Feel like Okpala needs to get more spot minutes consistently, because there have been times when we just need a defensive stopper at the end of games. We've been using Davion, but height matters.

Worst half so far...
Watching 19-year-old AJ Griffin outplay Kegan feels gut wrenching. If he continues to miss his shots, we might as well give some minutes to KZ. Keegan needs to figure it out.. and fast. Playing with him almost feels like 4v5 on offense... same as when we had KZ in the starting unit.

Here's another thing about Keegan we have to remember and I hope the coaching staff does to. Keegan in college actually played a pretty physical brand of BBall which was actually a knock by some people considering they think he can't do that at the NBA level. He looked to body up guys on the post, drives, etc at Iowa. He's been almost entirely a spacing/cutting player that hasn't got much chance to body up a defender. He got fouled 3 times on that post up on Young but you can see Keegan is trying to avoid contact. Once he starts making contact as a big man again I think things will open up for him on a consistent basis.

Modern NBA doesn't really allow for post-up PFs. I don't think you can name a single post-player who's not a center... and even then, you don't really want your bigs posting up much.
Paired with Sabonis and Fox? Ya... Keegan is not going to get any post-up opportunities because of the poor floor spacing. But like I said, even without them, post-ups aren't really something you want to see unless your big is a really good passer.. which Keegan is not.

Well, the difference is that they’ll still defend Keegan even if he’s struggling. They’ll sag off KZ even if it he makes a couple. The space is important for everybody else even if Keegan doesn’t get his.

Fox can put up 30 in the 2nd half. Give up 140+ tonight and it won't matter. This defensive scheme has finally met the proverbial crossroads. This team probably isn't going to be a top 20 defense at any point because they don't have the personnel for it. You never know though but they need to figure out what they do best on defense and use it when they have to. Sabonis as your backline defender means relying on paint protection isn't a good idea, you have to push your defense out and make it harder to get in there. I would so bring in Chuck Hayes to work with him. I think he can do some of the same things on pick and roll that Hayes did.
Keegan's going to be fine. Don't know about his back but if it's even remotely still tweaked it is going to wreck his shot.

I'm not saying he should be a post up player, but for better or worse, that's basically the extent of his iso game right now. We saw Collins get a post up in this game. PF's still post up here and there. And also, plenty of wings that play small ball PF do. Tatum, Butler, plenty of post play is still coming from that PF spot.
Keegan is really fortunate that the Kings are winning and exceeding all expectations. If we weren't, I'm 100% sure the main Kings storyline in the NBA would be about how bad Murray looks compared to Jaden Ivey.

If the refs are going to let Trae stick his leg underneath Fox and get a foul call AND a tech...I dunno man.
The only thing is, y'all are probably going to get waxed by the Celtics, and with 16 years of losing-related PTSD, a two-game losing streak might be all it takes to kill the feel-good around here.

Failing at acknowledging ups and downs is just a small-town loser mentality if you ask me.
It's not everyone can make it to the top. Some people with small-town hopes and dreams simply don't grasp that.
