Kings and free agency - part 4

What worries me a little bit is that if Butler and Omri are flying to vegas to sign up wouldn't they normally be signed AFTER we use up the last 4-5 mil in cap space?
and then sign Butler to vet min and Casspi to room exception?

Does that mean he has given up on Josh?

Does that mean if Luc does not sign today that Vlade is done except for min contracts?
Interestingly, Rondo, Koufos, and Bellinelli were just made official. But that's it.

Definitely strange... Especially considering Butler is right there. Maybe he has to sign certain players in order ...
He does, if he wants to maximize the cap space. (Jkbiker was lamenting that Vlade appeared to be violating this, but so far so good).

The fact that Casspi (room exception) and Butler (vet min) aren't official makes me think Vlade has something in the works with the remaining space.

Rondo: "I'm most excited people are doubting us.....all this negative energy towards Sacramento...looking forward to proving them wrong."

Carmichael Dave ‏@CarmichaelDave

Rondo:"We have a lot of talent on paper. If we continue to buy into George Karl's system, we're going to try and make a run at the playoffs."

Rondo is pumping me up right now. Love how Karl was saying that the coaches are going to be challenged by Rondo's high IQ......Rondo saying that the team needs to trust Karl's offense and stay on the same page.

I'm sniffing playoffs coming.

to anyone who hasnt seen it...news10 has the rondo and karl interviews...and also has a vid of vlade saying they were all going to have dinner in vegas (with demarcus and darren) so thats why i assume caron and omri went to vegas(maybe also the move to take the rest of the cap will happen while they are there so then omri/butler can sign after)

Assuming Stockton stays in the D-League, how many spots on the roster left? 1? 2?
Once all the signings are done the Kings will have 13 players under contract. We can quibble over who the starters will be and which position to label guys but essentially it breaks down like this:

C Koufos/Cauley-Stein
PF Cousins/Moreland
SF Gay/Casspi/Mbah a Moute
SG Bellinelli/McLemore/Butler/Anderson
PG Rondo/Collison

Clearly a third PG is needed and IMO the Kings need a veteran PF or PF/C - ideally one that can score. I like what I'm seeing out of Moreland but he should really be the fifth developmental big and the Kings will need a veteran to pick up the slack due to injury or when/if WCS hits the rookie wall.

My first choices would be Josh Smith, Darrell Arthur or Kevin Seraphin but it may have to be a guy like Quincy Acy or Reggie Evans.

Rajon Rondo is this teams' best point guard since Mike Bibby. He's a floor general. He's a magician, a surgeon with a basketball. The excitement is back in Sacramento and it is an amazing feeling. It truly is a marvelous spectacle for any fan of this team to witness. I'm proud to say that I've suffered with this team through these last 10 or so years of sorrow. I fully expect a bandwagon of fresh fans to make their way to our kingdom and that's perfectly fine, this team could use all the support that it can get. Last night, July 12th, I had some free time on my hands. I drove about 10 minutes away from my home to the spot of the new downtown arena and future home of our team. I stood in awe at the framework of what is to be one of the most advanced and beautiful arenas in the country. The foundation of our team, DeMarcus Cousins, has expressed his excitement for this upcoming year, and he could not have chosen a better time. Our wonderful general manager and former king, Vlade Divac, has created a team capable of making noise in the gruesome western conference. He's created a team that this city so desperately has coveted and fought tooth and nail for, literally.

Though our hall of fame coach has some work to do, specifically convincing his superstar center to trust in his system, I am confident that he will ultimately be able to right this ship. As has been said, winning cures all, and there is no sweeter medicine ahead for our franchise. For the final time in history, the seats at ARCO arena will rumble beneath the cheer of 17.000 screaming fans. The roar made our home court advantage one of the best in the NBA will be restored.

2015-2016, this season is when all of our suffering and support is made all worthwhile. Buckle up, Kings fans, it's going to be one hell of a ride.

One of the main things i was worried about with the Rondo signing was how Darren was gonna take it. I mean he played well and didnt do anything to lose his job except get hurt. I know some say that collison isnt a starting pg on a contender but from what i saw last year he played well enough to keep his job over a declining Rondo. Now if Rondo played like his old self and outplays collison, I hope he accepts his job as backup. So if he is going to eat dinner with them in vegas, I see it as accepting Rondo to the team and accepting his role

We expected this. Butler is getting a veteran's minimum deal and Casspi is getting the Room Exception. If Vlade signed them now that would mean we had no money left to spend in free agency. Delaying those signings (which can be made after we reach the salary cap) allows us to continue pursuing other free agents.

So in this order 1.waive stocton 2.Josh with cap space. 3 sign casspi to room 4 sign agreed min Butler ,Luc and anderson 4 find 3rd pg Miller. Holy crap!!! We are 15 DEEP. I wonder if anderson is a guarenteed contract or does he have to survive camp?

This is a very important step in building team chemistry. I bet vlade had a little private meeting with him, DMC and karl.

The healing process hopefully begins now and I hope karl apologized for looking into trying to trade DMC.

Wow, that first video (6:19) is great to see. Cuz+Casspi love is really real. Cuz looks really happy to meet his new FA vet teammates. Cuz showing some love for Vivek too. And at the end, Vivek seemed to have a lengthy talk with Cuz in the back. Seems serious. Can't lipread much, but they would cut anything important anyway.
Wow I loved seeing Cuz welcome all the new players. He looked proud and excited and it looked mutual. I REALLY hope we surprise some folks this year so the world can see the man Demarcus Cousins really is.

per marc stein ... Another interesting free agent name to draw interest in recent days from Sacramento: Matt Bonner
Wouldn't be a bad choice for what perhaps is the final spot. I still feel that the main weakness of this team is outside shooting. The perfect spot for a 3-point specialist would be a small forward/power forward tweener which Bonner definitely is. After missing out on a good outside shooter and replacing him with yet another defender in Mbah a Moute it further emphasizes that we need a little more to spread the floor.

Share the sentiment. I would change the last part a little bit - "......... so the world can see the team that Sacramento really is." Cuz's success will be judged based on the team's success.
