honestly I don't know if it's allowed. But from all indications Sharpe is not scrimmaging which is a huge red flag.

I could be wrong, but I remember hearing at one point that workouts against current NBA players were prohibited. Would love to put each prospect against Davion to see how they fare, but think it would have to be Doug (if he’s still got it!).
my main guess is this would be because those guys are supposed to be on vacation and it's a CBA thing ... what if they just happened to play some pickup ball unofficially on a private court like Magic vs. Norm in Winning Time lol
I don't think anyone would ever get drafted if they had to go 1 on 1 vs. Davion in the gym lol

Age is undefeated, but Doug would know a prospect’s attributes after a one on one session. Even if Doug gets roasted, he’d know.

There was a similar story of a recently retired Michael Cooper of the Showtime Lakers playing teen age Kobe Bryant in pre-draft workouts with Jerry West watching. After watching one scrimmage, Jerry West was on the phone trying to move up in the draft to draft Kobe. The rest is history.
I can think of at least one example where such a matchup changed my mind about a prospect. The biggest reason I had Devin Booker mocked as a top 10 player in his draft year (2015) was that a video came out pre-draft of him going 1-on-1 against Andre Igoudala and he more than held his own. Igoudala had a reputation as a defensive stopper and was still in his prime in 2015 and the scouting report on Booker was that he was a bit of a soft spot-up shooter who lacked shot creation skills. I knew that scouting report was inaccurate though just from 6-8 minutes of seeing him react to Igoudala's defense.
All these gym workout videos where a guy is pretending to play defense and then pulls back and lets the stud prospect score are pretty comical in comparison. If we are allowed to get Davion in a gym with them, there's a lot you can learn about a player when they actually have to create against real ball pressure.

I'll never understand how teams get duped into drafting guys who practice well but don't show up in games.

I wouldn't like the idea of replacing Fox with Ivey. I like Ivey, I don't see Fox level talent out of him. At least not as a PG who can attack like he does. Ivey is different. Fox is bashing guys, Ivey will sky over them. Fox controls the middle. Ivey is more of a 3 point line and at the basket type.

Maybe, but Ben was obviously nowhere near as put together as Sharpe. As young as he is you can see the size on him. He'll probably play around 220 at some point.
Is 35% in college (granted it was up from 25% in year one) that much better than 32% in the NBA? I'll be honest that I don't really follow what NCAA to Pro transitions on 3s look like. Other than that time we drafted Jimmer lol.
I don't think Ivey is being drafted as a 3 point threat as much as another attack the basket type. Which gives me a lot of pause. Also as someone who is generally pro-Ivery round these parts you saying you don't see "Fox level talent out of him" is very concerning. To be honest I also question if that level of talent is even in this draft which is why I want the best plug and play guy.

I'm just saying, that's where his shots are coming from, which might be lowering his efficiency. If you haven't watched the vid I linked you should. It's long, but it's about as right on the money as you get. He even noticed the same thing I did this season, a lot of his 3's are waaay out there. Like Curry/Trae level. Coming off screens he was really good.
Here's the part about 3 point shooting:
The highest frequency of his shots are from well beyond the NBA 3. Most college players "3's" aren't the same as NBA 3's. His are.

Most of his 3s were from NBA range and he also made the most NBA range 3s in all of college with 40. I guess college players really capitalize on that extra foot or whatever it is lol

You know Davion would be down for it. I think I'd want Fox to defend as well so you could see if the prospect can at least make something happen against a lesser defender as well. Davion made Pritchard look really bad in SL and Pritchard is actually a pretty decent player. Would suck to pass up on a player if they just weren't ready for that level of defense but could actually play the team game much better or at least look better with an effective screen.
Yeah I rolled my eyes at the Sharpe footage of him prancing around in the gym and jogging for wide open dunks. That type of stuff tells us nothing. Neither does shooting footage of guys making 10 in a row from beyond the arc. We saw multiple clips of Bagley doing that as well. Other than shooting form, I'm not sure if there is a whole lot you can gain from that type of footage.
I'm not a skilled observer but others pointed out that in his workout tapes he had just about zero ball protection so even in dribbling around the cones and chairs he may as well have just been doing a dunk contest.

One thing I like about Sharpe is alot of his work comes off the ball. We need to surround Sabonis and Fox that can excel without the ball in their hands. That’s also a reason I like Murray to the Kings

I think ideally you want him leaking out though and not playing PG.
Is he a 2 or a 3 (Sharpe)? Without evidence he can defend the NBA SF, I don't know what to make of him. I would love it if someone wanted to give us a fool's package for him, or if he gets drafted 2 or 3.

The more I look into Sharpe the more I’m glad he didn’t play any ball in college and won’t show anything but his athleticism and a few shots for working out. Main reason is cause Vivek might fall in love with him but with all these uncertainties I don’t think any scout can really say “this guy is the next big thing”
Yeah that's not good. Transition plays are some of the easiest plays to make in basketball.
Looks completely wild at times in that video and almost James Harden like in others. Difficult to make anything of it.
It seems like the reason he didn't do those things is because he is hiding something.
You tell me that Kentucky was good enough to sit him this year if he could contribute?

I think it is not unlikely he drops but I could see Houston making the gamble.
Between the top 5 lotto teams, 4 of which seem to be in Hinkie mode, HOU strikes me as the one with the most incompetent FO right now.
If Orlando goes Chet - I could see OKC swinging for the fences with Ivey or Banchero before I see them passing on Smith for Sharpe.
That would sure make things interesting.
Would love for Houston to do something crazy and make a top 3 player available to us.
I don't see Banchero as a swing for the fences type player though. I'd be shocked if he dropped out of the top 2.
