Kings acquire Hilton Armstrong

Not a very relevant trade.
But if Armstrong gets the Brockness aura. He might just turn into useful bench players for us. And for a team with only 2 kids above 6'10", he is a useful addition.
My question is, why do a lot of people are up in arms for this trade? Cool down everyone. It's not like Armstrong will easily gets minutes. I'm sure Westphal will make him challenge for it.
If PW can bench Hawes, he can bench Armstrong for eternity if he's no good. But the icing to this trade is the kid got height and mobility. Who knows Petrie may have found a gem in the rough again.
I hope people will still remember that Armstrong played a lot of his career under Byron Scott. Scott is not really a patient coach on kid development just take a look at Julian Wright who never really blossomed to the potential he had.
So far PW has done so much on a lot of rookies and young players on the Kings roster. Maybe, just maybe Hilton will be better here too.

I doubt he will get the Brockman "aura" as you put it. Brockman is Brockman because he's built like a brick **** house and is extremely aggressive with no fear.

Hilton Armstrong is not a beast and never was or will be...I think he will be filler for something bigger on the horizon...

With Brockness aura, I am referring to the way of playing the game with improved intensity and a lot of heart.
Whether Armstrong will just a trade filler or not, I wish he would find improved intensity and a bigger heart and hustle to play basketball.

if he plays as well as brockman then this would be a good deal... i doubt that he will but hey, its not impossible. he's a scrub but a scrub could get 5/5/1 blk with some decent defense and limited fouls..

Picked this up off another board, who got it from Larry Coon's site:
"(a player cannot be traded…)For two months after receiving the player in trade or claiming him off waivers, if the player is being traded in combination with other players. However, the team is free to trade the player by himself (not packaged with other players) immediately. This restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap."
We are not over the salary cap, so we can turn around and trade Armstrong in combination with other players at any time. So in essence we lost nothing, made money and gained an expiring contract who can be immediately traded as part of another deal. Not mind blowing, but a nice way to pick up some cash without losing anything assuming the 2nd round picks conditions are as ludicrous as they were for the Celtics. Pretty much they only get it if we make it to the NBA Championship.

I browsed a hornets forum earlier and most of them mentioned the Kings were being robbed. But one respond stand out for me:

It's an example of that the Hornets is one of the few teams who easily gives up on young underachieving kids. So let's wait.
If Armstrong can't contribute, he'll be a good package with Thomas' expiring to get quality big like Beidrins or Kaman.

Also, in a bad economy, and an amazing FA class next summer, expiring contracts are more valuable than usual as trade pieces.

No, but he was a seasoned vet when he joined the Kings with limited potential. Moore was a known quantity and still is; he is not a starter in this league, but he gets along well with others and fill the role as a bench big just fine; I was in no way surprised by his performance and no way surprised that he continues to play around the league. But the Kings also PAID Mikki Moore for more than one year.
Hilton is not buying a house in Sac, just checking in at the Extended Stay hotel unless he performs. Hilton will likely be out of the league next year if he doesn't show signs of life and improvement; same with Desmond Mason and Sean May. When you get traded for a conditional 2016 second round draft pick, you should pretty much know it is now or never.
I really do not think comparing Mikki Moore to Hilton Armstrong is a good comparison at all. Maybe Rashad McCants is a better comparison. Did you think McCants would get better? No one knew, but if he didn't improve, he would be out of the league.
Same with Bobby Brown, Beno Udrih, Sean May, Desmond Mason, Sheldon Williams, Dahntay Jones, and on and on... some of these guys succeed, most fail. These are guys who are on the bubble, it's either play or your career is finished. Why do teams and, specifically, the Kings hire and trade for these guys? There is limited financial risk involved for the Kings, these players will come and play in Sacramento for the minimum and often nonguarenteed contract, and they are young enough, that if they work out, the Kings have a nice young prospect.
Most of these bubble prospects will fail, but tell me Beno didn't work out. He was waived by the Spurs, the Kings signed him to a one-year deal and he became a starter. Did anyone expect that? No way. Does anyone expect Hilton Armstrong to succeed here? No way, but he has a chance and what if he is successful and the Kings finally get a solid reserve center? That's a huge payoff for a zero financial risk like this weird deal.
Sorry about the rambling, but I do not see what all the fuss is about Hilton; he is a prospect who is on the bubble, what is not to like about that? It's not like the Kings traded someone real good to get him. Plus, he is an ender which makes him very tradable AND the Kings gain money in the deal.
