That comes as no surprise to anyone; no one ever said he couldn't rebound just as well as a starter. What some (read: me) have said was that he doesn't really defend his man (and he doesn't), as he will play waaaaay off his man, to go chase down rebounds. So far, that's exactly how it's played out; we've been quite fortunate that Detroit doesn't really feature Monroe in their offense.5 boards already for Reggie!
Not bad for a "match up" PF his D on Monroe and SmithGood defense by Evans; he is actually very good at getting strips, which is why it annoys me so much that he so rarely stays on his man.
It's not bad when he actually plays defense; so far, he's only played defense on two possessions out of the time he's been out there. The rest of the time, he's been chasing rebounds. Not bad for a "match up" PF his D on Monroe and Smith
Lol it's called help defence I know it's a concept none of us are familar with since JT's time here at PF, which is exactly what you do against Monroe and Smith even if they make jumpers you encourage them to shoot. It's not bad when he actually plays defense; so far, he's only played defense on two possessions out of the time he's been out there. And, regarding your presumed mocking of my description of Evans as a matchup power forward, he has thus far been asked to defend a center playing out of position (Monroe), and an undersized power forward (Smith). You're not going to get a much better opportunity to start a matchup PF.
Terrible choice by Isaiah you go to Cousins there on the break not Ben
It does you go to the guy you know will catch it and is a better finisher that's the difference between a average PG and good PG you know your personalIt shouldn't make any difference who he passes it to but I get your point.
What help defense do you think he's played, exactly? He has no blocks, he's altered no shots, neither of his strips came underneath the basket, he's drawn no charges, and the Pistons have half their points in the paint. You seem to be playing fast and loose with your definition of help "defense."Lol it's called help defence [sic] I know it's a concept none of us are familar with since JT's time here at PF, which is exactly what you do against Monroe and Smith even if they make jumpers you encourage them to shoot.
Lol since when does help defence have anything to do with blocks/charges? Help defence is cutting off drives and passing lanes and he's done a lot of that everytime he's on the floor it's not about stats....Sure it's nice to get blocks and charges but stopping a pass/driving lanes is just as important if not more so. A lot those points in the paint came when Stuckey was on the floor and Reggie was not....so yeah. What help defense do you think he's played, exactly? Since when? Since always. They aren't the only defining characteristics of help defense, but they are fairly important elements. What exactly do you think the point of having a rim protector is, if you don't think that shot blocking has anything to do with help defense? He's not cutting off drives: I've seen Singler and Stuckey both get past their man, and shoot right over him. If he's disrupting the passing lanes so well, why don't the Pistons have more turnovers? I'm not even asking why he doesn't have more steals, I'm asking why they don't have more turnovers? Surely, if he were as effective at help defense as you make out, they would have more turnovers, stats or no stats: somebody would have lost a ball off their foot, or something.Lol since when does help defence have anything to do with blocks/charges? The most aggravating thing about being a fan of a losing team are the people who can't differentiate between tanking and just being bad. It's just so much bull**** rationalization. It's like some people can't reconcile or accept the fact that their team is just plain bad; there has to be some other explanation, in their eyes. We can't actually be this bad: we have to be doing it on purpose! Yeah, that's the ticket!Beep beep! Tank wagon is in full effect!
That's what occurs when you make slow undecisive moves against a guy who's not even a good man to man defender he's excellent at help D but I have seen him get murdered by Dwight/Marc Gasol and many others. Cousins taking all those jumpers just plays right into his hands and the fact Cousins is not passing much out of the post since no one is cutting makes it even easier.Drummond outscoring Cousins smh
