Kings HDTV - Very Sad First Try...

:( Well the HDTV looks great tonight except for when the camera goes out of focus...??????????????????????

It looks as they are using someone's left over camera's and there not sure how to use them????

When the picture is in focus - it looks great but all the replays are blurry and about every 2-3 minutes that one camera keep's screwing up...

Get with it Comcast...............

We had a similar problem with ABC here in Chicago. It doesn't have to be the camera causing the problem. PRoblem here turned out to be a specific filter setting on their HD encoder. CSN HD broadcast's of Bulls games here are pretty good. I just checked avsfourms and it seems that other users in Sacramento are experiencing same thing when it switches from camera to camera.

Hey thanks for the info on the other forum..... I hope they get it worked out at halftime.....

Any word if Dish or DirecTv will have access to the HD feed?

Jeremy. Dish and Directv don't cary any RSN HD feeds. Maybe next year with Directv launching few new satellites they might have capacity to do so, but it is still unknown.

Also keep in mind that probably not all their cameras were HD. This is very common in sports HD broadcasts, where the large number of cameras would make it very expensive to have a full HD setup - especially for smaller broadcasters.

I didn't get to see this in HD, so I don't know how they did it but most mixed broadcasts show the full frame when using HD equipment, then switch to a boxed frame when using non-HD equipment. Some just zoom into the non-HD frame to cover the full 16:9 HD frame instead of boxing it. Whenever they switch from HD to non-HD, the difference is VERY noticeable. It looks blurry due to the lack of resolution - doesn't matter if they're running it thru a line doubler or digitally enhancing it. I suspect this is what CSNW was doing.

OK, thanks for the info. I read somewhere that people in Dallas were getting Mavericks games in HD from Dish, so I thought there was maybe a chance.

That is true. Mark Cuban owns HDNet and his channels is available on Directv and Dish. When they are doing Mavericks home games, they show them to Dallas audience only and black them out for everyone else.

Do you have Dish or Directv? Dish Network also has TNT HD and they are doing all of their games in HD this year.

Hey-at least you guys got to see it. All I had was SOUND and picture from CNBC... Beat that!
If you had picture doesn't that mean you got to see it? :p Either way, at least you got to HEAR it, I sat here reading VF's play-by-play and refreshing for updates on nba.com and espn.com. :(

Directv has the capacity to carry the HD feed but Comcast isn't providing them with the HD feed....... Directv has more HD than most right now and all of them are pretty nice. I agree that not all HD programs are done with all equipment though and you can really tell the difference. The game the other night, they were all HD camera's except for the SD camera's on the backboard's....but they need to get the bugs worked out I guess

Directv is very much so limited with capacity until they launch new satellites. They could add more HD channels by compressing them more (and they have started doing this on some channels). They just added national Fox HD feeds for east and west coast. Until they expand their capacity they have to be selective with what they add (and providers have to allow them HD feeds as well).
