The more I watch the bigs in this class, the more I get scared away from them.
Udoh, Alabi, and Davis are very thin. I can easily see them being busts in the NBA. Not saying they will be, but I see that as a pretty good possibility. I like Udoh and Alabi better than Davis, but I still dont love any of these guys. And I would be nervous with any of them on my team.
Aldrich is moving up my personal board, because hes a big dude. Kind of has a Marc Gasol body type, but more athletic. Hes thick. I dont know how his defense will translate into the NBA. Seems like the kind of guy that will be a good positional defender. Not a big shot blocker, but a guy who can keep players out of the paint. His offense is OK. It looks like he has decent hands and touch .. his offense is good enough for me if his defense will translate.
Pittman is another player that I think has a better shot at ' making it ' then Udoh, Davis, or Alabi. Hes a big guy, like Aldrich, but he's a tad shorter. Of course he has the weight issue thing. I personally dont think it will be a big deal, but you can never be sure. Im not sure how good he can be though. Probly has the least amount of potential, but the best chance at being a solid pro.
Then there is the guy Ive been reading about a lot lately, and Im almost falling for him. Hassan Whiteside. The problem is I cant watch him play. Never seen him before. I guess I'd put him in the Udoh/Davis/Alabi group with better numbers. He's atheltic like those guys, he's a good rebounder, decent offensive stats, and gets 5.4 blocks a game. I understand these stats have a lot to do with his competition. At Marshall he isnt going to be playing the same talent these other guys do, but against West Virginia he had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. So I dont know. I like him because I havent seen him. Kind of like Jennings last year. I liked him because the Point Guards I was watching werent doing it for me, so naturally I liked a guy that I couldnt pick out the flaws for.
