[Game] Kings @ Lakers 10/17/2024 7:30 PM Pacific 10:30PM Eastern

Sooooooooo...what you're essentially trying to say here is that, on December 28, 2025, when/if we add one to the column on the right, it'll be all your fault???? Gotcha!!! :p:p:p
We ain’t losing that game, i don’t care if i gotta come down there and guard Luka myself!

Be careful what you ask for!

That’s a great point right there lol I’m sure we’d be the ones getting screwed in this scenario. Nvm!

Without Derozan and Monk, AND with Nique in the starting lineup, the ball moved better and it all just looked better with the bench rotations. Really need to move DDR and Monk.
Saric can shoot the 3 but really poor on defense, IJ is a guy I would play during regular season
With regular minutes, Keon showed up
Carter going to get buried once Monk and Westbrook are playing…..sad

If Doug doesn’t bring DDR off the bench and let the rotations flow better, that’s on him.

No it’s not mike brown an established coach wanted to do it and couldn’t

This! The game is much more fun to watch when the ball moves. We need to play the kids. Especially our rookies. We know we aren’t competing for championships. Nique looks like he can be special for a kid selected in the 20s and Max from the second round.

Yeah I think it’s clear Nique needs to start. I would prefer him over Dennis or DDR.

Nique’s display of poise and vision last night make signing both Dennis and Westbrook seem even worse.

Gonna wait on Westbrook to see how he fits but Schroeder even though he scored didn’t last ok very good to me.

This is the trouble with these kinds of signings. During Keegan's rookie campaign, he began the season on the bench. Mike Brown toyed around with starting KZ Okpala, which was a bunch of silliness. Before too long, he realized it was silliness. And by the fourth game of the season, Keegan was starting.

But with the likes of Schroder and Westbrook and DeRozan and LaVine in the fold at the start of this season, I expect no such deference to the rookies from Doug Christie. Much like Keegan during his first year, Nique probably should be starting. He's an older rookie with the poise necessary to be thrust right into a starting role.

My preferred route to developing the Kings youth while positioning themselves for a high draft pick next off-season would be as follows:

Schroder
Ellis
Nique
Murray
Sabonis

with Carter first off the bench.

That's certainly not a playoff team. It's not even a play-in team. But it's one that's worth watching, and with a bit of lottery luck, it's a team that could add a significant piece to the fold in the draft. Of course, such a rotation requires trading DeRozan, waiving Westbrook, and benching LaVine with the promise of relocating him if/as soon as a taker can be found. Highly unlikely, all of that, which is why the Schroder and Westbrook signings were so counterproductive. It creates more unnecessary difficulty for the Kings to set up a proper rebuild.

Apparently all I have to do is whine about Schroder all day and bam, he shows up.

Cardwell's defense is friggin awesome. No steals, no blocks, all while being the best defender on the floor. I can't remember the exact play but he got switched onto someone who attempted to drive on him, he forced a bad shot, the Lakers got the offensive rebound and in what seemed like a tenth of a second, he turned around and forced a missed from that Laker as well. 99% of players would have been out of position on that second contest. Good stuff. Fan favorite is looming here.

Didn't catch the game. Did catch the highlights. Was aware of who sat with injury/illness/conditioning. And wow, it's almost like there's an exciting young team worth watching underneath the Kings' random assortment of aging vets. God I hope Scott Perry has enough sense to get on with it as quickly as possible.

Sadly, I think Vivek feels like a "splashy" name like Russ gets fans to tune in.

When in reality, if the young guys got a majority of the minutes every night, a majority of Kinga fans would have a blast watching them go win 22 games

It was Reaves, who we had in jail all night. Got switched on him on the perimeter, stayed right with him, forced a tough contested 7 footer.

Really good stuff. Some dudes just have defensive instincts built into them. Like a Keon Ellis. I think Cardwell does too

Clifford was the best passer in the game, by far, providing an assortment of pocket, lobs, and bounce passes that suited my palette just fine, thank you. In fact, if it were not for Clifford's entertaining passing I probably would have switched the channel. I don't remember Haliburton passing this well this early in his career. My knee-jerk was to dismiss Perry's idea about Clifford playing point guard, like dismissing DDR playing power forward. But Clifford, along with Maxime, gives me some hope for the future. Now if Christie in all his stupidity plays Saric or Westbrook ahead of him this season I guess I'll be watching something else in the meantime. Frankly, I'm not holding my breath.

No player stood out defensively in this game. Even Ellis looked like a nobody on the defensive end. Many times the defense was discombobulated and disconnected. Not the way to start the season if your coach is supposed to be a defensive expert.

True there is some instinct to defense and reading and anticipating plays, but its more motivation - go bust your a double s. Cardwell I was most excited about when watching college clips earlier - dandy! he's gonna get some PT despite his poor offense .....go foul out and hockey goon it - cause havoc.....

We are not rotating as one unit. Somebody always gambles and others have to help with no one to help them.

They can do all of this eventually. I get why people want all of this to happen now but it just doesn't work like that, as it takes two to tango and we can't just make a random move for roster balance if it still ends up being a deal that doesn't make complete sense outside of that one goal. DDR can go, yes, but let's see who wants him and where that will be. No need to rush IMO

Had all off season. There is no rushing.

To be fair, for better or worse, the middle of the season is generally when teams start to panic/feel themselves and think they’re a DeMar DeRozan or Malik Monk away from the chip.

The offseason is generally when the big swings happen but the trade deadline is generally where the WTF deals happen (like the time Scott traded Porzingis to the Mavs for picks and salary)

That’s exactly what Perry should do, send out some vets at the trade deadline for draft picks and expiring contracts.

Just make sure we keep the young guys (Keon, Nique, Raynaud, and DC) intact, and I will be a happy camper.

Who had all offseason? Again, it takes two to tango. Fans will complain if we jettison players away for nothing, too. There weren’t many trades at ALL this past offseason and I’m sure the apron stuff has a lot to do with it. That offseason may have been an anomaly for the league as a whole, but no one is gonna die if we have to wait a couple more months to move DDR.

Whatever….he had time to do a deal, there’s no rushing. Watch the complaints come when some of the young guys get reduced minutes

It will be hard to justify and make sense of it, if someone like Keon who averaged 24 minutes on the floor last season....with many of us believing that the team would have been better had he played more, is reduced to something less than 19 minutes. Along with Carter's value being tarnished with him only getting garbage time
