Kings and Golden State talking about a pick swap? (Amick)

FORD: And don't get me started on the Kings. They have five guys on their roster that care nothing for defense or chemistry and want to jack up 20 shots a night. They finally get a chance at a guy who can make a huge impact on the floor without the ball in his hands and their response is to trade the pick.

....sadly I agree

I hate that attitude. What if its a good ****ing deal? then what, Chad Ford?

Like I keep saying, If MKG is gone then all bets are off. I rather have Lowry and #14 then #5 if #5 if Harrison Barnes or Lillard.

Whats better? Lowry and Henson or just Barnes? Lowry and Zeller or just Barnes? Lowry and Meyers Leonard or just Barnes? Lowry and Moe Harkless? Lowry and Perry Jones? you get the point.

Thats my personal feeling on Barnes. We don't need that type of player. Lowry and Evans would be awesome. The deal is even better if they include Dalembert, which I believe they will if that is a deal breaker for us.

The point is, we don't know what trades are out there. Chad Ford sure as hell doesn't know what trades are out there. He is the anti Sam Amick when it comes to the Kings. Ford hates the Kings, the Kings hate Ford.

He is assuming the Kings will pass on MKG if he is there. I highly doubt it. There is actually evidence that we don't pass on the obvious guys. Cousins fell, we grabbed him. You could even say the same about guys like Whiteside and Honeycutt - guys who were projected mid-late first round picks that slid to us in the second round.

I'm just not going to assume any deal we make is a disaster until I see the deal. Again, if Barnes is our option, I have no issue going after a guy like Deng or Iggy. Two guys that ARE available. And based on the most recent Mocks and trade chatter, it looks like Barnes WILL be the guy that falls to #5. So yes, I expect all the 'insiders' to 'hear' Kings trade chatter, because we are hopefully planning for the worst case scenario - Barnes dropping to 5.

With all of that being said, if the Kings aren't receiving those kind of offers, I'll take Barnes at #5 and figure it all out later. I'd personally rather have Drummond, but I understand that Barnes is the logical pick. He's more valuable, and he does fill a need spot (even if he isn't filling the 'need' spot with the right sort of Skill - defense/team first attitude).

The Kings have a sketchy trade record. People like to dwell on the bad ones .. especially last years awful Jimmer/Salmons deal, which is fine, but I'm not going to be the dumbass that says 'Don't trade the pick!!!' without knowing what the trade even is.

I agree with most of what you said. but if we pass on MKG or he is sitting there at 5 and we traded it away. I will be one pissed off kings fan

LOL. I'm always amazed at how clueless Ford is when it comes to the Kings. True story, he once criticized GP on TV for picking Spencer Hawes over Jokaim Noah. Gee, care to check the draft order that year Ford?

Petrie says in the Bee today that he has talked seriously with interest to 6 or 7 teams about trading the pick. We heard rumors about a couple of them but who knows who the rest are. And, most ofter I'm sure, it all depends on drops to us at 5. So it's really apt to be tomorrow night at 7:30 or 8 that Petrie learns who he trading with or not.

Had to add the one word as he also said just about everyone makes a casual call. He's doing his job as we have an enormous amount of good options unlike last year where we had close to none. This year should follow the Hippocratic oath: firstly, cause no harm. This is my reasoning when I say I am against drafting Drummond. We are not desparate and this is not Las Vegas. We shouldn't be gambling to get a home run. We need no hail Mary passes. (How many metaphors can I add?) We already have our "main man" in Cousins so let's build around him and not try to add another monster who might end up being as much a distraction as anything else. We have too many other projects which include Hassan, Jimmer, Honeycutt, and Tyreke.

Petrie keeps his mouth shut and you will never get a name out of him. Several years ago he was asked why he was so quiet about his intentions and he said that when you start mentioning your players by name, it creates bad feelings. Players get the impression they are not wanted. Look at the way we bat rumors about and describe certain players as "filler" or whatever less than wonderful name. The players should be left in the dark as little can be gained by letting him know what the FO wants to do with him and at the worst you get a very disgruntled player on your squad.

How would you like to play for a team who at one point saw you as "filler?"

These are called "rumors." Most of the ideas that we would not take MKG if he were available are the figments of fan's imaginations. Let's not forget this.

That tweet make it sound like Warriors called about #5 and got short answer "#7 and Curry or Klay". It gets the job done, and now Warriors are thinking if it's worth it.
P.S. ND.net changed their top-5, moving Beal to #2, MKG - to #3 and Robinson to #4, so for now they believe Cavs trade up for Beal, Wiz react by taking MKG and Cats still get their guy in Robinson.

I don't think that MKG is a good fit at all for the Wizards, and if Beal is off the board they should either consider trading down to get Lamb/Waiters or go with the big scoring option in Robinson. But...if they do take MKG, I'd be on the phone first thing with them to see what it would take to get Chris Singleton, because he's instantly become expendable if you take MKG.

Yesterday when Chad Ford and Skip Bayless were on ESPN talking about the draft, I got a tweet from one of the scouts I follow that said his 8 yr old daughter know more about the draft than those 2 put together.
