I think monk should’ve started this game over Mitchell. Hindsight is 20/20 but Davion hasn’t had a hot shooting night once this season and ID rather have a full threat offensive to start the game than have gaps in it. Dudes got some work to do this off season or gotta go

Smh, Davion ain’t it is he?
He definitely doesn’t seem to have the same confidence on offense that he has on defense. He looks to me like he has solid handles and his shot definitely isn’t broken, but he just plays a passive offensive game.

I’d like to see him use those handles to get some separation for an easy mid range jumper here and there. I think he’s good enough to pull that off, he’s just gotta go for it.

But you always have to keep in mind he’s still a 2nd year guy, and theoretically he should continue to develop.

Without Fox, it was hit or miss. If for example he or Sabonis misses like 10 games as a hypothetical somewhere down the line, all they need to do is hold down the fort for 3-7 or 4-6 during, and not completely collapse like the Suns, Pacers, and Pelicans when their best player went down. The Pacers would be looking a lot different with a 4-6 record during that Hali-less stretch instead of 1-9.
Yeah and just the fact that the NBA is just pretty good overall this year. Just so few bad teams to beat up on and inflate the record. So if you're getting a win, it's going to be earned.

The good news is everyone else has the same problem. So whereas like a 3-7 stretch might have killed you in years past; you might be able to hold ground because so few teams are able to rifle off 5-6 game winning streaks this season.

In the West especially, the playoff spots are going to go to the teams that avoid the "crumble" near the end of the season. Too competitive, too much parity in the conference.

Whining about Davion aside, can’t complain about an L when your #1B is out for personal reasons. It is what it is. Onto the next, take care of business against who you should.

Lose one of those tho? PANIC #TANK #VICTORWATCH

He's just really struggled in Brown's system. All that confidence he had to close the season where the offense ran through him is totally gone. Maybe because he's not really an off-ball player and our entire system is predicated on movement off of Domas in the DHO?

Something to really think about heading into this deadline.
Him and Holmes… gotta fetch something … maybe? Idk, I can’t imagine Davion has too high of value around the league nor does Holmes.

Two guys who *can* work elsewhere, in a different system.

Davion Mitchell is too small for the NBA. If he were 6'5" he'd be a starter and if average NBA height (6'7") he'd be an all-star. Little Mitchell is listed a very generous 6'0" but that's in shoes.

That's true. One thing that's helped also though is that you have players like Zion out, Leonard in and out, AD's been out. Those things have certainly been helping teams at the top pad a little. Even sitting at 3 finally and the Kings can't get away from a crucial end of season crunch that always seems to find them.

I have to wonder if we can use him in a Vanderbilt package, but this relies on Davion's lottery star still shining.

I'm okay with him being a 15 minute backup who's only job is to go and play defense, but Vanderbilt just fills a more important defensive need based on his position.

Just checking in to say something about only being one deep at PG. well I guess what we have witnessed most of the season really came to light in our loss Tonight.

We have to fill the backup roll at center and point guard because if Fox ever gets hurt and is out for awhile we are going to be in trouble.

Monte I trust sees it hope something gets done as we are to close to making the playoffs and it’ll be ugly if we tail spin.

I think that's why you consider making the move now, while he still has some of that lottery shine. And he makes sense for a UTA team that's is looking for some sort of future in their guard slots.

I'd have to believe Davion and maybe a 2nd would be among the more attractive deals for Vandy over heavily protected FRP or contender FRP

Ownership. Accountability. This man “gets it.” We are in good hands.
Comments like this matters. He holds our guys accountable when they mess up, but they also see he admits when he coached poorly and takes accountability for that. You really do see why we've had such good team buy-in for Brown; he seems like an incredible coach to play for

For a combo G expected to lock down the other teams best scorer, maybe. It depends on what he is though even in an off game he's playing solid defense but yeah, once he's on size that can pull up, it's free and clear over the top. History usually tells the tale on players and smallish PG's that lean more towards combo G's have a pretty clear one. Even the good ones tend to fade quicker (Kemba, IT) but there are a few exclusions here and there and Davion might be one because of his defense which probably makes him a role guy obviously. Davion got a chance to run a ton of pick and roll at the end of last season and with a coach like Gentry he found a real groove. Brown doesn't really run the same kind of offense. If Davion could find the right situation that allowed him to get into "his" areas consistently he's produce at a decent clip. The same thing could be said for Keegan right now.

Gives us room to try Monk at the PG. I know that has problems but the offense can't be worse and the addition of Vandy should stymie the bench defense.

Hell, beyond Vandy, I think even Keegan Murray right is more impactful to a team's defense (though Davion is better at what he does on that end for guard defense), as a 6'8" switchable SF/PF, especially with his recent focus on rebounding.
