Did Jerry really say something like that??? So strange. I have NBA package from Dish Network and we have been getting the other team's broadcasting crew this whole road trip, and I have to say it's been a very refreshing road trip. :)
It was about a foul call on cousins where he said most fans couldn't see cousins off hand pushing, but Jerry can. Something along those lines.

Actually on the Pelicans broadcast they were praising Cousins' play itself like crazy. Only thing was they kept harping on the whole temper/attitude thing, particularly after he got called for the tech. They said that they asked G&J pre-game whether Cousins has changed in terms of always talking to the refs and were answered in the negative.

Cousins hasn't changed, J and G? It's like there is an on-off switch with people who analyze him including our expert analysts on TV. If he whines incessantly like the first three years that's one thing. He doesn't do that anymore no matter what our announcers think. Has he stopped getting techs? No. If you have no sophistication in your analysis, Cousins hasn't changed. If you look at his overall demeanor, I think he has changed a lot. Why do our announcers throw him under the bus yet ignore the faults IT has and no, folks, IT is not perfect either. Our announcers are no better than fans and they are picking their favorites.

I expect mistakes and even misinformation and fan behavior towards certain players on this forum. I don't expect it from our announcers and it shows they are no better than us.

Yes he said that and amazingly I too saw Cousins pushing off with his left arm. This may shock Jerry who must be in some kind of personal crisis mode about his ability to judge talent and basketball plays.

If there was ever a game for Thornton to put up a effective 15 this is it he will be open all night. If you can't score on James Harden you really need to think about moving to on to a different career.

I honestly think he was referring to the camera angle. G&J have different views available while we only get one at a time. Jerry can be annoying at times, but I don't think he was being dismissive about the fans' ability to perceive a foul when it occurs.

I am probably going to butcher this ... relying on memory (bad thing, very bad thing). He was commenting on most fans wouldn't/couldn't see the fouls because they are only watching the ball and because he isn't, he can.

He certainly did. Outrageous display of arrogance and ignorance all in one swoop statement. You'd expect that from Grant, but Jerry has been increasingly hormonal lately too.

I think you're giving him the benefit of the doubt, but my interpretation was the same as whozits. I thought Jerry and Grant were saying that fans only look at the ball, as if they don't have the intelligence to look for other types of body contact. I think it's a stretch to say he was talking about camera angles, but I admire your looking on the positive side. Maybe I'm too cynical...

Yes, there was a bit more to it than what I said, the cousins one may have in fact been about the angle.

The fans inability to watch anything but the ball he definitely said. Which I disagree with.

Ah, thank you. I stand corrected.

EDIT: I still believe that it was at least partially about camera angle. And I do not believe - contrary to Dime Dropper - that they were speaking with disdain about the average Kings fan. But, just like in the other thread, I've grown beyond tired of looking for reasons to be angry or to assign negativity. It really burdens the spirit.

I'm just looking forward to a good game tonight. GO KINGS!

as much as I've been avoiding Grant and Jerry lately (thanks again ILP premium and your ability to switch crews!), tonight they'll definitely be the choice. Houston broadcasters are among the dumbest and most blatantly homerific there is. claimed that Aaron Brooks would start for 20 teams in this league, earlier in the season.

Yet this is the same guy who repeatedly only sees the offensive end and shooting touch while apparently being oblivious to defense and rebounding.

Jerry's "vision" is highly questionable when he repeatedly has shown he only sees one side of the ball.

We know he reads STR. I think he does read this forum. He does regularly make comments which IMO are aimed directly at posts/tweets he sees from fans on twitter/forums/blogs.

We also know Grant ripped Boogie a number of times last year on his show and doesn't care for him all that much. While he's more complementary of Boogie this year(likely due Vivek/max contract/foundation of franchise) much does come through as forced. It surely doesn't roll off his tongue as easily as it does for another of our players where there's a spike/rise in his voice almost every time that player shoots. Have we once heard, "oh boy, how about that DeMarcus Cousins, he can't be stopped"? No.

I agree with the poster who enjoys opposing broadcasts when we're on the road. Makes the game much more tolerable to watch.

That is what he said.

Am I the only one that does not mind listening to Jerry and Grant? I mean they are not the smartest tools in the shed but they do flow well of each other and are not extremely bias towards the Kings. Grant as a radio host is a complete dick by as a play by play guy he's up there imo. I know they go overboard a bit on Isaiah but hey they are fans just as much as we are.

