Hall of Famer
Well it appears the problem is not the coach. On a good note with the 8th pick the BPA appears to be a center Khaman Maluach.

of course Monte will still draft a 6’3” guard.
Not only way too tall for Monte. Way too young for Monte.

Pretty crazy with how young the draft is every year that Monte in round 1 and 2 has only ever drafted ONE player under the age of 21

Tyrese Haliburton who was 20 years 3 months and had to slide several spots out of his projected slot for Monte to draft him.

No way he’s drafting an 18 year old big lol

Kam Jones. 24 years old and in the Monte happy zone of 6’4 or 6’5. Not quite a PG. Not quite a SG…and his last name is Jones! Perfect!

Got to see a little of Doug's postgame. I noticed he avoided criticizing the players while making it clear that he will "obviously" be following up on some problems on both ends of the court. Suggested he would be taking a less hard nosed and more positive approach (not in so many words), which will probably play better with the team. My favorite quote, though, was "You guys know I don't like to lose, especially to THESE guys." lakers hate is alive and well in the Kingdom!

They talked about this on one of the pods I saw last week Monte drafts old players that he wants to develop. Make it make sense

Really though, I don't know of any NBA head coach that has called out players when they get their first head job

so you want to make the team smaller? Because playing undersized at every position has worked so well?
I don’t care about that. I want to play guys that know how to guard and play with force on both ends. Dude plays big out there and it was obvious in today’s game. Dude has huge arms and a wide strong frame. I’m Not going to over think that

Undersized at the 2? Really, moving those goal posts again lol. Yeah, you definitely didn't watch the game. If you did you would have taken note about what "size" did against him.
Dude looked like he was lugging around two go go gadget arms out there. It wasn’t just the length it was the girth.

Keegan’s value is probably so tanked at this point this team has to hold on and hope he remembers how to shoot.

I’m all for trading Fox
Yes…. Curious what kind of extension/contract he gets after his rookie deal. Clearly the kings will extend him unless he’s traded.

Man Carter ain’t a star yall overhyped for a solid role player
What did that have to do with my post? Time will tell, we'll see, but the reason he should be playing IS for the role player qualities. Nobody is expecting Carter to come in and shoot the ball 20 times per game but allowing a total gaping hole on defense has to stop. It's too big of an issue and when they have a capable POA defender besides just Keegan the difference is noticeable.

Herro/Carter backcourt would be nice

yeh it’s the multiple contributions. He shot threes, hit the paint, dished for easy buckets, rebounded, blocked shots, 3 steals, guarded with his chest. He can impact the game across the board even if his shot isn’t falling. Give me a few of those guys and make this team fun to watch again

You have to hand it to Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves. AD had 36 points on 75% shooting and 84% at the free throw line, plus 15 rebounds. Reaves had an amazing 16 assists, with 26 points on 75% shooting from distance.

Even so, the Kings had the lead at halftime, by a single point. It was the third quarter that did them in.

Too soon to be stressing over a game like this. It appeared that the Kings extended the Brown scheme for one more game due to lack of time to meaningfully implement anything else...completely.understandable under the circumstances.

The expectation was to see more fire in the team but it didn't consistently happen. The starting line-up and Keon's use was more Brown-like than an innovative look that was expected.

Now Coach Christie has some time to be more creative and introduce some adjustments. Hopefully, he did not get the interim job by agreeing to be McNair's puppet. We will see.

At any rate, the players will need some time to "unlearn" and reset after the coaching change. Hopefully, Keegan and Huerter will have the desired re-adjustment. A team rebirth likely will take five games or so, along with the integration of Carter, to see how this all shakes out. That should take the Kings into the prime trade deadline schedule. If things still are not working at that time then the "blow it all up" advocates may have another disciple.

I think a Fox/Carter backcourt might be nice too. If it's not too late.
Unfortunately, I think it's probably too late. Kings are now 5.5 back of the 6 seed, which outside of us rifling off a 10 game win streak, is just too far out of reach in the west.

Sometimes a core just doesn't work. It's looking more and more of that being the case here. And if we are truly forward thinking, we'll start tearing this down a year early rather than a year too late

But Carter gave us a glimpse of why he's so highly regarded. Take away all his 3s, and dude still had an unbelievable impact on that game. He's going to be a winning player and no matter what this team looks like in 2 years, he's going to be able to fit with it and make an impact.

Kings needed defense and 3pt shooting. Keon gave both, yet only played 13min again.

Meanwhile from 3, Huerter went 1-4, Keegan 1-6 and Fox 1-9. Absolutely a regular occurrence at this point.

Keegan is worrisome. Completely locked up by Reaves. Total inability to punish smaller players anymore. Entire game is relegated to cutting and bricking 3s. It's like he forgot how to play basketball.

It’s G League. I would project to much from it. Watched plenty of guys shine in G League who are not NBA starters.

That being said it’s not like anything else is working so let’s start our 4th person at 2 guard. At least we can end the argument going into the draft where Carter should play at the NBA level.

Maybe not this season, but long term. People act like Fox is on the last year of his deal when he's not. If the Kings can get momentum, and maybe slide into that play in, there's a reason to see potential. We don't know exactly what Monte and Fox's people talked about, but hearing the Kings have no interest in trading Fox certainly feels like a Monteism for "he's gone", haha.
