Kings 2009-2010 NBA Draft:

Lol yeah the defense was smothering him all day with double, triple, and i even saw 4 guys at one point of the game trying to stop Turner...but that guy is just too good. As you can see I really like Evan Turner. :D

having a back court full of evans would be the sickest thing ever.....but cmon we are Sacramento...D Stern doesn't like us enough.

Turner has been getting this kind of defensive treatment all year. As I've said many time this season. Turner is the best player in college basketball. Doesn't mean he'll be the biggest star to come out of this class, but right now, he's the best. Wesley Johnson and Turner are comparable in the sense that their both SG/SF's. Their about the same height. Johnson is a little better athlete than Turner and definitely a better three point shooter. Both are good passers, but Turner gets the edge because of his creativity. Turner is the better ballhandler by a landslide, and as a result is better at getting to the basket. What makes Turner so dangerous is his midrange game. When he drives into the paint area, you don't know if he's going to pull up for a jumper, keep driving to the basket, or pass the ball.

He's been compared to Brandon Roy, and thats a good comparison. Roy, once again is a better athlete, but Turner is a better defender than Roy was coming out of college.

So if you want a SG that can play defense and score the ball, both Johnson and Turner would fit the bill. But if you want a SG that can bring the ball up and run the offense in addition to the other things I mentioned. Then Turner is your man.

Not sure how many saw it since it was long after the game was decided, but I think Cousins showed vs. Wake Forest today that his reputation as a loose cannon is overstated. Chas McFarland was doing everything he could to try and get Cousins to lose his temper. McFarland is known for doing this, and has gotten other opposing players kicked out of games this season. He was swinging elbows and taking some cheap shots at Cousins when he thought the refs weren't watching. In garbage time he took a swipe at Cousins' head and got an intentional foul, but Cousins didn't take the bait and start a fight or anything. He got up and clapped, and that was that. I think he has shown a lot more maturity a lot as the season has gone on.

For those that don't know what he's talking about or didn't see it..

I don't mind the to's from Turner so much since he isn't a true PG. His ball handling is more suited for the 2/3, although more of a 3 than 2 like Paul Pierce.

What about Wes Johnson's age? He is 22, does that make him fall in the draft a little? If you are geoff and he's still undrafted does his age scare him?

Maybe a little, but if Wes Johnson falls I think it's mainly because he's not a big and he's not a shot creator. It all depends on what you consider a fall for Johnson though, he's been projected top 10 for most of the year year, and that's probably where he'll end up.

What would you guys say are the chances of Petrie making a move and trying to trade for a better pick should our ping pong luck continue and we get a closer to tenth pick? I have to admit ever since I heard the mention of it I am really hoping GP goes for one of the top 5 guys. I wouldn't mind Johnson if we couldn't get one of the 5 though! He really impressed today. I saw someone on another board say they weren't impressed with favors today, but you have to remember his terrible guards don't get him the ball enough, he was great on the off. glass in the second half today though.

Would you be willing to trade Omri and the 10th pick to be in the top ten? I dunno.

He didn't look that bad to me, once he actually got to play for a consistent period of time. A couple of those foul calls on him were completely ridiculous.

No! He's the same age Karl Malone was when he came into the NBA. My god, are we so used to drafting 18 and 19 year olds that will usually take 2 to 3 years to develop that suddenly 22 is old. He may be 22, but he's also more of a finished product.

Believe it or not, Favors is getting the ball more now than he did in the first half of the season. Thats all you need to know about Georgia Tech's guard play. When Tech is hitting their outside shots, which isn't that often, they can beat you. They got on a little bit of a run that actually surprised me. I've probably seen them play at least 15 times this year, and the last three or four games is the best I've seen them play.

Because of Ohio St.'s perimiter defense, I figured they had no chance of beating them. You would think that Tech would have an advantage with their size inside. And they should, except they seldom touch the ball. It went pretty much the way I figured it would.

