Kings possible intrest in Dragic

This trade doesn't address our defensive problem. The positives of this trade are that it moves Thomas back to 6th man of the year and it gives us a versatile backcourt player. I would never give up McLemore in a deal for Dragic. I don't care how much he struggles as a rookie.

Dragic is too valuable for it not to include IT or Ben.

You have to watch out with trading Ben, but it should be noted that Dragic is actually an ideal sort of PG to pair with IT because it allows you to send IT to the bench, and yet Dragic is big enough that you can have them play minutes together ala the old Bibby/Bobby pairing, or, of course, what they are already doing with Bledsoe. Start Dragic/ a Thabo type guy, bring in IT next to either, be pretty complete.

Now the thing is that if you seriously go out and add Dragic without subtracting IT then our shots crunch becomes borderline impossible. I mean, it heads into are you kidding me territory when you have your presumed lineups of IT/Dragic/Gay/Cousins? Come on, this isn't NBA2K. You just have to dump every single other player on the team who would want more than 5 shots a game. Reggie Evans might be too big of a gunner for the leftovers we'd have.

Bad choice of words on my part. I was mostly referring to the difference in salaries. Dragic makes 7.5 mil a year, so yeah, IT could be included, but he can't be the main ingredient salary wise. Of course if you include IT in the trade, who has value talent wise, then you might ask for a 1st round pick from the Sun's, who have the possibility of 3 first round picks. Yeah, I know, not likely, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I understand that Jimmer and McCallum are all for this trade. :p

I thought Dragic has always been a pretty bad defender? I could be wrong, I haven't seen him play much but I just don't see him as all that much of an upgrade over IT. Now if they want to talk Bledsoe, I'd trade half our team for him.

Let me put it this way. If Vasquez is a 2 on defense, then Dragic is a 10. Dragic isn't Tony Allen, but he's not a big liability either. He certainlly puts out the effort. He's quicker than one thinks. Just ask our guards that were trying to guard him when we played the Suns. He pretty much went where ever he wanted whenever he wanted. He's also a pretty good outside shooter, so you have to guard him on the perimeter, unlike Vasquez, who they cheated off of to double on Cousins.

Not sure what junk from us PHX would ever take in return for Dragic. We're going to have to give up more than MT/JT/Jimmer to get him.

Yeah...the PHX DID want to tank at the start, but now that they have a formidable backcourt they are in scramble mode to stack their lineup to make playoffs and create chemistry.

Yeah you guys saying his defense is Beno like does not make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I don't see PHO doing this anyway since they're all the sudden playoff contenders.

We had a chance early in the season to get Dragic
I'm not so sure now...

How can we get Dragic without giving up a draft pick obviously. IT, JT, Jimmer?
Dragic would be the perfect PG for this team. He has all the qualities on both ends. While he's not a superior defender, he makes up for it offensively and has a lot more room to improve. He also doesn't get blown by opposing guards because he's actually tall enough to defender his man and 2 guard.

Kings should have made this deal months ago. Draft a shot blocker like Cauley Stein or Vonleh and bah new starting 5:
Dragic (3rd scorer/pass first type of European guard)
Ben Mac (Hopefully continues to improve on both ends of court)
Rudy Gay (hopefully opts out of contract)
Cauley Stein/Vonleh (rim protector issue-solveD)
D-Mac (....)

Sixth Man: D-Will, and fill in the blanks for bench

I don't believe Suns are anywhere close to being interested at unloading him at this point. It will take a king's ransom.

Agreed. It's too late. 15 games ago when rumors started rolling, it was still possible. Now, it's too late. We'd have to give up a draft pick to be honest.

I agree! Last I heard they were promoting him for the all star team. I think the Suns have surprised everyone, including themselves. Rumors are that all of their first round picks are up for sale if they can acquire someone that can help with their playoff push. So I don't think they want to move Dragic. At least not now!

Nope, their not looking for more draft picks. Their looking for players to put them over the hump. I think those acquired 1st round picks were always looked at as trading pieces, either to move up in the draft, or to acquire a good player

Quick, offer them Landry!

Well, how much longer in the foreseeable future can they keep forcing a Bledsoe/Dragic duo in the starting lineup? Two natural PG's on floor at same time. Doesn't really work.

Well that's up to them. However, I believe that their very happy they have Dragic right now, and didn't trade him earlier.

After beating the pacers, they might be thinking they can make the playoffs and actually win a round. I'm not sure they are wrong.

They're not giving up Dragic for anything except Cousins from this Kings team.

Edit: That's not a prediction. But I'm not setting limits on that team right now either. They are miles from tanking. Hornacek is the real deal.

They'll probably trade bledsoe for a different position IMO. Dragic has a lot more upside in him right now. It's his first season as an established starter and he's proving that he deserves it. I'm surprised he didn't make the all-star game (might still if Kobe opts out).

Nah they love Bledsoe and I think they love them both together. Other wise I would offer them mclemore in a sign and trade if they didn't wanna give him the max but they will

Define "not working." Their Bledsoe/Dragic/Tucker/Frye/Plumlee lineup is +57 for the season. Isolate it to just Dragic and Bledsoe, and the Suns outscore opponents by almost 7 points per 100 possessions when the two are paired. On the whole, the team everyone thought would be the bottom of the west is currently a sixth seed. We'll see if things change once Bledsoe returns, but I wouldn't imagine they're in a hurry to shake things up. If anything, they'll probably look to be buyers with the Okafor expiring and the three first rounders they already have.

You have hit the nail precisely on the head.
