keith Smart is the perfect coach to execute that plan. Isn't that why he walks the sideline with the stat sheet? I'm not sure why all the rage for Smart over this game... this was vintage Smart, a masterpiece even, dotted with his usual Travis Outlaw signature. Perfetto!
