FORD: And don't get me started on the Kings. They have five guys on their roster that care nothing for defense or chemistry and want to jack up 20 shots a night. They finally get a chance at a guy who can make a huge impact on the floor without the ball in his hands and their response is to trade the pick.
....sadly I agree
I hate that attitude. What if its a good ****ing deal? then what, Chad Ford?
Like I keep saying, If MKG is gone then all bets are off. I rather have Lowry and #14 then #5 if #5 if Harrison Barnes or Lillard.
Whats better? Lowry and Henson or just Barnes? Lowry and Zeller or just Barnes? Lowry and Meyers Leonard or just Barnes? Lowry and Moe Harkless? Lowry and Perry Jones? you get the point.
Thats my personal feeling on Barnes. We don't need that type of player. Lowry and Evans would be awesome. The deal is even better if they include Dalembert, which I believe they will if that is a deal breaker for us.
The point is, we don't know what trades are out there. Chad Ford sure as hell doesn't know what trades are out there. He is the anti Sam Amick when it comes to the Kings. Ford hates the Kings, the Kings hate Ford.
He is assuming the Kings will pass on MKG if he is there. I highly doubt it. There is actually evidence that we don't pass on the obvious guys. Cousins fell, we grabbed him. You could even say the same about guys like Whiteside and Honeycutt - guys who were projected mid-late first round picks that slid to us in the second round.
I'm just not going to assume any deal we make is a disaster until I see the deal. Again, if Barnes is our option, I have no issue going after a guy like Deng or Iggy. Two guys that ARE available. And based on the most recent Mocks and trade chatter, it looks like Barnes WILL be the guy that falls to #5. So yes, I expect all the 'insiders' to 'hear' Kings trade chatter, because we are hopefully planning for the worst case scenario - Barnes dropping to 5.
With all of that being said, if the Kings aren't receiving those kind of offers, I'll take Barnes at #5 and figure it all out later. I'd personally rather have Drummond, but I understand that Barnes is the logical pick. He's more valuable, and he does fill a need spot (even if he isn't filling the 'need' spot with the right sort of Skill - defense/team first attitude).
The Kings have a sketchy trade record. People like to dwell on the bad ones .. especially last years awful Jimmer/Salmons deal, which is fine, but I'm not going to be the dumbass that says 'Don't trade the pick!!!' without knowing what the trade even is.
