Ike Diogu's shot is no fluke...he's just a good shooter. He's hustling out their too...he wants this game. Its impressing me more and more as we go on. I know its one game, but we've given Donte Greene more minutes this season and we haven't seen him do anything like this yet.

Yes, someone who is a not acareer scrub having 1 big game in search of a new contract.

Seriously, this means nothing.
Im not saying break the bank on this guy ..

1 mil max for 1 year .. he'll be lucky to be in the league next year anyways.. and in the slightest of chances that he can continue to prove something with minutes .. well, win win.

Ike Diogu tunrs into superstar 245 games into his 6pt 3reb NBA career? Somehow I have my doubts. Playing a hell of a game. But oyu don't give a guy a big contract because he played a good game for you once on a terrible team in April while searching for a constract.

Brick, take a look at his game log for the last 4 years:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3935/gamelog;_ylt=AgaoUVi9aP5gBJobL4M2Hi4gPaB4?year=2005

Yes his career numbers are not exciting, but look at the numbers he put up when he actually got to play. They're very respectable. The reason he hasn't gotten consistent playing time the past three years (because he actually got a lot his rookie season) is that he's been buried on different teams depth charts.

Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said he'd be a superstar...I never said give him a big contract. I said if he accepts a 2-3 mil contract why not? We need a back-up anyways so it would be best used on a young crappy player whose shown some promise than a veteran crappy player just to fill the roster.

Thing is most players who get no time have similar blips -- the reason is simple. If they are having the rare "on" game, then they keep on playing and stacking up numbers. When they are their normal self, they just get quickly pulled and get no minutes.

he has also been a classic April superstar -- its an annual phenomenon that all around the league guys who aren't really that good will suddenly put up big numebrs come April when their teams are out of it and its kind fo the season's garbagetime.

I don't know...in his rookie season he sure had alot of rare "on" games...

I've always wondered why Ike never got much of a chance anywhere, not just here.
He had a good start as a rookie, his rate stats have been constant, and he's still young. Besides foul trouble, I don't see a reason why he's never gotten 15 minutes a game.

No interest in resigning him though, especially after a game like this, which could be the difference between a near minimum contract and a 3 year "take a chance on me" deal.

Yeah but the thing is, even when he's given 5-10 minutes he's putting up numbers. The only times he's not putting up numbers is when you see a 0 in the minutes column. So it isn't like he's usually unproductive and then once in a while has a big game. When he's given 5-10 minutes he gets a few points and a few rebounds. When he's given starter type minutes, he puts up starter type numbers. If you look at the games he actually got to play in and average those numbers out for the rest of the season, he would be a good rotation player on any team. The rest of the games you can't say he's getting yanked because he doesn't get any floor time at all. Is there a reason why his coaches aren't putting him out there more often whent he numbers say they should? Is it attitude? That's just speculation.

Is it even fair that a teams 3 star players play like crap and yet someone still comes out and scores 11 3's for 40+ points. Its almost insulting to see him chucking up 3's just to break records.

lol classless? for going for a record at home, last game of the season, fan appreciation night, etc? jr was on fire! any player on the kings (or any team) does the same.

good game nonetheless.
no... ive never seen a player throw up shots like that in my entire life. I saw Ben Gordon hit the most in a row at 9 and he was totally in line. Jr Smith was being ridiculous.

then we can just disagree. like i said, it was the emotion of the game, nuggets playing for a division, at home, in front of a loud crowd...everyone wanted him to shoot those.

He was showboating. Whatever occasion you want to throw out there, fan appreciation night or whatever, he was showboating. He wanted the record, and was looking to get it. I don't blame him for wanting a record, but that was blatant showboating.

is hawes alright? that is my main concern

i think he should sit out the next game and just work out this offseason but i give props to him and JT for holding down the front line as best as a 20 and 22 year old can

lets show em some love

I believe it was his left knee. Does anybody know which knee was operated on before? God, I'd hate to see if it was the same knee that had the microfracture surgery.

JR Smith blasting 3 pointers with a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter is nearly as bad as missing a shot at the opponents basket and trying to get the rebound. He was showboating, and I'm glad that Cisco fouled his a($.