I DVR'd that game Baja, hav to admit I was pulling for GT, I really want Favors to succeed for some reason, I have this weird feeling he could be good on our team backing up Landry. I know, I know, we really need cousins, still I like what I see from DF. I thought it was really lame when they cut to another game and made us miss most of the comeback at the end of the game. Anyone else catch that?

Like I've said, I would not be upset with getting Cousins, but I still favor Favors (see what I did there?). Favors can go many ways offensively, he's fairly raw there, but he's so incredibly advanced defensively and on the boards for his age. Offensively, he needs work, but at the very least I can see him being a McDyess type player, although not quite as explosive. He seems to have his head fastened straight too. If we got the third pick, I would want him.

I guess that's a big if Vlade, the way this team is playing, we might want to make a major move in this upcoming draft, because I am afraid we are not going to be getting another lottery pick next year. Wait afraid? Strike that, that sounds good actually! I will take playoff births over lotto picks any day! (unless of course we make a nice trade for a new jersey pick someday!). I favor Mr. Favors too Vlade, just something about him. Nice play on words!

Just watched a recording of Baylor that I had vs. Texas. This is the first time I've watched Baylor and I have to say that I was very impressed with Udoh. He showed very good passing and ball handling, a nice jumper, and very quick all around. It's hard to get a read on him defensively, and he didn't look real aggressive going after defensive rebounds, but I'm very intrigued by him.

Udoh is one of the best defensive players out of the prospective bigmen in the upcoming draft.

I swear im going to be LIVID if the Kings draft a guard or wing player. With such a saturation of quality bigman prospects in the upcoming draft theres no excuse not to take one.

You know, one team to think about in that type of scenario is the Knicks. They'd possibly have limited interest in grabbing a pick needing a big contract with eyes on LeBron and DWade, and could want to move down and grab a marketable, International piece in the process like Omri. I'd fish....

EDIT: Never mind, NYK doesn't have a first anymore. WAS, however, might also fit that logic.

To get back on the thread, though, and keeping with the "wish list" top five we'd be interested in, regardless of round, here's mine:

1.) Cousins- No explanation needed, really. Great prospect.
2.) Favors- Love his game, and think he could fit immediately.
3.) Whiteside- monstrous prospect, great instinctive C
4.) Johnson- Pure SF prospect, good shooter, more complete than others at that position in this draft.
5.) Udoh- In my opinion, so far one of the sleepers of the draft.
RUNNER UP:
6.) Vladimir Dasic, Real Madrid- Watch video and tell me who this guy reminds you of. Again, a sleeper in my opinion, full of potential, with good mechanics and range. A little soft, but uncanny ability to grab points, and has become a bit of a marketable commodity over in the league. Also, was coached by Ettore and plays with Rubio, so the connections to last summer are there. :D

Nope. Geoff drafted Garcia when he was 24. If he can play then he can play, whether hes 18 or 22.

Technically, Garcia was 23 (slightly less than 23.5) when he was drafted. His rookie year is considered his "age 24" season because he turned 24 mid-season before the cut-off. The point stands, of course.

I think this will be the year Kings buy a pick.

Thats extremely hard to predict, but I hope your right. There so many ways we could draft this year, and so many guys that fit this team.

I know for the most part we've been looking at bigs, but as you get towards the middle/end of the first round, theres also some smaller SGs who can handle the ball and score that would look really good next to Reke. I know we have Udrih playing with him right now, and its working, but if you could potentially move Udrih and Landry to your bench ( by drafting some PF with our first pick like Favors or Udoh .. Even Cousins could play PF if we wanted him too ) then Wow. What a strong bench we would have. Between Cisco, Casspi, Udrih, and Landry .. Thats gotta be one of the best second units in the league.

Avery Bradley and Eric Bledsoe are my favorite guys to put next to Reke, but theres plenty of players who fit that mold. If we did get that second late first, I'd love to take one of these guys.
