Two days after receiving news the Kings are expected to be without forward Francisco Garcia for a minimum of four months, Coach Paul Westphal said, “It’s a tough blow for him. It’s tough for any player to have that news - he had surgery and has to be out for awhile, but we can’t be [...]

Smallball here we come! Full speed ahead!

Maybe if it is entertaining and puts a few butts in the seats for a year until we draft or trade for another legitimate big, OK. But for a permanent look? No thanks.

is there any SF in the league that Kevin Martin can defend?

With Bruce Bowen gone, Corey Brewer might be his last great hope.

And Westphal, don't pee me off. I am struggling here to like you and give you credit for being the first professional coach we've had around here in 3 years. Please don't refresh your rep as an offensive minded smallball coach with a team that desperately needs whipping into shape on defense and the boards.

Aw come on Brick,

Westphal just wants a Wall/Evans backcourt in 2010...Thats the only logical explanation for all of this.

(il)Logical explanation number two is that Kevin has added 30 lbs of muscle in the offseason and we just havent heard about it yet.

Kind of expected, huh? From August 2,
We could play something like: Rodriguez/Udrih, Evans/Garcia, Martin/Garcia, Nocioni/Brockman, and Hawes/JT and have interesting offensive possibilities as a small ball team. That would at once minimize the risk of a combo guard who might not be able to make the change, and deal with our lack of a backup C. If we weren't going to try something like that, the lack of a backup C would leave me wondering what the heck the FO was thinking. Playing Evans and Martin at once (as 1 and 2) also leaves me wondering who is going to be making assists, yet there is no way that benching either one of them would be popular, so something like the above gets the coach and FO out of that dilemma.

Whether we could play small successfully against most opponents is something I feel doubtful about, but it does seem worth a try. It's not like we had anything to lose.

I hate small ball, but, with our roster, what else could happen?

Maybe we can appeal to the NBA for a change in the ball size rules.
