Kings Fan’s TV Show Draft! - Round 20

My mom loved this show. In fact, it was the inspiration for my brother and I to give my parents their first trip to Hawaii a long time ago. The acting may not have been the best, the writing wasn't always top-notch and the dialogue sometimes made you laugh, but the incredible scenery more than made up for it as it was all filmed on location in Hawaii... This pick is in honor of my mom.

Hawaii Five-0 - 1968-1988
The theme of this show was easily one of the most memorable ever...

And now, to start off the 20th and final round...

Okay, I confess. This show has been my guilty pleasure for more years than I care to admit. It has it all - ghosts and gangsters, love and loathing, murders and mayhem, miraculous returns from the dead, cheating spouses and diabolically crazy villians...and a lot more. The advent of the DVR has saved me a lot of angst over possibly missing episodes. With my final pick of this draft, I'm going with:

General Hospital - 1963-present

At some point, I promise, I'll say something about the shows I've drafted these last few rounds. Alas, this time there's a video at least.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981)

I don't know...

You Can't Do That on Television (1979-1990)

Humorous to pre-teens? Yep. Offensive to adults? Yep. My last pick, proof that Canadian humor exists.

Oh yeah, and Alanis Morissette.

Resquiat in Pacem, Barth.

Way back in the days before Adult Swim, Cartoon Network started their trend of late night irreverent (silly? stupid? nonsensical?) humor with my last pick.

[yt=Cartoon Planet]9w0dXLiD938[/yt] [yt=You know what?]1okyengmYN4[/yt]

Cartoon Planet - TBS/Cartoon Network (1995-1999)
-- Over the course of a half hour, Space Ghost, Zorak, and Brak would answer viewer mail, sing songs, tell stories, argue, blow each other up, and teach the viewers how to talk Italian. Admittedly not for everyone, this show still cracks me up. Unabashedly silly.

So far in this draft I have went with shows that I would DEFINITELY want to watch while stranded on an Island. I really took this literally as what 20 shows would I be content with watching for possibly the rest of my life. After a while I would really start to miss my friends and family and would be ready to find a way to get out! So, just maybe if I watch my final pick enough I could find a way to get the heck off of this Island or at least make a cool coconut Radio! :p LOL

Gilligan's Island (1964-1967)

Great pick, KG4, and after seeing it you have to wonder how it lasted this long. It's truly the stereotypical "tropical island" TV show draft pick to end all "tropical island" TV show draft pick. Nice job.

:D

Ahh. My last pick. Its been fun, gotta end it on a fun note.

With my 20th selection, I pick Keenan and Kel (1996-2000)

Very funny Nick at night show. I still have some classic quotes locked up in my head .. they come out time to time =] "Who loves orange soda? Kelllllllll loves orange soda!"

So we're drawing this draft to a close, and I still have a few holes in my programming. This next selection should help fill some of the gaps. With my 20th pick I select:

Dinner and a Movie (1996-Present)

It's a cooking show, it's an entertainment show, and it has full length movies too. Brilliant :). Here's a list of their recipes by movie:

Rankings

So we've only got 1 pick left in this draft. You know what that means. Time to get those rankings in. Please submit an ordered list (via PM to me) ranking each drafter's list except for your own (1-15). These rankings will determine seeding in the Kings Fan's TV Show Draft Playoffs. The playoffs will hopefully begin by this Wednesday, pending the rankings of course. Thanks :).

Dexter's Laboratory - Cartoon Network (1996-2003)

Gotta finish the draft the way I started, with a favorite from my childhood. Dexter's Lab is a great kids show, and something someone can still laugh at even when they grow up. And what kid my age didn't learn how to spell "laboratory" just by how Dexter says it in his ridiculous accent. Great show.

Great draft everybody! Nice lists all around. Feel free to post the alternate TV shows that didn't make the cut. Hopefully we'll get the playoffs going by Wednesday, if I can get most rankings by then :).

Some shows that almost made the cut for me:

Pinky and the Brain
Invader Zim
Whose Line is it Anyway? - British Version
Friday Night Lights
SportsNight
Miami Vice
Celebrity Death Match
Tales from the Crypt (Token Halloween Pick)
The Young Adventures of Indiana Jones
Sea Quest (Guilty pleasure...The first season rocked :))
Boston Legal
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
The Incredible Spider Man