They are way better than 90% of the L's commentary teams to me the Dallas Mavericks by far have the best commentary team they got three guys all funny/completely unbias and you can tell really love doing what they do.

I have always appreciated the two but recently they are taking things that fans say on forums (I presume) too personally and now are letting their fandom intrude on their abilities to be conveyers of information. They are taking a position on one side of an argument that is occurring here. I want them to have a bias towards the Kings but not towards individual players at the expense of other players who are trying very hard also. This obviously will inflame a few posters but does anyone think that Cousins plays with less heart than IT?

Stating that fans do not understand IT's skill is absurd but stating that IT gives 100% for every minute is simply not true. Where's the defensive effort, for example? Stating in essence that he should shoot instead of dishing an assist not only goes against what a lot of us are saying, it goes against what that coach wants. IT is getting better but I don't want to be put down as a fan because I don't see things the way the announcers see it. Jerry has twice in succeeding games said that the average fan does not get it like he does. What's the point of saying that? I don't watch games to be put down.

So why is Korver winning the Poll on a Kings forum?? As far as I'm concern everyone should be rooting for IT streak to continue but I understand not everyone here is a true Kings fan. Hopefully Korver's streak ends tonight with a win by our boys and a continuation of IT's streak.

There're lots of IT haters on this board.

I don't like 'em. Everybody knows Jerry is awful, and I think Grant is overrated. Up there to me is someone like Kevin Calabro, who called Sonics games.

Probably because there is a difference between predicting what will happen and asking what one wants to happen.

Absurd but if it suits you to think anyone here hates IT, that's fine. I don't get it. I hate no one and certainly don't hate any King.

Are you referring to me? Name a few and let them comment on their "hate." An idle comment using a strong term like that is just inflammatory and serves no useful purpose.

He's winning because he has the longest streak in NBA history and is one of the league's all time best shooters. The question wasn't whose streak do we hope ends soonest.

I've always found Jerry painful to listen to. He seems like a really nice guy and he's entertaining in his own way, but aside from personal anecdotes that can be interesting, he demonstrates a weak grasp of the game and rarely adds insightful info you hope for from a color guy. His charm has worked for a while but its time to change. Listen to someone like Doris Burke or Kayte to see the difference.

meh, they add nothing to the game outside of increasingly annoying catch phrases, whereas most other crews at least make an attempt at analysis, even sometimes explain plays or tactics (when's the last time you've seen G&J diagram a play or anything like that?).

as far as the 90% goes, that'd mean you think there are only three crews that are better, here are ten I like a better: BKN, NYK, PHI, CHA, MIA, IND, ORL, MIN, NOP, LAL. this list isn't even exhaustive, but all of those guys do significantly better work. they don't have as good a sideline reporter, though, and if Kayte ever took over for Jerry, the whole situation would look a lot different.

a) simmer down, b) nobody asked who people were rooting for to have the longer streak (Korver already extended his, btw) but who people thought would have his streak going on longer. Korver was reinserted in the fourth quarter of a BKN-ATL blowout in London specifically so as to keep his streak alive. his whole franchise stands behind his quest to extend that streak as far as he can and there's not much else he does on the court anyway. this whole streak thing is clearly more important to him and his team than it is to Thomas (one would hope, at least). he is the better shooter, too, so it's not unreasonable to assume he'd keep this streak going on longer than IT will.

Game time.. go Kings. I don't have grant and jerry tonight on league pass :)

They pointed out on the Rockets broadcast that IT/DMC/Gay is the highest scoring trio in the nba since Dec 13 @ 65.4 ppg

No, I'm positive that there are other people here with terrible taste in broadcasters.

They are way better than 90% of the L's commentary teams to me the Dallas Mavericks by far have the best commentary team they got three guys all funny/completely unbias and you can tell really love doing what they do.
This is absolutely not true, and verifiably so. I mean, I freely admit to bias when I put them in the bottom three in the entire league (only Gorman/Heinsohn and McLeod/Carr are worse, IMO) but, even by the most objective criteria, setting aside personal taste, I don't see how any reasonable person could put them higher than fourteenth-best.

Unfortunately for you, the question was not, "Whose streak do you hope ends first?"

... but I understand not everyone here is a true Kings fan.
Check yourself.

Hopefully Korver's streak ends tonight with a win by our boys and a continuation of IT's streak.
Too late.
