[Game] Kings @ Magic - 11/21/15 - 2 PM PST, 5 PM EST

Is there any way we can give Rondo an extension on his contract?
We gotta get Rondo locked up for more years. Do it Vlade. Double down!!!

:p

The Rondo/Collison/Ben or Marco lineup in the last 9:25 of the game was -10. Just sayin. The Cuz/Koufos/Casspi/Marco/Rondo lineup got us that 16 point lead with great ball movement and passing and defense.

The TEAM won the game. Without effort from everybody we would have lost.

Shot attempts today:
19
12
11
11
9
7
7
5

A couple guys struggled with there shots, but that's exactly the kind of balance we should want. Right amount of shots to the big man and give everyone else a chance to get involved.

With Rudy out I don't think we have any other players who have ever averaged as many as 15ppg (aside from ghost-of-Caron, who obviously is beyond that). And our #2 and #3 guys in the starting lineup shot 2-11 and 3-12, so really was no reason for anybody to get, or think they should get, more tonight.

Not sure how you can blame that on the lineup, when us sucking in the last 9:00 minutes has happened in pretty much every close game we've played this season. And it's not uncommon at all for the home team to get hot and go on a run in the 4th quarter. We weathered the storm and put the game away. That's what matters here.

People might want to rethink that:

We scored 6 points below or average and shot 38.3% from the field.

Somehow, I don't think Ben or Collison are going to remain sub 25% FG players the rest of their careers. Just a bad shooting night for them.

This offense stalls when Rondo-Rudy-Cuz on the floor. Too many cooks and 2 guys always end up being left out. That didn't happen tonight.

Because that 3 guard lineup is not the best lineup we can put on the floor at the end of games....hasn't been all year.

I'm joking, it's obvious that we need the guy from the stats. But more guys had chances to show some offense it just came down to making shots. Offense flowed better

At any rate, this is a nice win. Magic are better than their record and have taken some really good teams down to the wire. Could very easily have 8 or 9 wins this season. I'm not so sure this is a game we win in years past, but certainly one we need to show we can get if we want to push towards the playoffs.

We may not be better without Rudy but what we can get for Rudy would be an interesting discussion to have.

What we can get for Rudy is a replacement PG once Rondo leaves town after HIS GOOD FRIEND WHO HELPED RECRUIT HIM TO THE TEAM is dumped midseason by a bunch of fans who want to immediately take a dump on the first prosperity they've had in a decade.

So...let's not. We're pretty close.

Pretty close to mediocrity? Is that what Kings fans are left to strive for these days?

Absolutely.

Mediocrity would be an ENORMOUS step forward for this franchise, and reestablish us as a legitimate NBA destination rather than a running punchline.

Mediocrity should inspire ****ing parties across Sacramento. Finally, FINALLY a real NBA franchise with a base you can build of off.

1. Mediocrity would be a refreshing change (not to mention being mediocre enough to make the playoffs might be absolutely necessary to keep Cuz)
2. Our losses have all either been close losses to serious contenders, or without Cuz. All of this with a team that's still learning to play with each other and a rookie working his way into starting at the 5. So we're pretty close, really could mean close to something special not just being mediocre

Fair enough but also held opponent to 91 points....around 15 points below what opponent had been averaging with Rudy playing "defense".

And for the record, I like Rudy. But he has NOT been playing well. Combination of new baby and showing up to camp in sub-optimal shape.

Perhaps but I think Rondo needs the Kings as much as the Kings need him. No one else was knocking down the door for his services this summer. If he continues his level of play for the remainder of his season the market will heat up for his services, but Rondo is an ideal situation in terms of having a coach who will grant him free reign and big man who commands a lot of attention, helping mask his offensive limitations and give him a superior assist target.

Rondo experienced Dallas and Carlisle. He doesn't want to go back. So let's not act like we don't have a lot to offer to him with or without Rudy Gay.
