He's way too early for our top-10 pick, will be gone by second round. Doesn't really inspire the desire to trade for him.
As for his playing abilities, he's not a defender Perk is and most likely won't be. Average D rebounder. He's a backup center who may have conditioning problems.
Texas played against UNC, not GT. If drafting was all about getting the best player from college, it would be real easy. It's not. Have you thought how many seconds will he last against Warriors or Suns?
My bad, I watch so many games they all blend together. Your right it was UNC and Ed Davis. Regardless he played very well against them. But I'm looking forward to the time he does play against Georgia Tech.
Look, I know he's not in shape to play in the NBA right now. Maybe he'll never be, but unless he has some sort of medical problem I don't know about, there's no reason to believe he can't get into that kind of shape. He seems dedicated enough, and his current weight and body fat content certainly would lend one to believe he'll be OK.
But since you bring it up. I'm not sure he would be the type of player that would fit well with the current makeup of the Kings. I think a player that that runs the floor well and that plays good defense is what they need. I'm not quite sure who that is yet, but I think Udoh is one that falls into the catagory.
I don't know about that. Ideally, yes, it would be nice to have a guy who could really run. But if this team is built around Tyreke, he can play slow down or speed up, and really the speed (end line to end line) of the center is probably the least important factor in assessing performance. Pittman is a force in the middle. It's that simple. Just like Tyreke was. In a way, just like Brockman is, except he's bigger. If you have Pittman and Tyreke in there you have a bruising team. Then you have Brockman as a sub and Greene for his athletic defensiveness and Casspi for his scrap and now you're talking. Teams wouldn't want to play those guys. If I was confident that Pittman wasn't going to eat the training table I'd take him over Alabi.
Just thought I'd let everyone know / remind them that tonight on ESPN2 at 9ET ( sorry =] ) Balyor is going to play Kansas. Udoh vs. Aldrich .. not sure how much time they'll spend matched up against one another, but one of these guys could absolutely be in a Kings Uniform next season. And it might be one of the last times we'll see Udoh, cause Baylor isnt on TV that often.
what do u guys think of ed davis? do ya think he has a chance of falling to us?
? Have you watched him? D is the main thing he has going for him. Give him 36 min and he will give you 2bpg and alter another 4-5 every game then turn around and rebound the ball. I don't think he will do much on the other end but he will set mean screens and then slide to the basket to fight for rebound. Kings' young group doesn't need more from him anyway.Aldrich is moving up my personal board, because hes a big dude. Kind of has a Marc Gasol body type, but more athletic. Hes thick. I dont know how his defense will translate into the NBA. Seems like the kind of guy that will be a good positional defender. Not a big shot blocker, but a guy who can keep players out of the paint.

Aldrich have comparable mobility to Lopez and Perkins, Perk may be stronger than Cole though. Ok, maybe he will average 1,8bpg but the fact is he's not hunting for blocks he plays positional defense, contest and alters a lot of shots. I remember watching Memphis' game and announcers from opposing team were joking that if you want a rebound just follow Thabeet and when he flies to block a shot you just collect missed attempt for an easy put-back. Aldrich doesn't fly but he contests and then rebound the miss. I would always take poor man's Mutombo over Ratliff.
My brother is a st marys grad so I've seen him a bunch over his career. He's done a lot to get in better shape and he's decently skilled. That being said he lacks NBA speed, quickness and athleticism. Think John Bryant but slightly more mobile. I could see him getting summer camp looks but don't think he'll have an NBA career.Sorry I'm late to the party, but I've been without power for three days. I was starting to build an ark just in case. Anyway, I agree with you on Aldrich. I also think he's more athletic than some are giving him credit for. However, I seriously doubt he'll be there when we pick. I'm not sold on Alabi. I think he could become a shotblocking specialist, but I don't see him keeping anyone out of the paint. Udoh I can see possibly become a presence in the post. As you said he has a big frame that could hold another 25 to 30 pounds easily and he still wouldn't look totally filled out.
A guy I'm sort of intrigued by is Omar Samhan from St. Marys. I've only been able to catch him one and a half times so far. The one full game I watched he played very well, and he plays in a pretty good conference. Some would argue that its better than the pac 10 this year. He's got the size at 6'11" and 265. I'm curious what your opinion is and if you've been able to catch him more than I have?
Since you are studying all the available big men in the draft..
What do you guys think of the possibility of drafting Donatas Motiejunas?
Is he on your radar? And should he be (on the Kings radar)?
7-footer with high ceiling and perimeter skills. Is compared to Andrea Bargnani of the Raptors. Can be a scoring threat and stretch the floor which might work out well in combination with Evans: i.e. open lane.

He's being mocked pretty high on average, could be a top 10-er. Or even higher. Don't know about his agenda, if he wants to come over next year already. He turns 20 in september '10.
I dont know if he's been mentioned before, but Larry Sanders from VCU pretty much fits our hole. Shot blocking rebounding machine with a 7'7'' wingspan.
The problem with the european players is that its hard to comment on them. No real venue to see them play on a regular basis and if you do catch a game on NBA TV, you have no way of knowing how good the competition is. On paper he looks like a good prospect. But he's another of those thin tall european centers that you just never know about for sure until you get him over here. And they usually take a while to adapt to the NBA. Hey, he could be the next Dirk, or he could be the next Darko.
He'll probably get picked before we pick anyway, so I'm not going to worry too much about him.
