Huerter had his moments. In the end, with Keon getting no minutes the Kings are down to 1 actual legit defender in Keegan. The Lakers put up 44 in the 4th. The defense got pummeled off the dribble and on cuts and that along with Bron taking over was all it took to break it open. Fox stepped up here and there on defense too but this is going to take time. The way Brown dealt with injuries and kind of let preseason just happen, it could be way worse.
 
On the bright side, I do feel better about this team after it’s 0-2 start than some of the other teams in the west that have actually won a game or two (*coughcough*The Warriors, Memphis and the Mavs*coughcough*) and we’re probably in better shape than the Nuggets, who are also 0-2 but lost one of those in a blowout to the Thunder and the other one against the Harden Clippers despite Joker dropping 40.

The real question is why not Huerter AND Keon in the rotation. There's room for it and we're going to burn out the starters real fast, especially Keegan, if we keep up these Thibs minutes.

If there's a beat worth their salt, that should be the first question tonight

This is the truth! Let’s figure this thing out and close the first month of the season in a strong way. We literally have 80 more of these
 
Lakers went big and we struggled. We lack length and struggle against it. We don’t shoot well enough from 3 to make teams pay. Fox has been pretty inefficient on defense.

it’s only 2 games but it has also been 6 straight losses. This team needs a win. The bench lacks punch. On a positive note at this point we keep our pick.

Their big run happened with LeBron playing with three guards and Rui Hachimura/Jaxon Hayes so it’s not quite their size we were struggling with more than it was ONE guy in particular’s size.

I already explained it. Here's the abridged version, since I know you don't like reading too many words.

Huerter was team high vs Minny, +9. Keon was -12. Monk was -7. +/- is only a highly specific niche stat based on certain minute/rotations. Even then, it's still bad.

I'm also not an admin. God no.

Sorry you can't handle one ounce of push back on a take you make.

I’m legitimately trying to figure out why the hell people are so down on the same Kevin had tonight aside from him being the one responsible for Keon not playing in their eyes and am just drawing blanks.

I’m not saying the guy was a star out there tonight or anything but people losing their absolute marbles over him seeing action in the very same thread where people talk about how good Dalton Knecht is while he essentially just does exactly what Huerter does is just confusing to me.

Not all that confusing. Kevin is the fall guy and he has been since his struggles last season. So they can't see past that anymore, even when he plays well.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the +/- stat and try to use that tonight about why he's bad, but ignore it vs Minny when he was tied for team high. Just intellectually dishonest nonsense.
 
Was the Lakers size the reason we kept jacking up all those low percentage 3’s? The range of shot attempts in the previous game was far more impressive.

Huh? There's a lot of things here that are confusing:

(1) Anyone who happened to be on the floor while the Lakers had a 21-0 run (which was almost entirely Lebron making Hall of Famer shots) was going to take a hit on +/- tonight. We are all dumber for that stat even existing. (2) Jamal isn't an admin. (3) Your use of the word "promotion" seems to imply that we get paid for this. It's more of a public service, really. come on now hrd, you didn't see Huerter playing Bron 1on1 while the other 8 guys just stood on the side and that's why he went on that epic run? Sheesh man, get some new glasses!

3. Instead of trying to claim a personal attack, maybe dismantle my claim about +/- is wrong? That's far more interesting than trying to claim I'm personally attacking people
 
Dumb offense. No identity. Worse than last year. And remember last year was worse than the preceding year. (Is it a trend?) The Lakers are a team the Kings tore apart last year. They terrorized them. Not this year. This team doesn't scare anybody, and my concern about Brown not being able to coach on the offensive side of the ball with this team was realized in this game. Just a bunch of guys out on the floor doing a little of this, a little of that, all the while letting the Lakers feel very very comfortable doing whatever they want to accomplish in their scrimmage. Why? Because the Lakers played at their pace! Here you have a game with the oldest player in the game - LBJ - and the fastest player in the game - Fox - and you let the Lakers play at their leisure. How dumb is that? Instead of Fox terrorizing the Lakers by blowing past them at will in fast breaks we got to see Fox try to finish with 2-point jumpers on quasi-kinda-sorta fast breaks. What a thrill when they clanged off the rim. LBJ looked like he was 25 out there because he could saunter here and saunter there because he didn't have to be concerned about Fox & Co relentlessly running it down his throat and making him look like a washed 40 yo has-been. Brown better figure out what he wants this team to be. Pronto. And the first place you better start, Mr. Brown is: What exactly do you want from Fox in an offense that maximizes his and this team's full potential?

Keon had a lot of momentum and confidence going into this season, after what he showed last season and in summer league.

What they've done with him so far, has the feel of pulling the rug out from underneath him.

And there are most likely other players noticing this decision and side eyeing it, or at least mentally internalizing it.

You seem to be taking this personally when I don't think that was the intention.

For my part, I don't like +/- and never have. I'll even tell you why. The first year ESPN added +/- to their boxscores, Kevin Durant finished the year with the worst +/- in the league. He was the best player on the worst team (this was the last year the Sonics were in Seattle) so naturally he played the most minutes of anyone on that team. Similar to scoring wins and losses for pitchers in baseball, I think +/- is a team stat masquerading as an individual stat and it just doesn't tell us anything useful.

I think it's fair of you to ask the question whether it means anything and Kevin being on the floor while the Lakers made a big run could be significant or not. Considering it was Lebron who lit us up and if Huerter is guarding Lebron than something has gone seriously wrong with our defensive scheme, I don't think it's significant in this case. Generally though I think most people tend to use +/- when it confirms what they already believe and ignore it when it doesn't.
