This is terrible

did I just see Jackson Douby and Brown on the court at the same time?

I know I was like wtf :/

I hope so!

Am I reading this box score right? 10 minutes left in the 4th and Thompson has played 8 minutes?

I've never started a Fire Coach X thread, but boy am I tempted.

He is a horrible coach and players hate him. No way.

And the Mavericks have done so well since they fired him?

Honestly, every rookie coach goes through rough patches. It's not an easy job. If Avery learned the right lessons he could be a top notch coach. He had the Mavs Dick Bavetta away from a championship. That's nothing to sneeze at.

IF Theus is gone, I strongly suspect the Kings will find an interim coach so they can go after the big guns over the summer.

Slamson could be the interim coach for all I care as long as Thompson and Hawes are mandated 25+ minutes a night.

He took over a good team Nelly put together and had some success because of that. As soon as he had full control, the team went downhill, players hated playing for him, and demanded to be traded if he stayed. That's why they ditched him.

Again, Nelly had more to do with that than Avery. Read some of the stuff about his situation and when he left. Read the articles during the season before he was fired. It was not a pretty picture. He lucked into a great situation and took over a team already built to win.

So Theus played the vets the last game and got blown out. Now he plays the vets again and gets blown out. (Hawes and Thompson don't seem to have a role now for some reason). And then when he puts the youngins in there in garbage time they all play like it and don't take it very seriously, just jacking up shots indiscriminately. Theus doesn't even take a time out to coach them and just allows for the poor play to continue. Is that supposed to improve the game of our younger players?

Uh... how does going to the NBA finals comprise taking the team downhill when Nellie never got there? Particularly when the Mavs were some horrific refereeing away from winning? Granted, he choked in that series against the Warriors, but overall I'd say he took the team one step further than Nellie. If he lost the team that's on him, but I'm hopeful he learned some lessons from the experience.

And no Eddie Jordan. His player rotations are simply horrific and make no sense whatsoever. I've never been a fan.

All they have to do is say the word and I'll put in the call to my good friend Bozo the one-legged monkey. He'd work for peanuts.

:p

Now I am Pissed

I am ok with losing this season. They are young, and just not all that great. BUT, I am only OK with this as long as Spencer and Thompson, and now even Bobby Brown are getting big minutes. I am flat sick of seeing(last few games) Hawes on the bench and then coming in at around 2 minutes left in 1st quarter.

The rebounding is simply not as good with them not in the game. Mikki (who I like as a 15 minute guy off the bench) has no future on this team. He has no real offensive game, and he does not rebound.

These last few loses have been absolutely PATHETIC. Absolutely NONE of the energy and hustle that we saw in those losses a week ago when the youngsters were leading the way. Now the Thompson and Hawes go to the bench and that hustle is gone???? HELLO, this is not a coincidence. This is a 50 loss team at this point, so PLAY THE YOUNG guys....... Heck, give STARTERS minutes to at least Hawes and Thompson.

Are you kidding me, Hawes is in the top 8 in the league in blocks, because he is all over the place. He runs the floor.....

I have not been pissed all season, and after watching this second straight debacle I am now officially PISSED.

I thought these young kids were going to get big minutes all year, but as Francisco and Martin come back and you have all your players, it looks like the young guys are relegated to scrub minutes again. And please dont go get tyhe stats and show me the minutes they played. the entire 4th quarter the game was over and those dont even count in my book.

50 losses or 60, who cares. just make the decision that the future is right now, and give the scrub minutes to Moore and Sheldon.

Did you see Reggie's body language? At that point, he didn't care. Jerry is talking about Theus having to make some changes to the starting lineup AND the rotations. My only fear is that he'll quit playing the kids entirely...

I'm serious. Bozo is available...

use them for garbage minutes, and they start playing like garbage. GO FIGURE.

if MY morale and hope is destroyed...i'm sure they're none too thrilled either.

Is the finals appearance all you are basing your opinion of him on? I have to disagree. He's going to screw up any team he touches.

Avery would be the man if you could even get him to come. NBA Finals, 67 win team, you could hire Reggies, Musses and yes, Eddie Jordans for the next 1000 years and never get that stuff.

And for that matter, say what you will about Flip, but he's been to the Conference Finals something like 4 times now, and missed the playoff maybe three. Maybe he won't get you over the hump, but we are so far form the hump it hasn't shown up on the horizo yet. We just need a pro who's proven he can win once we get good enough to do that again.

Still wish that reggie or an interim souowld just suck it up and be our rebuild coach -- play the kids, keep it organized, go quietly into the night -- and then we go get someone real once we're coming out of it. But does not loiok like it will be. What is going on right now is just unacceptable.
