Kings and free agency - part 2

Wes would rather play with Jordan than Cousins? That should either send a message to Cousins, or a message to the Kings because while Jordan is nice, Cousins is the man at that position. What could Wes be thinking.
There was a rumor that Wes, Parsons, and DJ were all seen together somewhere recently(LA?) so Im willing to bet that is where a lot of this wanting to play with DJ stuff is coming from. That's why I found it kind of odd that Parsons just started following Wes today on twitter if they are as good of friends as the media is making it seem.

Noticeably absent from your front court list is Rudy Gay. Last I checked, he's pretty darn good and certainly isn't part of the backcourt rotation. But you're still probably right. Why anybody would believe that a front court consisting of the best center in the league, a fellow 20+ point scorer/team USA teammate, and potentially one of the better defensive bigs from day one any good is beyond me. That's just a silly pipe dream.
Because gay isn't a 4. Sure we can play him there at times but our actual current 4/5's of cuz/wcs/Moreland is woefully thin.

How is this even an argument? I'm not saying we can't add a big this offseason, only that I'm concerned if we spend all of our money on pg/sg, we'll have a problem in the front court.

So our front court the last few years was one of the best? Sure didn't seem like it any time cousins was out and it's now lacking even more depth.
The caveat to our front court having been one of the best is that it had Cousins on it. If it didnt seem like it when Cousins was out then that would make sense.

@ramonashelburne: A call is just a call... but heard the Lakers did call Rajon Rondo today to touch base.
Lakers: "Hey Rondo how's it going?"

Rondo: "Good Lakers, how are you man?"

Lakers: "Oh I'm good, just touching base."

Rondo: "Cool Lakers, I'm gonna eat some nachos."

Lakers: "Sounds good. Have a good night man. Hey call me if you go see Mall Cop 2 at the dollar theater."

I dont want to turn this into a peeing contest but Cousins is the best center in the league and in my mind the #2 player on earth. Any front court that has Cousins on it automatically becomes one of the best front courts out there.
I think #2 is a bit of a stretch, but I think you are putting way too much responsibility on WCS's shoulders. it takes time for every rookie to adjust- and he's no different...

Affalo agreed to 16M for 2 years and we are offering Wes 16M per year and he still hesitate.
Stop trying Vlade, let's move on with more sensible deals!
You can net 3 nice players with 26M.

If it's for the same money he's going to choose Matthews and Dirks ghost over Paul, Griffin, and the Truth?
Clipper can definitely offer more and a fifth year to a contract.

I don't see DJ turning down Steve balmer's money.

But, if DJ turns down the Dallas money, would Dallas up their offer to Wes Matthews? There lies in a problem.

What?

You suggested he would be better than rookie jordan and I pointed out that didn't mean much.

How is your response at all relevant?

And to be clear, I'm a big wcs fan and think he was absolutely the right choice in the draft. I'm just not comfortable trying to make that front court rotation work and would like to see us bring in some bigs.
My point is that he is far more developed than one of the best current defenders was coming out of college. And, he'll be playing next to a top 5 defensive frontcourt player (DMC). It's a nightmare pairing for opposing teams. Just because Moreland is in the mix doesn't mean we lose playoff potential at all. Which is what you suggested.

That was the point you were making while rambling about me being too risk averse to buy milk?

I like the wcs/cuz pairing. I don't like those being the only real bigs on the roster, especially with the pressure it puts on the rook.

My point was that it requires risk to make improvements, and that's what we're doing by jettisoning JT and Landry, and improving our backcourt. Our backcourt is in far worse shape that our frontcourt rotation, even if we're going with Moreland as our third big.

You have a better memory than this. It's been well chronicled that the Kings starting 5 since the Rudy Gay acquisition has been among the top 10 in the league. And the strength of the starting 5 has always been in the front court. DMC and Rudy are still here and JT has been replaced with a defensive minded player. No reason to believe things are going to drastically change on that front with DMC and Rudy as the anchors.

The weakness has always been at the 2 guard and overall depth, along with keeping the top 3 players healthy and playing together for long stretches.

If your point is that the Kings need better depth beyond the starters, not many would disagree. Every team needs depth. But most teams can't match what the Kings already have.

I don't mind risk. I just hope we don't take the one that leaves our front court rotation so weak. We absolutely can't have Moreland as our third big. Not in the west.

bring back Acy and Reggie. let Moreland (and I suppose Sim) try to make the end of the roster. Bring back Omri to swing some along with Rudy. In the end if Cuz stays healthy, which will be the key to everything anyway, we could be within just one solid, proven NBA big of sufficient.

Wes Matthews wants to play with DeAndre Jordan, I'm told, and could in Dallas. But how can he turn down $16m/yr in Sacramento?

Looks like we may have to wait for DeAndre before Wes chooses us or Dallas
Why would he want to play with Deandre so badly? What point guard would be passing either of them the ball? Mekkel? I just cant see DJ, a key component to lob city, leaving LA so that he can go to Dallas and catch passes from Mekkel instead. No.

Decent plan, not sure if we can pull it off cap wise, since we have no Bird rights on Omri...
